The clown caucus strikes again. An impeachment will just result in people rallying behind Biden. They really are desperate to please their orange Lord and Master.

So I guess they're not concerned about a government shutdown at the end of the month.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 12, 2023 3:47 PM |
What a spineless lackey he is! Anything to remain Speaker of the House, no matter how shameful.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 12, 2023 3:51 PM |
They're just doing it because it would be too embarrassing for them to go into the general election with an unimpeached Biden.

I guess we can check him off the list for future candidates for "Profiles in Courage."
But then 99% of today's Republicans would never make the cut.

And how many more would have died, R9, is Biden hadn't ended our involvement in that particular war. Bush 2 dragged us into a massive death event with the invasion of Iraq, all based on lies. The republicans are good at that. This ridiculous inquiry is based on more lies by people who cheat to win.
Repukes have been smearing honest people for decades. They mocked John Kerry's military experience and laughed with scorn at community activism because Obama got his start that way.
McCarthy spewed innumerable lies today while protecting the biggest crime family of all, and that is the trump family crime syndicate. The list of their misdeeds is long. I'm glad they're taking a closer look at Jared Kushner's billion dollar Saudi swindle. Not to mention the lying stooges on the Supreme Court who are bought and sold by right wing billionaires.
Magats are despicable. The would destroy our democracy for what? Ignorance on steroids.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 12, 2023 4:33 PM |
Comer has admitted there's no there, there. This is all bullshit. Lev Parnas has receipts waiting to prove they are utterly full of shit on the bribery issue. Hunter's BFF testified there was no perfidy by Biden. They have nothing.
What are they going to impeach him for, for having a big cock like his son? Are there photos of Biden's huge dick, too? Will Marge Taylor Pipebomb reinact sex scenes from Hunter's laptop with dildos she purchased from Target, while "Dixie" plays in the background and McCarthy wears a clown suit, Matt Gaetz shits in a corner and Boebert blows Ted Cruz --live-- on CSPAN?
I mean, why not? They are only here to distract and entertain their moron voters.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 12, 2023 4:41 PM |
Hope it backfires. It’s not clear he has the votes to open an inquiry. But even if they do … Why do they want to be associated with the stank of Trump??? The Senate including Republicans are sick of the House Republican bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 12, 2023 4:44 PM |
The current sad state of affairs in the US House of Representatives can be traced back to one thing: jerrymandered districts where common trash like Gym Jordan, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert and MTG are answerable to no one, including voters.
These people aren't interested in governing. They're more interested in keeping their inane Animal House like frat party going, with Donald Trump playing the part of Bluto Blutarsky.

As despicable as McCarthy is, he is better than whatever clown the nutcase Freedumb Caucus would replace him with. I know that's a low, low, LOW bar--but that's where we are with the Republican party in 2023. The same could be said for Mitch McTurtle.

It WILL Backfire on them. Ultimately, the gravity of the divide within the Republican party itself- whereby one side has to essentially resort to "extortion" to get results from the other- will be their downfall. OH, they may raise a ruckus- a huge thorn in the A$$ of the Dems ( and any sane Repugs left), but this ridiculous stunt (plus Margie's Porn-show) will be their ultimate death-knell.

"Rep. Nancy Mace says she supports a House impeachment inquiry. Asked isn't it supposed to be the evidence that leads you to pursue an impeachment inquiry, Mace responds, “That's what the inquiry is for, to get more evidence.”

The problem for the Free Dumb Caucus is that NO ONE wants to replace McCarthy. And McCarthy is too dumb to call their bluff. No one wants to be subjected to their bullshit. The GOP is incapable of governing. All they need now is a government shutdown and they are burnt toast.

by Anonymous | reply 81 | September 13, 2023 5:02 AM |
Based on that Politico article stating that in 2019, Trump had the DOJ write up an OLC memo declaring that unless a House vote is taken prior to the appointment of an impeachment inquiry in the House, such a inquiry has no subpoena power or means of compliance, it sounds like this thing is even more fucked from the start.
So you’ve got illegitimate Gym Jordan issuing subpoena’s and trying to assert compliance power, using the DOJ who already has an OLC memo saying that the inquiries actions are illegitimate. Doesn’t sound like it’ll ever touch Biden.
Plus, the major recipients of the subpoenas in an initial inquiry will be the IRS, FBI and DOJ, so all of them can take the legitimacy of those requests up to the Supreme Court but Trump will already have the court system tied up with his own motions. Plus, unless those agencies COMPLETELY spell everything out for Jordan and his cohorts, they’ll never figure out what they have; they can only follow biased, grievance-filled morons who are easily undone under cross-examination like their previous IRS stoolies.
Biden should stay as far away from all this as possible and let them fall on their own petard, as the poster above said. Force Kevin to take a vote and play hardball and be PUBLIC about it.
ALSO, it’s time for elected Democratic officials to tear the band-aid off and start making political hay of Trump’s indictments. It’s perfectly fine to say, “Well, the only reason they’re doing this is because their front-runner has been legitimately inducted 91x on both federal and state charges - and that doesn’t even include the civil cases!”
If they say, “Well, I’m sure President Biden will comply and at the end of this process will be exonerated,” they might as well kill themselves. If they legitimise this inquiry, they are dead.

by Anonymous | reply 83 | September 13, 2023 7:18 AM |
The Dems need to join the circus and play up the OLC memo, force McCarthy to take a vote, etc. because if they legitimise it and try to be all noble about it, I guarantee you the media will elevate this inquiry above the Trump trials, the same way they did with Whitewater and Benghazi (“but her e-mails!”) bullshit.

No, there won’t be a vote because the Rethug representatives who are in otherwise blue districts that Biden won are not going to vote for this nonsense. They already have targets on their backs because they generally represent good potential pick-ups for the Dems. They certainly don’t want to make things worse by voting to impeach Biden on fictions that Gym Jordan and Comer have dreamt up.
Yesterday when one of the nut cases was explaining to a British reporter why they had to move forward, he threw out the baseless allegation that Biden as VP had fired the Ukrainian prosecutor as proof that Biden was corrupt. Except that particular falsehood has been debunked several times over the past four years. Biden didn’t fire the prosecutor because he was investigating Burisma and Hunter, he fired him because he was corrupt and all our European allies wanted the guy fired. There was nothing nefarious about what Biden did.
They know that. They’re just going to ignore it. The Repukes are reprehensible.
