OP, I absolutely agree and sometimes - as weird as this sounds - I will watch body cam videos on YouTube to remind myself that many of them are patient and professional. Otherwise, it just feels overwhelming and infuriating.

America is fucked up beyond belief. It isn’t going to end well.

A cop has to be tough or else executions like these happen. They go through so much bs on a daily basis and the bad guys are just keeping an eye out for them. They have a lot of trauma they have to deal with. There's some bad apples but for the most part they are trying to maintain order in a crazy ass country.

The reason cops shoot first is that everyone in the US is potentially armed. That is not true in other civilized countries. The number of unarmed individuals killed by cops is tiny compared to the damage done by average Americans. The biggest threat to a black man is another black man not a cop.

The reason coos shoot first is because they're psychologically damaged violent fascists before they even join the force. They're bullies who passed a two week training course in 2004 and now they have a gun and a badge and they think it makes them god.

I don't think people like R3, who support cops in situations like this, comprehend that it may start with black men, but it won't end there.

Sub middle class black men are throwaway people to a lot of Americans. But so are poor people of any race, especially those who are mentally ill. I'm not just talking about the homeless, I'm talking about the working poor, etc. Their families don't often have it together enough to do anything about it. Poor people of any color are fucked. Marginalized groups are fucked. The cops have been testing the waters by killing poorer black men, and they're extending that to other people who don't have the ability to stand up to them, who don't come from a socioeconomic group that has the power to do a goddamned thing about it.

My point is, don't be so giddy that there's another dead black guy because tomorrow it could be you. Get your head out of your ass.
