Buster was an Olympic gold medal winner in swimming who parlayed that into acting roles, mostly as comic strip heroes in movies and serials. He's one of the most beautiful classic Hollywood stars IMO. Not only physically, but also witty and charming.
If you want to enjoy more of him, I recommend watching Search for Beauty (1934), a campy romp that's really just an excuse to show attractive people in swimsuits for an hour and a quarter. It's pre-Code, so boys could show their bare asses (not Buster, unfortunately).

According to Wiki, his daughter died at the age of 20 from a then-mysterious "wasting" disease. Today it's called anorexia nervosa. I hope his obsession with fitness didn't push a wedge between him and his daughter.
