Rose Hanbury's Insight Into the ‘Magical’ & Lavish Way Her Kids Live In Their 106-Room Home

For those who don’t know, Rose Hanbury (better known by her married name Rose Cholmondeley) and her family reside in Houghton Hall, which her husband David Rocksavage, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley inherited when he was 30. Not only does this home reportedly have 106 rooms, but it has quite a few “magical” details that make it a paradise for their three kids.

In a recent interview with The English Home, Hanbury revealed that not only do her twin sons have separate rooms, but they also have separate living quarters altogether. “The boys are really lucky to have a bedroom each, one in each cupola. Both rooms are hexagonal and my cousin painted the ceilings; one has a night sky and the other a day sky. Both are really magical,” she said.

Along with that, “The boys also love the main arcade – the entrance hall – and use it as a skateboarding and roller skating arena. It has columns to weave between, and they get up quite a speed.”

Imagine your house being so big that you could roller skate through the columns in the living room and through 106 rooms.

Rose and the Houghton Hall: Portrait of An English Country House co-author met back in 2003 at a party, and started dating three years later in 2006. In 2009, they announced their engagement, and later that they were expecting, and then wed soon after. They share three children: twins named Earl of Rocksavage Alexander Hugh George and Lord Oliver Timothy George, born on Oct 12, 2009, and Lady Iris Marina Aline, born March 2016.

Not having their Lord Chamberlain gay twee father and that he lives in Paris with his partner helps.

by Anonymousreply 2September 5, 2023 9:13 AM

It sounds like her petri dish boys are growing up quite loved and unspoiled, soon enough untethered to do as boundless loved boys do -- make mayhem and blame others.

At least that gives William more privacy and more time to spend with Rose.

Future Queen Rose of the United Kingdom and Great Britain.

It has a nice ring to it.

by Anonymousreply 5September 5, 2023 10:51 AM

I had to look up to see who Rose is. I see that one of twin her sons Lord Oliver is the curly headed blond that Prince George was chatting with during Grandpapa's coronation.

Brits are so fucking tiresome. The entire place is one massive stereotype. When will they evolve?

by Anonymousreply 7September 5, 2023 1:17 PM

Not like Americans, at all. Enjoy the gun show.

Long live the monarchy and the peerage. Somebody’s got to be filthy rich!

Or maybe not so much. The poor dears had to sell one of the most excellent Hans Holbeins. I mean this sincerely.

Legit thought this was an Onion article. What disgusting people.

Poor Rose can't afford a hairdresser.

Marquess Cholmondeley is estimated to be worth £60 million. Not that impressive. I wonder what shape the old manor house is really in.

Interesting way for Charles to stick it to Kate.

By including the son of your son's mistress in your coronation ceremony.

Surely, it was Camilla's idea. She doesn't like Kate very much.

That is the last thing Charles or Camilla would do. They want a stable monarchy. You don't do that by antagonizing William's wife (to whom Charles is very close and of whom Charles is very fond.) R14 is peddling a lie on purpose.

by Anonymousreply 15September 5, 2023 6:39 PM

Whaddaya know... R14 is also R1 and OP.

What an upstanding character and valuable contributor.

What are "living quarters"?

[quote]twins named Earl of Rocksavage Alexander Hugh George and Lord Oliver Timothy George

I'd be so mad if I was beaten to inheriting by a minute or two.

by Anonymousreply 20September 6, 2023 4:43 AM

Especially if some obstetric docs standing by about which newly whelping twin individual should have been pulled out of her hugely exposed womb from which both twins emerged at almost the same time. Especially if her womb was cut open upon delivery and Rocksavage pulled out his desired heir, weirdo-boy

by Anonymousreply 21September 6, 2023 7:19 AM

R14 R1 and OP is a clueless idiot peddling a made up story (by Giles Coren, a food writer) which he has since recanted as having posted online when drunk.

There seems to be a new wave of Meg-stans infecting the DL lately, just when it seemed we were rid of them.

by Anonymousreply 22September 6, 2023 8:32 AM

Houghton Hall is palatial and it doesn't seem like a 60 million fortune would be enough to keep it together.

by Anonymousreply 23September 6, 2023 8:51 AM

OP's photo is very flattering, in profile she looks like an alpaca.
