Did 90 Day Fiance's Karine have Paul killed in Brazil?

Niche internet celebrities have found a new way to attain clout, as they’re so often prone to do. And, as with many publicity efforts, the name of the game is controversy. After the Lil Tay death hoax, more than one celebrity popped up to announce their death and subsequently announced the hacking of their socials.

It goes without saying how reprehensible this is. Among the many issues it causes, crying wolf like this makes it harder to believe real tragedies when they happen. This is why many are presently looking at Karine Martins with a great deal of skepticism.

Karine appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days in 2017 with her partner Paul Staehle. The two have been a part of the 90 Day Fiancé franchise ever since. The two were portrayed as chaotic, and that chaos even reached heights of alleged abuse that led to their firing. But things may have just gotten worse for the duo.

On August 30, Karine posted a message on her Instagram story, first in Portuguese, then in English: “Paul went missing last night in Brazil. Prayers he is found safe.” However, Karine didn’t seem too concerned as she went on to post nonchalant messages on her story after the fact, such as a “live laugh love” sign.

Then, on August 31, Karine posted a reel showcasing a photo collage of Paul. She captioned the post, “[broken heart emoji] Not all of our memories were bad. Our children loved you very much. We will never forgot [sic] you or the good memories we all shared.” But those hoping for more clarification were left in the dark as she disabled comments on the post and her entire page.

Later, Karine reposted what appeared to be a life insurance ad, which said, “Life insurance is a final way of telling your loved ones, ‘I’ve got you.’” Paul’s account, meanwhile, is privatized. Karine has still kept posting on her story with nonchalance, even as of one hour ago. Until Karine or another source says something more concrete, we are in the dark. But we genuinely hope Paul is okay.

I thought Paul was weird, but she's weird too.

Didn't she get hooked on drugs, once she got to the US?

Paul is weird, but he is also kind of sexy - at least he has beautiful eyes. The sex video they made showed he had a quite large dick, too.

90 Day Fiancé star Karine Staehle shared an update regarding husband Paul Staehle’s disappearance after he was initially reported missing on August 31.

“I do not have an update on Paul,” Karine, 27, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, September 2. “The girls he was with in Brazil, to my understanding, are going to look for him today on a boat. Yesterday they went to a place he is renting and hotels he was known to use.”

Karine’s update comes two days after she revealed on Thursday, August 31, that Paul was unaccounted for in Brazil. “Paul went missing last night in Brazil. Prayers he is found safe,” the TLC alum wrote via her Instagram Stories.

The next day, the mom of two took to social media with a series of Facebook messages reportedly between Paul and Paul’s mother, Mary. After sharing his location, Paul wrote that he “got lost” during a solo excursion and “f–ked up bad.” “I need a boat to get back,” he wrote. Mary proceeded to contact Paul’s overseas friends, with her son’s last message sent around 1:38 a.m. before the contact ceased. Audio calls at 7:18 a.m. and 1:55 p.m. were included in the message exchange, but there was no answer.

Karine’s shared post also included alleged messages between Mary and individuals named Jaciane RV and Indaia Cruz. Jaciane told Paul’s mother that they “could not find him in the locator,” and additionally did not know why the 90 Day Fiancé star needed assistance.

The Brazil native then raised speculation that something terrible happened to her husband after posting a tribute to her husband on social media. The video included photos and clips of Paul and Karine with their two sons, Pierre, 4, and Ethan, 2. It was set to Kyle Hume’s “If I Would Have Known.”

In the caption of the video, Karine wrote with a broken heart emoji, “Not all of our memories were bad. Our children loved you very much. We will never forgot you or the good memories we all shared.”

Paul’s mom shared an exclusive update on her son to In Touch that same day, noting she was worried about Paul.

“I do not know anything as of right now. Still no responses from Paul since very late Wednesday night. He was lost and pinged me his location to try and get a friend to help,” the matriarch told In Touch on September 1. “He told me he messed up, was alone, which was really stupid, and his phone was about to die. I sent the three names he gave me urgent messages but it was very late so no replies until next morning. I pray he is OK. And just has no way to communicate. I have to believe that.”

Paul and Karine were first introduced to fans on season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days in August 2017. After tying the knot in November 2017, the pair welcomed their sons in March 2019 and February 2021. The couple separated in December that year after a video of a heated argument between them went viral, but they later reunited in April 2023. The TLC alums have been involved in a battle with Child Protective Services to regain custody of their sons since June 2022.

Now, the US Embassy in Brazil is involved!

[quote] The Search For 90 Day Fiancé’s Paul Staehle Now Involves U.S. Embassy, As Karine Says Friends Tell Her She's 'Not Helping'

The search for former 90 Day Fiancé cast member Paul Staehle is still escalating, as friends and family continue to seek out details after he went missing in Brazil. The U.S. Embassy was reportedly brought into the mix, but there's some drama as his wife Karine sent a shady message to fans after she faced some harsh criticism from friends.

90 Day Fiancé blogger John Yates has remained in contact with Paul's mother since the cast member's disappearance, and reported that she managed to reach out to authorities in Brazil who said they'd be able to help. Yates explained in a post that he was on her call with the U.S. Embassy, which has now apparently joined in searching for him. According to Yates:

[quote] As I just discussed on my latest Paul update the American Embassy has been contacted by Paul’s mom (I was on the phone with her when they called so I heard it myself) and they are now actively looking for him.

Yates originally shared text exchanges between Paul and his mother, where Paul explained that he "fucked up" and needed a boat to travel away from a remote area he was stuck in. In other updates, locals familiar with the situation have claimed that the area Paul is in is considered dangerous, and that his life may be at risk. Paul's smartphone is currently dead, and he supposedly has not been in contact with anyone in other manners.

Paul's wife Karine Staehle has exhibited arguably odd behavior since his disappearance. She originally reported that Paul was missing, but the Brazilian native (who is currently in the United States) then spent that day sharing pictures of her lunch on social media. Viewers were later alarmed when she spoke about Paul in the past tense, as well as when she shared a meme about life insurance being a way to care for loved ones after their passing.

Her streak of posts has seemingly led to friends and family becoming critical of her, which led to a new video response she shared to Instagram Stories while fresh out of the shower. In it, she said:

[quote] Hello guys, how are you today? I just want to say when you want to know about Paul ask his friends. I’m not helping. I don’t know, ok? They just say that I’m not helping. So, whatever. When you want to know about Paul just ask his friends. They know more than me…I’m sorry. I really want to help, but they just say that I’m not helping.

Karine's tone in the video was sassy, suggesting that she didn't appreciate anyone criticizing her actions during such a problematic time. Karine has not shared any further updates regarding Paul's situation since that video, nor any updates from others in Brazil tracking the situation.

Paul and Karine Staehle are currently "together" regarding their marriage and were reportedly working on regaining custody of their two sons, who are currently in foster care. Paul was declared missing in the United States when their children were first taken and later had to surrender his son Pierre to authorities in Kentucky. Paul explained he had just left the state in search of a job and that he wasn't attempting to flee.

At this time, it seems unlikely Paul or Karine would ever be welcomed back to 90 Day Fiancé after their drama escalated to a point where they were uninvited from the tell-all of their final season. They've made several headlines since, including a claim from Paul that Karine had tried to kill him. This latest development is certainly the wildest update in some time, and hopefully, one in which everyone ends up safe.

If he ran into trouble in Brazil, it isn't necessarily because she arranged it.

Shit happens everywhere, and definitely in Brazil.

[quote] ‘90 Day Fiance’ Alum Paul Staehle Is ‘OK and Alive’

90 Day Fiancé alum Paul Staehle is “OK and alive” just three days after initially being reported missing in Brazil.

“I’m so grateful that he’s OK and alive, but he’s still not in a good situation,” his mother, Mary, confirmed via a YouTube Live interview with blogger John Yates on Sunday, September 3. “He’s still not back out of the woods yet, but I know he’s alive.”

Mary revealed that Paul, 40, was in danger after taking a canoe-type boat out at night to the “wrong place.”

“I think it’s stupid, I don’t know why he would go somewhere at night by himself alone, and [they] said it might’ve been that place everyone was talking about that was so dangerous,” she continued. “And he freaked out and that’s where he said, ‘He screwed up.’ And then he found a way to get back over to this village, so he’s in some remote village, over there somewhere.”

While the villagers had been “good” to Paul, she said he’d been sleeping in a hammock outside and “getting eaten by bugs.”

“I’m hoping the boat picks him up tomorrow,” Mary explained, revealing a friend of Paul’s had called her last night to go look for him. “He’s hoping to get back tomorrow, that’s what he told me.”

Hours later, the dad of two returned to social media with a cryptic post. After scrubbing most of the posts off of his feed, the TLC alum took to his Instagram Stories to repost a video clip from January 2022 that featured his two young sons.

“Treasure every day and every moment with your family and the ones you love,” his caption read. “Especially your children who are the future and your parents who you never know when your last moment together will be. Always part on good terms because if that moment is the last goodbye make it a positive one.”

Paul was first reported missing in Brazil on August 31, after his wife, Karine Stahle, wrote via her Instagram Stories that he “went missing.” “Prayers he is found safe.” Karine then reshared an April 21 post from her feed that included a photo of her praying in a church in another Instagram Stories post.

The next day, the 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days alum, 27, reposted a series of Facebook messages reportedly between Paul and Paul’s mother on September 1.

The mom of two then raised speculation that Paul had passed away after posting a tribute to him on social media. The video included photos and clips of the couple with their two sons, Pierre, 4, and Ethan, 2. It was set to Kyle Hume’s “If I Would Have Known.”

In the caption of the video, Karine wrote with a broken heart emoji, “Not all of our memories were bad. Our children loved you very much. We will never forgot you or the good memories we all shared.”

Paul’s mom, Mary, shared an exclusive update on her son to In Touch that same day, noting she was worried about Paul.

“I do not know anything as of right now. Still no responses from Paul since very late Wednesday night. He was lost and pinged me his location to try and get a friend to help,” Mary told In Touch on September 1. “He told me he messed up, was alone, which was really stupid, and his phone was about to die. I sent the three names he gave me urgent messages but it was very late so no replies until next morning. I pray he is OK. And just has no way to communicate. I have to believe that.”

[quote] 90 Day Fiancé's Paul Staehle Says He Wasn't Missing Despite Karine Staehle's Memorial Post

90 Day Fiancé alum Paul Staehle is doing okay.

The TLC personality was presumed missing last week when his on-again-off-again wife, Karine Staehle (née Martins), shared cryptic posts about his location. Now, Paul says he was never missing — let alone dead — to begin with.

Paul told TMZ he’s been traveling and living alone in Brazil. Last week, he took a boat ride and temporarily encountered a “hiccup” on the trip. In fear, he reached out to his mom to contact emergency personnel who could send a return boat. Then, Paul’s phone died.

He and his boatmate — who was a fan of 90 Day Fiancé — ended up spending “a few days” at someone’s floating house in the Amazon, where he didn’t have a phone charger.

Paul addressed speculation that the entire ordeal was a hoax. “If that was the case, I would have gone on Instagram Live, or I would have posted things,” he told the outlet. “I never wanted any of this stuff to go public.”

It did anyway as Paul’s mother gave the text messages to 90 Day blogger John Yates. As seen on his Instagram profile, one message included Paul saying, “I f---ed up real bad,” before he went silent.

That’s when Karine stepped in to share a tribute post. “Not all of our memories were bad. Our children loved you very much,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a video of memories from their tumultuous relationship. “We will never forgot [sic] you or the good memories we all shared.”

The post has since been deleted, and Karine has made her account private.

“In all honesty, I didn’t want to add gasoline to all these different fires,” Paul told TMZ, adding that he didn’t want people to “twist” his explanation.

Paul and Karine appeared on season 1 of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. Their nuptials were featured in the show’s second season.

In 2019, the couple welcomed their first child, a boy named Pierre. Later that year, Paul alleged Karine had cheated on him, and the pair separated. Karine denied the cheating allegation.

The pair has rebounded a few times since then. They welcomed a second son, Ethan, in 2021.

The couple’s relationship status has been hard to follow for many 90 Day fans. But most recently, in April, Paul and Karine announced they’d reconciled again. They seem to have split since.

There have been a few other missing persons reports connected to the pair. Last year, Paul and Pierre were reported missing, and an Amber Alert was issued for the child’s safety. Once reunited with family, the couple’s two children were taken into Child Protective Services. Paul denied kidnapping the child.

Paul also once reported Karine missing in 2020, though she later denied being missing on her Instagram Story. In 2021, she filed a protective order against Paul stating she “feared for my life and my son's life.” According to InTouch, Karine dropped the order in February 2023 shortly before the pair announced they'd reunited.
