Why? It was effective. And she works better in small doses. Them trying to make her a leading lady won’t work.
Florence Pugh- “Christopher Nolan apologized to me for giving me such a small role in Oppenheimer!”

Cunt.

This entire movie would have worked much better in smaller doses -- I mean, as if literally one hour had been cut from it.

Both her and Emily Blunt had small parts unbecoming of their talent. But that's normal for Nolan, he sucks at writing female characters.

I thought PR runs were a no-no during the strike, why's this bitch running her mouth?

R3 disagree. Yes, they had smaller roles but it worked for the time period it was set in and both gave effective performances. I think this is Blunt’s best performance since Prada.

Hmmm...I didn't realize Oppenheimer was supposed to be a feminist-forward movie.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 26, 2023 2:42 PM |
Nolan hired known abusers Gary Oldman and Casey Affleck for this film. I don't think he prioritizes women in any capacity.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 26, 2023 2:49 PM |
He used accused abusers.

And good for him. I would use them too if they were right for the part. They’re actors acting.

There is no "them" OP, just read the article. She enjoyed working on the film and didn't care that it was a smaller role.

R10 I don’t recall claiming she had a problem with it. Reading is essential

It is nice that she was so gracious in accepting a smaller role but Nolan should have had her as the unrecognized one really designing the bomb in the background.

Her role was effective. She has Oscar buzz. More screentime doesn’t mean better. If anything too much of someone can actually hurt their performance or likability in the long run. Both Pugh and Blunt work better in smaller doses.

Her name was above the title so I assumed she would have a significant role. Indeed they are intensely pushing her as a leading lady and audiences just aren't buying it. After watching the movie, I was surprised at how little screen time she had. She was decent in a small but pivotal role. Nolan seemed to suggest that her "suicide" was fishy. The one thing I did find bizarre was the nudity. It felt forced and unnecessary.

R12: She seems to be in it for the work, which is refreshing. Somebody like Mouseboy would never accept anything below the title.

Unusual humility from an actor.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 26, 2023 3:27 PM |
She was a heck of a lot better than Oldman's hamfest of a cameo.

r14 Nudity is never forced nor unnecessary Mr Puritan.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 26, 2023 3:35 PM |
She's a far better actress than Margot Robbie.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 26, 2023 3:37 PM |
No she’s not.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 26, 2023 3:38 PM |
R15 Mouseboy had a small role in Dont Look Up, and like Pugh, stood out.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 26, 2023 3:48 PM |
Who is the weirdo that always compares her to Margot Robbie? They’re literally nothing alike outside of being white women with bottle blonde hair.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 26, 2023 3:48 PM |
R21: No he didn't.
