Cecil dead?
Wasn't expecting that.

What's up with all these soap legends dying recently?
Jackie Zeman, Andrea Evans and Nancy Frangione have all died this summer. And Lisa Brown died last winter.
All were in their late 60s or early 70s.

Has Victoria Wyndham commented?

I loved when Nancy-new to the Cecile role - landed a few home truths to bugeyes. Bugeyes gave her a good slap.

R6,
Around here, she’s referred to as Lady Eyes-A-Bugging.

Jamie Frame is so upset that he'll be in the Tops parking lot all night, offering his mouth to any friends or strangers that need comfort.
Especially the Winthrop brothers.....

Nancy and Chris Rich were married in real life for 14 years, 1982-96.
Met on the show and fell in love.
They have a daughter named Mariel.

She wasn't the *real* Tara Martin.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 23, 2023 8:13 PM |
She also showed her vajayjay on Broadway in Equus.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 23, 2023 9:22 PM |
Her scenes with Anna Stuart, Stephen Schnetzer and Lady Eyes A Buggin were electric. She always provided a jolt of adrenaline to Bay City when she would show up.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 23, 2023 9:26 PM |
She was so bland as Tara on AMC, but electric as Cecile.

I preferred the previous actress to portray Cecile, Susan Keith.

How riveting, R18.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 24, 2023 3:39 AM |
R18, I had a friend from college who swore that Susan Keith was the most gorgeous woman she had ever seen in her life when she was playing Shana on Loving. Then it turned out she was married to "Uncle Porkchop" from AMC.

Cecile, Kathleen and Felicia get into a food fight over Cass, 1986z
Julie Osburn could play Cynthia Nixon’s sister.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 24, 2023 6:38 AM |
I mean Cass is hot but he ain't THAT hot!
All those women fighting over him! Where is the sizemeat in Bay City?

[quote]I mean Cass is hot but he ain't THAT hot!
Maybe if he were as hot as me, AW would still be on the air…

R.I.P. to Nancy Frangione, she really played Cecile to a hilt. She still had in her when she briefly returned in the 90's with all of their rotating teen Maggie's (Robyn Griggs R.I.P., Jody Lyn O'Keefe and Lisa D. Brenner) I think I've named them all, although I don't recall if she was on opposite Robyn's Maggie. It was sad to hear that her marriage to Christopher Rich didn't last, at least they had some time together though. I didn't see her as Tara Martin on AMC nor as temp Tina Lord on OLTL, yet Cecile was undoubtedly her biggest soap role.

R2 It's very disappointing, to say the least. There's also Sharon Farrell (Flo Webster, Y&R)
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 27, 2023 5:26 PM |
R12 Real life soap love stories are the best.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 27, 2023 5:28 PM |
R13 So silly. I think she was #3? Karen Lynn Gorney, Stephanie Braxton, Nancy Frangione, Mary Lynn Blanks off the top of my head. I wonder if they went blonde with Tara under Nancy and Mary Lynn to distinguish her from Erica. Mary Lynn if I'm not mistaken went on to ATWT where her character had quintuplets

R16 Lol isn't it funny how alot of soap actresses are bland as ingenues, yet a spark is lit under them as vixens
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 27, 2023 5:31 PM |
R20 Really, that's fascinating lol I've always found her rather ordinary looking. I had no idea Nancy wasn't even the original Cecile until I read that Susan Keith originated the role; I knew that name was familiar, I had forgot all about her. I remember her well as Shana from Loving and for being married to Uncle Porkchop irl lol
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 27, 2023 5:35 PM |
I've always thought Cass was sexy lol especially in his younger days.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 27, 2023 5:35 PM |
Susan Keith was quite good as Cecile. Excellent. But Nancy took the role to new heights. She was perfect in the part and Cecile became one of the show's leading ladies because of Nancy's portrayal.
Much like happened with Raven on Edge of Night. Juanin Clay originated the role and made her a force to be reconned with. But it when Juanin left, Sharon Gabet was cast as Raven.
Sharon just had a spark that sent Raven into the stratosphere. Sharon transformed Raven from a supporting character to the show's lead.

All of Jamie’s wives were scheming shrews using him for money when they were married, the way Rachel used Russ Matthews. Blaine and Vicky became heroines but Cecile was scheming and grasping to the end.
They should have had Cecile make an aggressive play for Mac at some pint. Rachel would have fucked her up.

I remember watching both Susan Keith and Nancy Frangione. Nancy really did take the role to new levels. RIP Nancy. The plot line with her and Alma trying to drive Blaine insane was incredible.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 27, 2023 11:17 PM |
As I recall, when Susan Keith's contract came up for renewal in 1981, she asked for more money and perks than Paul Rauch wanted to give. So, he opted to recast the role of Cecile.
That's how we ended up with Nancy Frangione in role. It also sent a message to the rest of the AW cast not to ask for too much when their contracts were up.
FYI: Nancy was an instant recast. Susan's last day on air was June 4, 1981. Nancy's first day on air was June 5, 1981.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 28, 2023 5:42 AM |
Here's that June 5 episode. Nancy's first appearance is at 12:54 with a classic "The role of Cecile Frame is now being played by Nancy Frangione" announcement.

Cynthia Watros was OK as an ingenue but wow, when she let the bitch out...it was fabulous

Colleen Zenk going from wimpy and put upon Barbara to “Simply Barracuda” was awesome. She was a great bitch and way more interesting once Marland made the choice to take the character in another way.
I never saw anyone other than Nancy as Cecile as I didn’t really start paying attention to AW until around 1984 or so. She was excellent, a vixen, sure, but also pretty funny.

Cecile and Alma…..soap perfection

Liz Hubbard would have made a good Elena de Poulignac. Both shared a craving for youthful dick.
