Blind Item- Former A-List actress is reduced to selling autographs with D-Listers
“This actress was A list when she was a teen with a movie franchise that has been rebooted and she was A- list for years after that. She had some projects crash and burn and some relationships crash even harder. All of you know her. Now, she is reduced to selling autographs with a bunch of D listers at a 4th rate con.”
I wonder who it is. Their career has fallen hard

Clearly it's the millennial version of Brendad — Tami "Pippi Longstocking" Erin.

Anna Paquin? X-men being the franchise. She never does anything anymore but I don’t remember hearing about any bad relationships

"a teen with a movie franchise that has been rebooted and she was A- list for years after that."
Reboots are a dime a dozen but teen in a franchise not so much. I wonder how they define "A-" list?
J-Law was in her 20s in Hunger Games (and X Men), SJo was in her 20s in Avengers, Eliot Page was 18 or 19 in her first X-Men. And yes, K-Stew is the best bet but I cannot picture her needing to do autograph shows. She does not crave the spotlight and appears to live the simple life of your average dyke.

I don’t think this BI is her, but Cristina Ricci is doing a low rent con near me. Isn’t she on two hit shows right now?

R4 Blind Items have been a Datalounge mianstay for decades. I’ve missed them in the past years. I suggest you get used to them.
On the flip side of this BI I was shocked as hell to find out 80s perennial teen actress Jamie Gertz is the wealthiest actress in Hollywood. Who knew!

Lots of actors/celebs do cons now.
It generates publicity for projects, is great extra cash in hand, build a loyal fanbase, etc...
I constantly see working celebs appear now. There is no stigma.
Evangeline Lily, Lizzie Oleson, Andrew Garfield, Karen Gillan, Paul Wesley... even older talents are jumping on the bandwagon like Christopher Lloyd, Barbara Eden. Hell I'm excited that in a month I get to meet Diane Baker. Then in November, the horse hung Ryan Potter.

In 2 weeks, I get to finally meet John Wesley Shipp whom I will always remember from the very early days of Datalounge when someone posted they hooked up with him and said his asshole had the "consistency of raw hamburger."

Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart, and Elliot Page are all working, they may not be earning the biggest bucks of their careers but they're all consistently employed.
Neve Campbell sounds like a better bet, this is the sort of thing that happens to actresses over forty.

All of the SCREAM cast do cons, aside from Drew Barrymore and Courtney Cox.
Campbell, Arquette, Ulrich, Lillard, Kennedy, McGowan, Shelton... even the guy who does the telephone voice.
They get huge lines and make out like bandits.

And since Hayley wasn't coming, then Juliet cancelled. And no Juliet equals no Maxwell.

Honestly, why wouldn't any actor who isn't currently pulling in tens of millions per role do conventions? Great way to make thousands of dollars (some of it in cash) by allowing the unwashed masses to tell you how fabulous you are for a day or two. Most actors can always use extra money - for the most part, it's a hand to mouth existence.

Exactly. I go to conventions here and there. Some of these people make A SHIT TON of money. Some of them are charging $100-$200 to sign there name on a glossy photo or stand for a selfie and many of them have lines for days/hours. Even if you don't like interacting with the people (and some of them can be really terrible...) there's a lot of cash to be made. Also keep in mind that a lot of these stars get wholesale deals to sign a stack of photos in their hotel room before or after.
Also some of the biggest stars are doing private signings now, people like Andrew Garfield, Benedict Cummerbatch, etc. so it's really not as looked down on as much as it was 5-10 years ago.

R61 I totally forgot about Jennifer Love Hugetits.
I find it fascinating how B list actresses from the aughts either ended up billionaires like Jessica Alba or selling their souls at D-List conventions. How did a huge publicity whore like Jlove, who’d turn her Mom’s eczema into a People cover story, miss the billionaire mark? She was everywhere at one point.

This is an example of what I hated about pursuing acting. Not that I ever did anything major, but once you become a name on any level, it ruins you for all kinds of other work outside of directing or producing. You can whittle away a lifetime waiting for your big break OR if you get lucky early, you’re hustling the rest of you career to remain relevant. And your money burns super fast because all of this takes a team. And if you decide you actually want to do something else with your life - you are considered to have “fallen off” your life is a failure.
