In all seriousness, what is wrong with Ben Shapiro?

The average person is cursed with a sense of shame, so they assume people like Ben Shapiro or Tucker Carlson are capable of recognizing how ridiculous they appear. However, in the world of online media, any attention is good attention. Take for instance the video of Ben burning Barbies or reacting to Barbie.

Even though he comes across as unhinged, those videos received millions of excess views because people couldn’t resist giving him the attention he craves. Take any pop cultural phenomenon and Ben is 100% guaranteed to react with mock outrage because he knows it’s money in his pocket.

I agree - I think these people just must experience zero shame. It's the only explanation I can think of. Either that or they truly are extremely low IQ and genuinely don't understand that their prejudices equate to fascism and third world economies.

My father worked for the Kansas City Royals for years and Rush Limbaugh worked there before he got into radio and became famous for his brand of well you know the rest. I have noticed in my life a direct correlation between intelligence and humor. Humor as in the ability to recognize how absurd so much of the world is, not “The Three Stooges” kind of humor. Zealots lack any humor or wit, or appreciation of either.

Case in point. I was out to dinner with my extended family and got into a debate about AI with my brother in law’s wife. She eventually made one of those broad, topic-ending statements people make when they don’t have the facts to continue debating yet want to appear to be an expert: “Well, all I can say is that AI is going to be the death of us all.”

I paused, then said (deadpan) “I think we’ve already had the ‘death of us all’ with Donald Trump in the White House.” There was a moment of pin drop silence before she started with “Oh, no no no, you don’t want to talk politics with me…!”

Then her husband restrained her. It was fabulous…and I was serious: if you can’t step above your beliefs for a few moments, take a look down, and recognize how absurd the world we currently live in is, you are lacking intelligence. Not to mention I had not actually been criticizing her lord and savior Donald Trump, merely pointing out that 2016/17 is when the US began its descent.

He has a "hard face" -- what normally causes shame or embarrassment in the average person doesn't register with hard faces and it's not because they're good actors, as posters upthread have noted.
