R36 honestly I think his PR really mishandled his initial interviews, where he talked about how he shouldn’t have to say what he was. Not because he was wrong — he’s not — but because he’s so so young, they let him be drawn into that conversation and used as an easy target for people. People have felt that resentment re, say, Harry styles. But his army of stans mean those voices are a drop in the bucket. For Kit, who was so young, so new to fame, with more toxic voices, and who is actually queer and clearly really hurt by the shit talking, it was a fucking terrible experience.

I honestly think this way about all the cast. Much as I loathe bash now, he actually was decently low drama and unproblematic for a long time. Even if people don’t find him hot, which is inexplicable to me but whatever, Joe is far from the ugliest person to have led a TV show. I think for the trolls and assholes, a lot of it was the fact that they got a reaction out of the cast, rather than just the fans. The queerbaiting people delighted in Kit seeing and being hurt by their messages, the same way people tag and @ joe about being ugly. It was sort of confirmed for me when they quit twitter, and a lot of new IG hate accounts sprang up to follow them over. Fucked up.

1. Don’t think kit, Tobie, and everyone else would fully cut Joe off even if he did something bad, as they’re colleagues and friends. But he would not be plastered on Kits grid, Tobie wouldn’t conspicuously leave bash out of his grid post, things like that. Ergo, Joe may have been the one to end it, but he didn’t do anything particularly bad. Also, Connor is clearly taking sides so for him to continue liking all joes shit, for example, says something. Also Doulla liked that video of Joe and kit. So if we’re using Lucy’s social media likes, there we go.

2. Bash literally has form. He has given many interviews even pre breakup making himself sound like a sweetheart, a wronged person, how he wears his heart on his sleeve and it gets crushed, how his optimism and love make him a Sagittarius, how he’s loyal. And yet this is also the person who went no contact with his ex and An entire friend group in the past and whose friends and family all no longer follow that ex. For all we know this is James 2.0

3. I do think Kit, Tobie, Will, and the others are all frankly in both a tough and an easy spot. Tough in the sense that trying to navigate a hard friend breakup, especially in the public eye and between colleagues, sucks. But easy in the sense that Joe is a fucking saint and doesn’t seem to be putting pressure on literally anyone to stop being nice to bash. He’s better than me because after pride I absolutely would have had to be honest that he was shit for my mental health and that interacting with him in any way was toxic at this point.

I think Bash invited Joe to his summer villa with his friends or wanted to confirm if Joe was still down and Joe said he wasn't. With the recent interview where Joe said he would go everywhere while feeling burnout, I think Joe said to Bash that he felt burnout and needed to go home or something like that. Bash took that as Joe wanting to break up/have sex with other people so he called him a hoe (which would explain Joe's 'I'm a slut' ig story). They had a big fight and left it at that. I think Joe is the type to move on fast and he was hurt so he posted that story with OF Nick. Bash felt blindsided because his stupid ass thought they would get back together and now when his friends are asking what happened with them, he says that Joe gave up (per that recent interview where he said his vice is doing anything for the people he loves). I'm sure he's telling them all the things he did for Joe (helped him move in Atlanta, pay for his stuff back when Joe was living with him, etc.) and omitting any wrongdoing.

I also honestly think part of people downplaying how shitty and toxic bash is being is because they have an image that if bash was being that bad, surely kit, Tobie, will, or whatever would be heroic and take joes side and cut him off. But in reality, these are teenagers in a tough spot given they’ve also worked together. Maybe a late 20s version of them would remove himself from the situation altogether and have stronger boundaries with bash, but I do think the fact that Joe is staying close lipped on the whole thing means the cast are happier to sort of pretend all is good right now and try to be close to both, even though bash is being an absolute cunt. Don’t blame them for it, these situations suck and they’re really young
