I wonder why they haven't announced the new houseguests, yet. Don't they usually post those in advance?

I haven't even seen any commercials for the upcoming season. Has anyone else? Are they still going forward with everything since the strikes? I know this is the reason it has been postponed. But did the combined SAG and Writer's Guild bring it to a screeching halt?

The Network Television Code is a different contract than the one currently being disputed, any reality TV work can go through as planned. So that means any SAG-AFTRA members, including Julie Chen Moonves, are able to work without issue. That means we are all systems go for her to appear on the season 25 premiere on Wednesday, August 2, ready to kick off a milestone season for the ages.

There is a Survivor, Big Brother mash-up happening this season.

Jared Fields, the son of Survivor legend Cirie Fields and Cory Wurtenberger, the brother of Survivor 42’s Zach Wurtenberger, are among the 16 new houseguests competing for the $750,000 grand prize this season.

Also cast this season is Matt Klotz, a deaf swimmer has won five gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze at the Deaflympics. He also awarded the ICSD Deaf Sportsman of the Year by International Committee of Sports for the Deaf for his record-setting performances.

There's been some speculation about this guy having a connection to CornShit, but I'm gonna go with a connection to RockStar. I'm probably wrong, but I figured I'd throw that out there ...ON MY DAUGHERS BIRTHDAY!

First look and meet the houseguests

So this one is pretty straightforward and surprisingly supportable which is something of an oddity in the preseason fan theory category. It’s going to be a divided house! Pink Vs Blue for the two sides and it’s been right in front of us the whole time including Julie throwing it at us and the Big Brother 25 cast reveal making it even more obvious.

When the cast was revealed on Monday I was looking at them individually but when you step back and take a look at their wardrobe there’s an obvious identifier with a LOT of pink clothing, which I noticed but didn’t consider too much, and a LOT of blue too. As it turns out, it’s a balanced number with even the “older” HGs being split and gender divisions being even.

That last comp - where one group was pulled by giant hands, was the most boring comp I think I’ve ever witnessed, especially for a premiere episode. I kept waiting for it to start. There was no indication that any of them were being pulled. They just laid there, doing nothing. Not good television, people.

My cable went out after the first comp.. sounds like I didn’t miss much.

The energy was weird, the setup was weird and the hand pulling challenge was weird. The whole multiverse twist is confusing on top of all that. 100 days of this? Rescue-Chick, the last competition had the 4 players laying on the ground holding on to tiny grips(?) that the audience could barely make out. There were told they were being pulled by some kind of scary hand attached to their legs - but they never moved. The only time there was any movement was when Cory was pulled into a “pit” and lost. I found this article that has a pic and a good review of the episode.

I know Big Brother’s producers cannot produce engaging live television, which is part of its broken-beyond-repair charm, but even by that low standard, the premiere of BB25 was a dreadful snore. They couldn’t even make Cirie Fields’ appearance into a dramatic or surprising moment.

The “live” 90-minute premiere was about 20 minutes of TV, stretched apart by lengthy commercial breaks and Julie Chen Moonves’ glacial delivery, perhaps caused by someone tripping over her cord and her battery wearing out.

The producers literally gave us an entire challenge that was just four people lying on a padded mat. For almost five minutes, literally nothing happened. And then when it did, and one of the four players let go, the control room missed that moment.

Was this premiere a cry for help? It appeared intentionally lethargic, with everyone on screen looking either bored or scared. The big reveals were presented with all the enthusiasm of watching milk curdle.

Big Brother 25’s first episode was so weird that I started creating conspiracy theories to explain it. Is this Paramount Global’s message to striking actors and writers? We don’t need you! We can fill three hours a week for more than three months with a show that created an entire act break of prime-time television out of people sprawled out on the ground!

Maybe this whole show is a subversive advertisement for the WGA and SAG-AFTRA, and the need to similarly unionize reality TV cast and crew? I’m here for that!

After 30 minutes of the either delightfully cheesy and/or insufferably staged cast intros, depending upon your level of sobriety, Julie Chen Moonves gathered the houseguests on the stage. Then she made them stand awkwardly for another 20 minutes.

“Who’s ready to hear this season’s big twist?” she finally asked, and instead of hearing that they were shown the “time laser” sketch with Danielle, Britney, and Frankie attempting to act while looking at nothing. (My favorite part was how clearly visible the tape marks were on the floor, indicating where they should stand and place the time laser.)

Pre-season, Big Brother 25’s cast seemed particularly strong, and not just because of two of their connections to a much-better CBS reality competition: Survivor legend Cirie Fields’ son, Jared. Survivor 42’s second-out Zach Wurtenberger’s brother, Cory.

And I must admit I fell in love with the BB25 houseguests a little more when they reacted to the time laser with these faces, perhaps a sense memory of their own awkward attempt at acting surprised when they were given their fake key.

I also fell in love with Felicia who, when Julie said “Felicia,” started walking toward the door, trying to leave as soon as possible. I’m right there with you, Felicia! Julie said: “Hang on. Just. Listen. For. Your. Name. And then. I’ll. Direct. You.”

Julie Chen Moonves delivered almost every line like that. Did someone realize they didn’t have 90 minutes of content, so they told her to fill time?

Speaking of the cast: Rumors of Cirie Fields’s appearance on BB25 have been floating around for days now, and I admit I was skeptical. Why would a legend Cirie debase herself by appearing on CBS’s worst show?

When she appeared, I did momentarily feel a twinge of sorrow that she’d agree to this—but then I realized that it must have been very tempting to walk away with $750,000 after bowling over 15 starstruck players and her own kid. And that’s half a million more than she received for winning The Traitors.

The other twist, such that it was, is that “the Big Brother universe that you think you know has completely changed,” as Julie Chen Moonves said while the moon orbited the earth several times. After a commercial, she offered more meaningless words: “things went horribly wrong”; “the Big Brother multiverse”; “changed the game, creating the most unpredictable season of Big Brother ever”; “a lot still remains a mystery.”

Probably still a mystery to the producers too, huh? But props to them for really reading the pop culture moment and deciding that the multiverse felt fresh and new, and ripe for mining here in mid-2023.

The “four universes [that] have taken over” are the Comic-verse, the Humili-verse, the Scary-verse, and the Scramble-verse. They couldn’t even make those grammatically parallel, going with two nouns, an adjective, and a verb.

Each of those was tied to a competition in the backyard. The challenges were not for HOH though. No, the big, dramatic twist was delivered to us and then to the houseguests with all the energy and excitement of filling out a tax form.

“So the houseguests are ready to compete,” Julie said, and then paused for about 14 years. “Uh oh. It looks like the scramble-verse is about to twist up premiere night.” She told them, “you need to know the scramble-verse has just changed the game. … The game has been scrambled, and you are not competing to become HOH. That’s right, this is not a Head of Household competition. This is a nomination competition.”

I don’t think any of them heard her because they’d all slipped into unconsciousness. But yes, the losers were nominated for eviction, before an HOH was appointed, which effectively turns Big Brother into Survivor, if challenge losers are going to be the only ones who are vulnerable.

The first challenge was to undo a puzzle, placing the pieces in a box—so really, a puzzle, though I’ll give it points for cleverness. What makes great television? Watching people run back and forth to retrieve puzzle pieces without talking, with discordant stock music appearing from nowhere to fill the space.

“Remember: the key here is, don’t be last in this competition. Otherwise, you will be nominated for eviction tonight,” Julie said, in case any of them dozed off earlier.

Big Brother challenges have definitely improved in recent years, at least in terms of set design, though plenty still involve giant phalli and stuff ejaculating in people’s faces.

Cory was the fourth loser, so both players related to Survivor players are in danger. Cory lost the final, lying-on-the-ground competition, where Julie said he’d “disappear into the nether-region. How long will they be gone? Only the Scary-verse knows.”

Does the Scary-verse also know the most-common definition of nether regions?

After that, everyone went inside, where Cirie Fields was there with champagne. “For the first time ever, a Survivor legend will be playing Big Brother,” Julie said.

That it’s taken 23 years for someone to go from Survivor to Big Brother really tells us something about Big Brother, and so does the fact that this premiere felt like it was 23 years long. Just 99 days to go.

These four challenges? Bad television, even the ejaculating one.

One doesn’t need to be 100% deaf to be legally deaf people. He’s legally deaf but can hear 50% with the earpiece. It will be a challenge for him.

Some of you may not realize deaf people enter the real world every day. They don't need to have interpreters with them at all times. People who are challenged look for unique ways to overcome. I have a deaf friend who is a prosecutor; do you think he relies on special considerations in order to practice? He doesn't.

He tells me his eyesight gathers more details than others do. He watches body movements. He can read lips across a room. I'm sure Matt has the same capabilities.

Remember Christy Smith, the deaf contestant on Survivor? She finished sixth, better than 2/3 of the other contestants.

What most of us were wondering his how well can he hear Julie making announcements and giving instructions on game play over a loudspeaker when he cannot see her to read her lips or body language. It's just a muffled voice in the air. The non-deaf contestants often have trouble hearing Julie in these situations. So for all of the competitions, he will not be able to hear or see Julie.

Grande's straw hair makes my scalp itch & burn just looking at it. And the makeup has me feeling claustrophobic.

In speaking to Hisam, Cory and Jared, Luke Valentine, the illustrator from Florida, appeared to utter a racial slur in a casual manner.

She said if it seems like Reilly’s staying, she’ll vote that way too. Hisam didn’t help his case when, asked by Mecole later why they should keep Cameron, he casually mentioned his alliance with Jag and Blue, but he insisted he’s still loyal to the Professors. By the end, the only people in the house who didn’t know (and still don’t) about the flip were Hisam, Cameron, Red and Bowie. They were unsure how to pull Red and Bowie in, so they’re in the dark for now. Bowie is so in the dark that she remarked in the afternoon, “Today has been a non-event.” Or your game is.

So everything was in place, Cameron was set to be a goner on Thursday. But at the end of the night, Cirie and Izzy started waffling for… no reason really. But they discussed how Cameron would go after Hisam next week anyway and that Jared, Mecole and Cory were never huge fans of the vote-flip, so it might be easier to cut Reilly loose. They wondered if it was wise to get Hisam all “riled up” because he’ll be more determined to fight — this after they spent, like, 36 hours talking about how much they wanted to see him blow up after getting blindsided. Mecole was informed that the plan might be off, so she took her cam rant to the HOH bathroom this time and vented about this “madhouse.” Cirie and Izzy decided to inform everyone that it’s 50/50 now, including Reilly. “I don’t know why they are switching,” Cirie told her. Well, they’re not, you are.

The back-and-forth is far from shocking, of course, with how much time they have to stew over this stuff. But at this point, it’s better for them to go through with the flip. Cirie and Izzy put in all the work to collect the votes behind their alliance’s back, confirm to Reilly and her allies they have the votes, and now they’re wavering and saying it might be off. If the flip doesn’t happen, they’re just risking themselves at being exposed for trying to orchestrate one and alienating allies on all sides. But Wednesday brings a brand new day of waffling.

The odds are in Felicia's favor as Hisam has expressed a desire to step back from winning, but the plan will fail if he wins the veto or if Red wins and doesn't use it.

Felicia's plan is a win for her either way - either Hisam goes home or she evicts someone not in her alliance.

The one who is the drama at the beginning is always ousted. They have not even featured any of the other guest other than Cirie, Izzy, Felecia and Hisam. The mother-son thing has not really been played. There is plenty of drama in there it just has not been stirred. Every BB season is the same, they get who they think is the bad guy out of house and then the real drama ensues. Only one season did that not happen, Evil Dick.

The pressure cooker is still going, almost 12 hours now, airing live on the feeds. SPOILER: Still standing are Jag, Blue, Mecole, Cameron and America. This week is not looking good for the Professors. They should have kept Hisam for 2 more weeks to eliminate players from the other side.

It has been over 12 hours and the Big Brother Pressure Cooker HoH challenge is still on. The challenge started at the conclusion of last night’s live eviction episode.

Remaining in the challenge at present are Cameron, America and Mecole.

The first out last night were both Jared and Cirie who lasted approximately 90 minutes. It isn’t clear what eliminated them but when the feeds returned after being cut there were snakes in the middle of the room in a plexiglass shell.

Big Brother turned the lights back on. Cirie claimed she accidentally took her hand off her button.

“Hisam has speeches. They never went over well,” said Cameron as everyone held on tight to their buttons. “He and Julie (Chen Moonves) must have had a really interesting chat.”

At 12:00 midnight, Big Brother turned off the lights again and began blowing cold air at them while a video screen played messages from Big Brother alum Kaysar Ridha.

Izzy dropped out at about four hours into the competition she was followed three and a half hours later by Bowie. A couple of hours following Bowie’s exit both Red and Matt dropped at nearly the same time as Big Brother started playing thrash metal music in the Pressure Cooker and adding strobe lighting.

Cory then dropped approximately two and a half hours after Red and Matt. Shortly after Cory both Blue and Jag exited a few minutes apart from each other.

The original Pressure Cooker challenge went approximately 14 hours.

On the live eviction show Hisam was unanimously voted out of the house.

In an ironic twist of fate Cameron wins HOH. Guess he's tired of being on the block.

Hissam has a split personality. He completely changed and became a huge queen as soon as his heal set on the set with Julie.

Cirie, Felicia, Izzy and Jared are not even on Cameron's radar, despite the fact they put him up for eviction twice and they campaigned to keep Hasim for a few hours. They finally realized they were more vulnerable without Hasim, but the damage had been done.

I thought Izzy’s speech to Hisam last night was pretty harsh. She showed none of the sensitivity that Felicia and Cirie did in their speeches to him about his behaviour. Even more so because he said he considered her his closest ally in the house.

Finally I have found a sweet spot for viewing this season. I read Joker and Hamster and this thread only Friday and Saturday. On Friday morning, I watch the week's three episodes back-to-back on cbs.com. It makes the miserable editing a bit more tolerable and there are no cliffhangers but small ones like this week's HOH comp.

It was good to see Kaysar looking as nice as ever. This year's cast is deeply unattractive.

Yesterday, one-by-one, the houseguests were brought into the diary room and perhaps beyond to play for the power.

The four houseguests with the most votes won the ability to compete for the Power of Invincibility. The top four vote-getters faced off in a competition which will be shown on Thursday’s eviction episode with the winner receiving the game-changing power. The power allows the houseguest to save an evicted player during one of the next two evictions. They can also save themselves.

HoH Jared nominated Cameron and Red. Cameron won the Power of Veto and pulled himself off the block at today’s meeting. Jared nominated Jag in his place.

After the veto ceremony Jag spoke with Jared in the HoH room. He assured him that Red is the target not him and then Cameron is next.

Bowie Jane, Felicia, Izzy and Cirie were up early before everyone else today putting up decorations for Red’s birthday celebration. Red is turning 38-years-old in the house and Big Brother provided the decorations leaving them on the kitchen table for the houseguests.

The women then made breakfast for Red and brought it to his bedside in the comic book bedroom. They wished a bleary-eyed Red a happy birthday as Big Brother turned on the bedroom lights for them.

“Dang! You guys are awesome!” said Red as they presented him with his breakfast and then went to work on his coffee.

Red brought his dishes to the kitchen when he was done and smiled as he admired the decorations.

Outside on the patio, the game was on once again with Felicia, Izzy and Cirie scheming.

“Jag is going to see all the of love for Red today and know he is going home,” said Felicia.

Cirie thinks they need to make Cameron feel safe so he doesn’t come out gunning for HoH this week.

The conversation switched back to Cameron.

It is as easy as a Big Brother Slop recipe. At least Izzy thinks so.

Izzy has her, Cirie’s and Jared’s path to the final three already laid out. She revealed her plan to Jared in the HoH room using candies to represent houseguests.

“Me, mom and you in the final three,” she began moving those three candies away from the others.

She then arranged the rest.

“Now we have got Blue, Jag and Matt. We have Bowie and Cameron. I am already moving on with Red out. We have Felicia and Mecole then Cory and America,” she said. “Blue and Bowie would be the perfect goats for our final five.”

Izzy then focused on America and the duos who would be left after Red, Cameron and Jag are toast.

“We know that Cory and America want to be with us longer than they want to be with the others. We have to break up the duos and America can be wherever,” she said.

“The only way to break them up is send one of them home,” Jared said referring to the duos.

“Felicia is more of a threat than Mecole. Jag and Cameron are the same. We want to get them out next. Then, Matt and Felicia are a thing. It can be America and Cory or Mecole. America can be with either one of them. If we keep Blue and Bowie we are down to five,” continued Izzy.

Izzy detailed the final five.

“Blue will always have your back. Bowie will have Cirie’s back but I have both of your backs,” she said.

She then revealed a red flag to Jared.

“My only concern in taking Cory out before America is you being the only dude left. We wouldn’t have the votes to save you if they wanted to get out the last guy. My thing is if we keep Cory instead of America they cannot do that,” she pointed out.

“Right, they cannot push that,” said Jared signing off on Izzy’s proposed plan.

This week, HoH Jared nominated Cameron and Red for eviction. Cameron won the Power of Veto and used it on himself. Jared then nominated Jag in Cameron’s place.

The biggest threat to Cirie and Izzy's game is Jared's stupidity.

But Matt is super loyal to Cirie? She even moved him up after he revealed his secret power. They need to back door Izzy and make it Matt, Cirie in final two.

If Izzy pulls that off, she’ll win and Cirie will know Izzy will win.

Cirie will cut Izzy loose toward the very end. She's playing all these people.

Cirie and Jared will be final two unless something crazy happens. She won't go against Jared.

Cirie is only holding onto Lizzie until it doesn't matter if people find out that Jared is Cerie's son. That mean it should probably be five people or less. Rather Cirie's personal inner circle. Perhaps, Jared will be gone by then... fool as he is.

Well, this is an interesting twist. They all looked pretty pissed.

The Big Brother 25 week 6 Head of Household (HOH) was crowned during the live Thursday night eviction episode for the first time this season, and its winner was Cameron Hardin. This was Cameron's second HOH win, as he won the Pressure Cooker competition during week 4. The week 6 HOH competition followed the eviction during which the houseguests voted out Cameron's former main ally, Red Utley, by a vote of 8-2 over Jag Bains. HOH Jared Fields nominated Jag after Cameron saved himself by winning the Power of Veto. Despite having a falling out with Red, Cameron still voted to keep him in the house, along with Bowie Jane.

The Big Brother 25 week 6 HOH is Cameron. After the eviction, host Julie Chen Moonves told the houseguests that she'd received a transmission from the Humili-Verse. Week 6 would be Humili-Week, with humiliating competitions and consequences for the houseguests. The HOH competition was called "Name That Toot" and featured video compilations of the houseguests passing colorful gas. The houseguests had to answer seven questions about the colors of the toots. Cameron won the competition after five questions, knocking out Izzy Gleicher and Cory Wurtenberger on the fifth question. When Cameron won, the other houseguests were visibly disappointed, and didn't cheer for him.

Perhaps, Cirie and Jared will go on the block together. That would be interesting.

Apparently Cameron is already talking about targeting Jag and Blue… 🙄

Cameron has so many options for nominees this week, considering that he was betrayed by nearly everyone. With the exception of Bowie, everyone voted out his main ally, Red. Although the Legend 25 alliance members had tried to convince Cameron and Red that they should come back together, Cameron now knows for sure that the alliance is fake. He could target them, with the exception of Bowie, including Izzy, Cirie Fields, Felicia Cannon, Matt Klotz, and Mecole Hayes. Cameron might also seek revenge on Jared for nominating him. He could also nominate Jag or Matt, since Matt saved Jag from eviction with the Power of Invincibility during Cameron's original HOH.

Red became upset with Cameron and ended their Chillers alliance after HOH Jared stretched the truth and told Red that Cameron had thrown him under the bus. However, Cameron revealed in his confessional that he was just telling Jared what he wanted to hear. Red left without resolving the issue. It'll be interesting to see if Cameron finds out the truth about why Red was so disappointed in him and ended their alliance. Cameron should team up with Bowie so that he has at least one ally fighting for him next week when he's ineligible to play for HOH. He can't play the game alone.

Cameron got a raw deal after winning the Pressure Cooker competition with a near-record-breaking time of 13 hours and 49 minutes, and then having his HOH eviction overturned by the Power of Invincibility. This time, there most likely won't be a power to save either of Cameron's nominees. Cameron will surely want revenge on everyone this week, but the Humili-Verse has already given him a helping hand in that. As HOH, he's the only houseguest who's not a Have-Not this week, as everyone else will be on slop, having cold showers, and taking turns sleeping in the Humili-Verse bedroom. Cameron can rest easy knowing that he's safe for another week.

victed Big Brother 25 houseguest Red Utley was sent home after he believed Head of Household (HOH) Jared Fields' lie that Cameron Hardin had betrayed him, and he now admits that he owes Cameron "a big sorry." Cameron and Red had a Final 2 alliance called The Chillers. When Jared became HOH, he told Red that Cameron had betrayed him in order to save himself. Red was so upset that, instead of asking Cameron about it, he froze him out and ended the Chillers. Despite this, Cameron still voted for Red to stay in the game, along with Bowie Jane, making the final vote to evict Red 8-2 over Jag Bains.

In an interview with EW, Red confessed that maybe he should’ve talked to Cameron, “but at the end of the day you can't compromise your morals and your integrity. So I don't think I'd change anything, but I'll be giving him a big sorry at some point." Red explained that he’d heard from other people "who were obviously working with Jared" that Cameron had betrayed him. Red added, "And because I had given my word to not say anything about it — because there was a plan to backdoor Cam — and if he had said the things that he had said, then I was on board with that plan."
