Miss Joan Crawford Makes TV History This Fall On CBS In Her Very First Weekly Series, "Port Prentice"!!

Miss Crawford returns to the small screen as Joan Compton, a widowed mom of two children who moves to her hometown of Port Prentice, California to live a simple life after inheriting her late husband's cannery. The drama focuses on Joan's struggle as a traditional mom to raise her gender-neutral teenage children, Alex and Kit, as well as her simmering rivalry with the town's matriarch, Glenda Ebsen (Miss Olivia de Havilland), and on-again/off-again romance with a younger man, her late husband's attorney, Rafe Clarkman (George Maharis).

Also starring Ruby Dandridge; Fridays at 10 on CBS.

I heard there's a really epic hair-pulling scene between Joan and Olivia over bragging rights in episode 2

What, no role for long-suffering Joan Crawford co-star/starlet Diane Baker?

by Anonymousreply 3August 21, 2023 12:48 AM

Fail

by Anonymousreply 4August 21, 2023 12:53 AM

I'm looking forward to sweeps month and the arrival of Ruth Roman into Port Prentice.

I hear Joan slaps her face viciously, yelling, "I'll do anything for those kids — and I do mean ANYTHING!"

by Anonymousreply 5August 21, 2023 12:55 AM

I get this show confused with the Paula Prentiss Hour.

by Anonymousreply 6August 21, 2023 12:56 AM

Are we sure this isn't the latest iteration of a Lucille Ball show?

by Anonymousreply 7August 21, 2023 1:03 AM

Joan is FIERCE in the previews for the upcoming episode where she tells special guest star Lucy Marlowe, "If you walk out that door...don't plan on coming back through it." And I hear the vicious face slapping that follows tops the epic slap in "Queen Bee"! Mother may not care for it but I know what station our Zenith will be tuned to Friday nights at ten!

r7 Haven't you heard of inspiration?!

by Anonymousreply 9August 21, 2023 7:45 PM

r4 You do better. My threads come first in this house!

Maybe if you were clever OP it would be a fun thread.

Season finale/cliffhanger: Christina Crawford appears as jetsetting superbitch Desiderata de la Darrieux.

by Anonymousreply 12August 21, 2023 8:43 PM

Look at Imogene Coca at R11!

by Anonymousreply 13August 21, 2023 11:17 PM

I'd tune in.

by Anonymousreply 14August 21, 2023 11:21 PM

My mom won't watch because she said if it's not on DuMont it ain't worth watching.

by Anonymousreply 15August 21, 2023 11:22 PM

Make-up by Sherwin-Williams

by Anonymousreply 16August 21, 2023 11:23 PM

There have been rumors of tension between Miss Crawford and the producers over what they feel is an excessive amount of product placement for Pepsi Cola products.

by Anonymousreply 17August 22, 2023 1:45 PM

As long as there's no epic hair-pulling scene with George Maharis, we're gonna be okay.

All summer, everyone will be asking "Who shot Desiderata?"

And everyone will have the same answer.

by Anonymousreply 19August 22, 2023 4:57 PM

A scandal bigger than the "Rust" scandal is touched off when, hours before filming, real bullets are discovered in the gun Joan is to use to shoot Christina. The resulting fallout saves the series from budget cuts and earns Christina a permanent role in the series. The only downside is that they lose the story arc where Joan's maid, Beulah (Ruby Dandridge) informs on a BLM chapter in Port Prentice, to make room for the Joan/Desiderata fireworks.

I loved when Joan told Joan Collins, "This is burned. This Coca-Cola. It's burned. That's why I drink PEPSI COLA!"

by Anonymousreply 21August 23, 2023 3:03 AM

I like the way Joan Crawford says Port PurrenTISSSSS

by Anonymousreply 22August 23, 2023 3:27 PM

Any truth to the rumor that Clark Gable will soon be guest-starring in a multi-episode arc as an old flame of Joan's?

by Anonymousreply 23August 23, 2023 4:55 PM

Yes r23. Originally she wanted Billy Haines. But she was talked out of that.

by Anonymousreply 24August 24, 2023 5:27 AM

Ratings were so/so the first season. Knowing that she needs this to be a hit, Joan is preparing to start season two with a bang…….her first FULL FRONTAL NUDE scene.

Now we will finally know, does the carpet match the eyebrows?

by Anonymousreply 25August 24, 2023 5:46 AM

"her first FULL FRONTAL NUDE scene."

You didn't hear it from me, but her first full frontal nude scene was in a stag film and she made many of those. Full frontal nudity is old hat to Joan. Hell, I'm surprised she's not being spit-roasted for ratings.

OP- You forgot to mention that the VERY special guest star in the premiere episode will be none other than

HELEN LAWSON

by Anonymousreply 28August 25, 2023 1:36 AM

The credits included the first TRIPLE PIVOT in television history.

by Anonymousreply 29August 27, 2023 3:10 AM

The ratings are soft. Even the DLers are tuning out. The producers thought that if they could work just one epic, hair-pulling catfight into every episode, they'd have a guaranteed viewership for multiple seasons. Not so!

R, Couri Hay reports that the network is frantically trying to find someone to break the news to Joan that they're revamping the series to appeal to "a younger audience"!

by Anonymousreply 30January 8, 2024 1:22 PM

Not nearly as fresh as Gang Way for Lucy!

by Anonymousreply 31January 8, 2024 1:32 PM

Production is wondering why we have to provide her with a limo to take her to the limo.

Mamacita said it's part of the standard Star Contract for Miss Crawford.
