Books Read without Appropriate Context
I read Cat’s Cradle as a teenager and while I was’t completely ignorant of Los Alamos and the history of atomic weapons, it was only a superficial knowledge.
After seeing Oppenheimer yesterday I feel like it waste of a book reading to have read it without the appropriate background.
Have any of you had a similar experience with a book?

Yes, EL! I had this experience with For Whom The Bell Tolls. Didn't have enough understanding of the history of conflict in Spain and the Spanish Civil War to appreciate it fully.
Sad, I know!

Such a beautiful story though R1, independent of the history.
