Did "Madea" strangle the singer with her pantyhose?
"Shut your mouth you little bitch! That's what I paid you for, whore!"
Just a quiet walk on the beach post fuck.

I sense a certain "Duchess" will not just rally, but direct all of the "lovey" efforts, including a neverending lavish comfort spread on demand with servants under Meghan's lash replacing the merest of dry looking canapés for her beloved Tyler.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 27, 2023 8:05 PM |
Well, Tyler said his friend was in tears over it so that's why he was aware of it. But you and I suspect differently.
[quote]Perry...said his friend Yvette Noel-Schure was in tears when she told him about the killing. 'My soul ached as she shared that he was a young, gifted singer who was murdered because he was gay,” he wrote. “Yvette and I are offering a $100,000 dollar reward to anyone who brings forth information that leads to the conviction of the murderer.'
It's still nice he's willing to get involved.

I agree with r10. What a cheap-o. Though I do empathize with Tyler as a latent homo-romantic a’la Oprah, he can come across as an ingrate and a douche when it seems like he has nothing but everything to be thanking his lucky stars for.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 27, 2023 9:40 PM |
$100k is enough to motivate someone it come forward. Why should he give someone who didn’t come forward for free more than is necessary?
He’s paying someone who either has criminal ties or witnessed a criminal act for information, not rewarding a good deed.
Also, a reward that is too large will result in too many people making shit up to try and claim it.

Right. We would’ve caught Bin Laden years earlier if they capped the reward money at $100k instead of chasing all those false leads.

The money serves the purpose of garnering attention for the case.
Who among us, even among the sleaziest of us, might learn that a piece of info we hold is only worth $100k so decide to keep it to ourselves because it’s not enough?

No it's because of religious idiots in backwards primitive countries that need to be dragged kicking and screaming into the modern era. Those are the people you should be mad at. And yes, they do know better and no, it isn't anyone else's fault.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 28, 2023 2:27 AM |
R26 we had the same religious nuts here in America, we still do. But it was through Gay people demanding that we be seen as human beings and given the same rights that things shifted. It’s when gay people fought back and stopped hiding and became visible that the tide shifted. Like I said, it’s not a direct correlation but the a powerful person like Tyler Perry hiding, the impetuous behind it, is tied to the reason people feel so free to kill us for being gay.
People who hate gray people see them as the other instead of real human beings like themselves. They scapegoat them for all their problems. This only changes through exposure. Trust me if a gay person with money started turning some of those shanty towns in Jamaica into livable spaces, sentiments would change.

Everybody knows that Tyler Perry is gay. For, I'm assuming, financial reasons he has made the decision to not talk about it. He's kind of like the choir director at a black church. But whatever he's doing, he keeps it tight because no disgruntled ex hook-ups are running to TMZ.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 28, 2023 12:37 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 28, 2023 4:03 PM |
R34 whether anyone believes it or not is not the point. The point is that he hasn't SAID he is gay. The point is that he has gone out of his way to say he is not gay. So the overall impression coming from him is that being gay is something you still need to be afraid of and hide from in 2023. A black, openly gay billionaire could have a huge impact on a number of different communities.

r30 outside of Datalounge and gay community, people in America just don't care.
If he came out everyone would just say good for him, "we already knew", etc. Black people are generally private and do not discuss their personal lives, gay or straight. Jamie Foxx almost died and still won't tell people what happened.

by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 29, 2023 2:35 AM |
R52 Yes, private and dignified.
Tyler Perry made his fortune from cross-dressing as a violent old woman who beat her husband and kids, from producing sitcoms involving garishly-dressed Black families who beat their spouses and children, and producing a cable soap opera with more gay sex than an "Eating Out" sequel.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | July 29, 2023 2:39 AM |
It's good that he's helping. I'm sure there are many gay men who are murdered here in the States whose family and friends could also use help. He may be doing that, though, I don't know, but I hope so.

[quote]Black people are generally private and do not discuss their personal lives, gay or straight. Jamie Foxx almost died and still won't tell people what happened.
R52 I agree with you on some level. I don't think everyone needs to come out with a big pronouncement "I'M GAY!" When you think about it no other community outside of gay has to announce who they are to the world as they figure themselves out. But we do have to recognize there is a huge difference between being Private and Hiding. And I think a lot of people abuse the word Private as an excuse to hide. His heterosexual relationship that led to a child was surely well publicized. We knew about that. If asked a casual question, most straight people have no problem stating, "My wife and I," "My girlfriend," "My partner." Gay people can still be private and mention "My Husband," "My boyfriend" or "I just haven't found the right guy yet." I don't need to know what you do in bed. But it is important that the world know we are out here and lead normal lives, having loving long term relationships, have struggles just like every other relationship out there.
His hiding makes the gay everyone suspects he is seem like some kind of perversion and something of which to be ashamed.

r56 the thing is though what if he doesn't have a boyfriend or partner to casually mention? I know we love to joke about him having a male harem composed of the hot guys he casts (I sure as hell have). But would you consider it "hiding" if he has no romantic life to share at all? I doubt he has a romantic life (with a woman or man) after he separated from his child's mother. He's a notorious workaholic, 53 years old. I just don't see him ever mixing it up with messy guys in Atlanta or elsewhere, I dont care how hot they are.

by Anonymous | reply 64 | July 29, 2023 8:53 PM |

I think once you're paying your own bills, it's crazy if you're not out. But, celebrities need to come out for themselves and no one else. They don't owe anyone anything. Name one gay male celebrity (lesbians don't count) who has come out and his career got better?

Milo (post-coming out, but pre-yestergay era)

R69 Tyler Perry is a Billionaire. You can't compare the affect coming out would have on his career to that of Dustin Lance Black who is a screenwriter. Dustin Lance Black peaked after winning an Oscar (not to mention his porn pics), not when he came out as a lot of people do. It wasn't because he came out, (wasn't he pretty much always out?). And that was fourteen years ago. The world has changed considerably since then. Tyler Perry could be married to a man with kids and a family and no one would bat an eyelash - even his stalwart black core audience wouldn't care. In the beginning, before he was revealed to be a liar, the black community rallied around Jussie Smollett who was out and gay when he was attacked. A lot of them still do. Jussie's character was gay on the show and it was one of the biggest shows on TV made so by a large black audience.

Is posting reward money "For a Friend" the same as "Asking for a Friend...?"
by Anonymous | reply 74 | July 30, 2023 11:11 AM |
Listen, I understand what the man is doing is a good thing. But the more I read the article the more it strikes me how off it is. Anyone normal person would have reported themselves being moved by the death, reporting on the singer himself and wanting to post a reward. But Perry has to make it clear to the listening audience that he received this information through a friend - as if if he is so removed from the gay community that this news wouldn't have even reached his shores if it were not for his dear heartbroken friend. His need to purposely distance himself shows he is either lying about knowing this person personally OR so afraid of being associated directly with anyone or anything gay. The fact that he is offering 100K makes me believe it's the former.

I wouldn't say sinister. TP is like Will Smith, Mark Wahlberg, etc. These men grew up in the streets and sometimes this type of guy may have episodes where they are triggered back into street behavior.
I remember in one of TP's stage plays like 20 years ago he was in full Madea gear in a scene and starting yelling at staff backstage for being so loud. He kept it pretty PG but you can tell he will lose his shit.
