r3 good movie. If you are not familiar with many of the scientific and political figures of the era a little Wiki reading might make the movie easier to follow. The film isnt linear and characters come and go.

How many people want to hang out with co-workers outside work? Also, Downey Jr. and Blunt seem quite loud and in your face people whereas Murphy is low key and probably just wanted to chill alone or catch up with family when he wasn't filming.

'Cast dinners'? Ew. That's where they all continually hug and air-kiss each other (doubt if anyone ate food)? You know how fawning and ass-kissy actors can be.

Cillian very clearly has Aspergers, which would be apparent to the actors who were working with him who would give him his space. Especially given that they were working on a Christopher Nolan movie, who also clearly has Aspergers, about J. Robert Oppenheimer, who probably had Aspergers too. Additionally, because Nolan collects Aspie actors like Pokémon, the behavior wouldn’t even seem that unusual on set (in case you were wondering why Rami Malek and Josh Hartnett showed up in this.)

Christopher Nolan’s next movie will be a thriller in which Cillian, Jamie Dornan, Robert Pattinson and Henry Cavill team up to destroy an evil microfiber cloth manufacturer.

Note the nearly identical posture and speech patterns.

I've never heard RDJ speak ill of anyone.

If you saw that dirty look he shot me after our short conversation, you'd know that he absolutely is a MAJOR asshole!

The Peaky Blinders cast agrees.

The dude is weird. And he's unapologetic about it. He's confident in himself and his idiosyncratic nature.

I like that in a man.

I've heard this before; actors playing a very intense/dark role who can't shake it off after hours (even if they aren't method/Jeremy Strong-types) don't yuck it up with other actors after hours. I don't think it makes Murphy unique. I remember reading an article with Brendan Gleeson & Colin Farrell talking about how they agreed to remain friendly during shooting even though their characters were at odds. So I'm guessing it's harder to work to revert back to your normal self rather than just stay in some dark/grouchy/unapproachable character.

Cillian has always been very introverted and a genuine “I’m in it for the work” type of actor. Extremely rare these days. I can understand why he didn’t want to be buddy-buddy with the likes of Damon and RDJ.

Isn't there an expectation that whoever is first on the call sheet - and you'd assume that would be Murphy in both this case and Peaky Blinders - acts as a sort of company leader? So locking himself away is actually him shirking some of the expected duties he's meant to take on.

Despite r20's suggestion, it sounds like not hanging out was a mutual understanding.
