The Sally Field Programme Christmas Special? Yes, please!
Dave Annable: I'd like a Brothers & Sisters reunion
by Anonymous | reply 70 | January 27, 2024 3:21 PM |
I always heard this the best drama on network tv or great for a network show back when all the really brilliant dramas started being exclusively on cable. Might check it out OP.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 23, 2023 10:23 PM |
His new series premiered last night, correct? He needs a big hit I imagine. He was my replacement for Andrew Shue - guy next door adorable.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 23, 2023 10:30 PM |
I remember watching the first one or two seasons, which were good. If I recall, one of the main plots in the first season was the discovery of the illegitimate daughter of the recently deceased patriarch, but when it turned out that one of the brothers had great chemistry with her, they retconned it so she wasn't a daughter after all and the two could fuck without guilt.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 23, 2023 10:31 PM |
They better write my character’s script to match my importance.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 23, 2023 10:33 PM |
He had an NBC pilot for fall. Who knows what will happen? I like him. I'm even going to watch the show r2 told us about, not my usual sort of fare.

[quote]My Prophecy: I am going to be on television or the big screen with Jenny M. Oh well, maybe her daughter or something.
Who was Jenny M?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 23, 2023 10:46 PM |
Jenny McCarthy, duh
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 23, 2023 10:54 PM |
When "Art" inherited Dave's speedos and lollipops, did Art sniff the speedos while sucking on the pops?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 23, 2023 10:55 PM |
"Duh"? Like I was keeping up on her?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 23, 2023 10:56 PM |
Millionaire California Beauties with no real problems in their lives, scraping the bottom of the Crate & Barrel to find SOMETHING to fight about each week.
Sally Field is perfect for a soap opera mother. She always looks and sounds like she's just spent the day crying, even when she hasn't.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 23, 2023 10:57 PM |
“Dave Annabel?”
FAG.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 23, 2023 10:59 PM |
I loved Brothers & Sisters — and it was a mere soap with lots of over the top nonsense… and some turns that were a bit out of left field.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 23, 2023 11:00 PM |
Kevin's rescuing homeless/jobless Scotty was sweet, but no way in hell would Richard Chamberlain go near Ron Rifkin.
Sally (Nora) always seemed to be in the kitchen, making a salad.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 23, 2023 11:02 PM |
R14 Kevin was always rescuing Scotty. The little mince was always needing legal help because his latest two-bit boss fired him for being too queeny.
And of course, when he got sick of being sexually harassed as a cater-waiter (because that happens all the time, right?), he falls back on that age-old "job" for TV drama housewives: A catering business.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 23, 2023 11:05 PM |
I loved the show. It was so wholesome. Would love a reunion.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 23, 2023 11:24 PM |
Sally had a breakdown in every episode between during the last 15 minutes of the show, it was in her contract
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 23, 2023 11:32 PM |
Then she went back to her trailer to get railed by Annable.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 23, 2023 11:44 PM |
R7 Jenny from billing.
She's part of the high school bookstore team.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 24, 2023 12:26 AM |
How much older were Kitty and Sarah compared with Justin?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 24, 2023 12:40 AM |
R20 When they were doing the casting for the planned flashback episode, it was reported that roles for the 1973 scenes were to include William Walker at 33, Nora Walker at 28 and Holly Harper at 21. The 1986 scenes included Sarah Walker at 20, Kitty Walker at 18, Tommy Walker at 16, Kevin Walker at 14 and a 6-yr old Justin. (They only went forward with the 1986 scenes.)
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 24, 2023 1:44 AM |
Can't blame Sally - I'd bounce on Annable's stiff slab too.
He doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed but he sure was hot, especially in the beginning. In some of his early scenes he's just a walking erection/wall of testosterone.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 24, 2023 2:00 AM |
He was the first man in his family to attempt college. He dropped out before his last semester. Scandalizing his family. After Brothers & Sisters success he went back and finished, to please his mom. He's sweet.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 24, 2023 2:23 AM |
Sally Fields has found a place in DL's heart.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 24, 2023 2:27 AM |
R21 - “The 1986 scenes included Sarah Walker at 20, Kitty Walker at 18, Tommy Walker at 16, Kevin Walker at 14 and a 6-yr old Justin. (They only went forward with the 1986 scenes.)“
Sometimes it seemed that they forgot there was a big age gap between Tommy (and the others) and Justin.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 24, 2023 3:57 AM |
R25 How is there an age gap with Tommy? Nora popped out four children between 1967 and 1971. The only gap was with Justin.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 24, 2023 5:06 AM |
R26- I’m sorry, I had meant Kevin and Justin.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 24, 2023 6:33 AM |
Balty Getty was the miscast one in that group.
But I still would have - "Tommy" was sorta hot in a messy way in the beginning.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 24, 2023 2:01 PM |
The writing was awful. But they were constantly drinking wine.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 24, 2023 4:05 PM |
[quote]But they were constantly drinking wine at 10:47.
Fixed.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 24, 2023 4:06 PM |
one of my favorite shows ever.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 24, 2023 4:07 PM |
C'mon, Nora! Slap her! Take a whack at Holly! We'll print up t-shirts! "I slapped Holly Harper!"
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 24, 2023 4:10 PM |
Bring it on!
What r13 said.
And the DL threads were so much fun.
I disliked every character in B and S but that was part of its allure.
But, then after the 2nd season the writing lost its zip.
The only likable character in the show was Luke McFarlane’s as the boyfriend of the Matthew Rhys character.
But

[quote]But, then after the 2nd season the writing lost its zip.
Natch. That's when we took over. Robbie who?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 24, 2023 4:23 PM |
I would suck every cock in OP without exemption!
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 24, 2023 4:38 PM |
R36 Even Rachel Griffiths'?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 24, 2023 5:53 PM |
I preferred Kevin with Jason McCallister (Eric Winter).
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 24, 2023 8:34 PM |
Archive of the original AfterElton article regarding the backstage shakeup that occurred as the show's second season got underway. (A WGA strike also shortened that season.)
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 25, 2023 2:06 AM |
Yes, second season suffered from show runner change as well as the 2007-2008 writers strike.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 25, 2023 2:55 AM |
The family's stupid enormous car crash was the biggest soap opera peril since the Carringtons got caught up in that terrorist shooting at a European wedding.
Who will live? Who will die? Who will care in September?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | July 25, 2023 7:20 PM |
If they had a reunion show, it would probably be everyone getting back together because someone HAS DIED.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 25, 2023 7:26 PM |
Kitty, r42, starved herself to death.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 25, 2023 7:28 PM |
If one of the girls died, they'd have to rename the show "Brothers & Sister."
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 25, 2023 8:05 PM |
Saul would be a good choice.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 25, 2023 10:59 PM |
Brothers and Sisters, I remember it use to come on after Desperate Housewives. Good times. After all these years all I remember is the actor that played the lead guy in The Americans saying, I wouldn't touch your liver with a ten foot pole lol.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 25, 2023 11:10 PM |
It’s disturbing hearing Matthew Rhys talk in his real accent.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 25, 2023 11:14 PM |
It was disturbing to see Matthew Rhys as Darcy in that abdominal Murder At Pemberly. The Elizabeth was even worse, ghastly.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 25, 2023 11:57 PM |
Never heard of him
by Anonymous | reply 49 | July 25, 2023 11:59 PM |
In the unaired pilot, gay son Kevin was gay son Bryan and being played by Jonathan LaPaglia and his BDF.
Mom was Betty Buckley.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 26, 2023 12:00 AM |
I would love to see the Betty Buckley pilot someday. I thought they included it on the season 1 DVD set but unless it was an Easter egg I couldn’t find it. You see a bit of her in this promo from the summer before it premiered. I imagine the show would have developed quite differently had she continued in the role
by Anonymous | reply 51 | July 26, 2023 1:10 AM |
Here's a couple more clips from the pilot that feature LaPaglia as "Bryan" with his son, "Daniel," who's played by future DL fave Tyler Posey. .. Posey would later be cast as Sarah's stepson, "Gabe Whedon."
by Anonymous | reply 52 | July 26, 2023 6:00 AM |
Matthew Rhys has found is level in Perry Mason. Remind me why we are supposed to hate him?
by Anonymous | reply 53 | July 26, 2023 6:28 AM |
I had no idea he was in the new Paramount+ show, Operation:Lioness. He’s really hot in it. I like him better now in Silver Daddy mode.
The show itself…despite the awful title, I am kind of into it so far. Zoe Saldana and the girl playing the new recruit are both good. Nicole Kidman is in this, for some reason, looking and acting really bizarre.
I’d love a Brothers & Sisters reunion movie.

Bump!
I just finished watching every season of The Sally Field Programme. I remember when you guys had a ton of threads about it, but I never read them, because I thought the show looked stupid. But I've been on a binge of watching TV shows that were extremely popular back in the day that I've never seen before, and I just finished this one.
Can any of you folks point me in the direction of the old threads? I googled, but the earliest one was in 2018 -- and you know I am DYING to get the DLs take on this show at the time it was on.
Thanks!!!

[quote]I remember when you guys
You're one of us. One of us. One of us.
What is this "you guys" crap.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | October 13, 2023 8:28 PM |
Thanks, R56 -- but I'd still like to find those old threads. Anybody know where I can find them?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 13, 2023 8:31 PM |
Didn't everything pre-2015 get deleted?
by Anonymous | reply 58 | October 13, 2023 9:28 PM |
Oh, no!! The entire time I was watching this over-the-top all-too-predictable so-farcical-it-made-me-wince soap opera I couldn't wait to see what the old-timer DLers had to say about it!
Damn, damn, damn!!
Well, it's my own fault, I guess. I should have watched it when it was first on.

[quote]Dave Annable: I'd like a Brothers & Sisters reunion
And I'd like a pony.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 13, 2023 9:37 PM |
r59, it was Defacto's fault. He wouldn't stop being a thread terrorist.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 13, 2023 9:40 PM |
I remember someone who was an ABC insider (or claimed to be) posted here with a lot of piping hot (at the time) tea.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | January 26, 2024 6:11 PM |
Damn, do I need to go back and do a rewatch? Annable could absolutely get it and do whatever he wanted with it.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 26, 2024 8:52 PM |
I wanted all the Walker brothers to pass me around. But yes, Annable could - and still can - get it
by Anonymous | reply 64 | January 26, 2024 8:53 PM |
He had the Thing that is absolute kryptonite to me.....a very masculine dudebro vibe but also with that boyish vulnerability underneath.
That combo gets my legs in the air quicker than a strong wind!
by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 26, 2024 8:54 PM |
Plus that chest hair. Rawr.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | January 26, 2024 8:56 PM |
He has a nice furry chest naturally, though he had to shave it, apparently (per a few of these photos)
by Anonymous | reply 67 | January 27, 2024 1:53 PM |
The possible revival of The Sally Field Program fills me with the same feelings I get at Balmoral.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | January 27, 2024 2:51 PM |
OK, there I said it: I prefer Buckley. La Field plays like an aging midget.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | January 27, 2024 2:52 PM |
You had me at Dave Annable.
