Was Anthony Perkins the love of Tab Hunter's Life?

Perkins allegedly pulled a Gwyneth Paltrow on Tab by taking the role in FEAR STRIKES OUT. Tab very much wanted to play the role and Anthony knew that but he was an actor before he was a boyfriend.

No, he found a partner he was with for something like 35 years. He got over it. Perkins was keener on Tab, than Tab was on Perkins.

It was bound to end in tears regardless, this was the 1950s.

Tab Hunter did have a type, and Perkins was it. Tab’s first serious boyfriend was a professional ice skater, lanky, shorter than Tab and with dark hair and eyes. Perkins fit Tab’s physical ideal perfectly. And his final long relationship was with a young producer who looked like both of Hunter’s two previous important relationships — slight, dark, and whip smart.

I wish there were a video of one of their sexual encounters.

It just occurred to me how much the concept of "love of his life" is an antiquated concept and just tabloid level writing and celebrity worship.

Can you imagine saying to your aunt or uncle, "that person you dated for a year back in 1961 in your early 20s', was that the love of your life?" When you know the person went on to have long, committed relationships and children in relationships that lasted decades.

Not sure that I agree with that. I think people can fall in love many. many times and fulfilling relationships, but I also think there is that one special love that just sticks with you, even if it doesn't last.

I am sure Tab Hunter loved Anthony Perkins, but Anthony Perkins could not give Tab Hunter the life that Tab Hunter lived as a gay man. Allan Glaser did.

Some years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Tab in Provincetown. He was incredibly nice and friendly.
