Bathing 🧼 habits: is washing with a washcloth or pouf necessary in the shower?

If I use bar soap I don’t really need a washcloth but if I use shower gel I use a pouf. What says DL?

by Anonymousreply 55August 2, 2023 2:43 AM

OP applies her Tussy with a pouf.

by Anonymousreply 1July 21, 2023 5:14 PM

What's Tussy, R1?

by Anonymousreply 2July 21, 2023 5:20 PM

How can you wash your face without a washcloth?

by Anonymousreply 3July 21, 2023 5:20 PM

R3 with a foaming facial cleanser, with your hands, rinse with the water?

by Anonymousreply 4July 21, 2023 5:22 PM

I just use the bar of soap against my skin, and then I scrub with my hands, r3

by Anonymousreply 5July 21, 2023 5:22 PM

OP IS a pouf.

by Anonymousreply 6July 21, 2023 5:26 PM

I am team washcloth. I think it does a better job. It also exfoliates.

by Anonymousreply 7July 21, 2023 5:26 PM

I just assume the towel exfoliates when I'm drying off

by Anonymousreply 8July 21, 2023 5:36 PM

You could use some extra sloughing, r8/OP.

by Anonymousreply 9July 21, 2023 5:37 PM

I use a nylon (Japanese) wash cloth for my body.

For my face, I just use my hands.

by Anonymousreply 10July 21, 2023 5:38 PM

[quote] I just assume the towel exfoliates when I'm drying off

I'd rather exfoliate in the shower than onto my towel.

by Anonymousreply 11July 21, 2023 5:38 PM

No washcloth? Lume was invented for people like OP.

by Anonymousreply 12July 21, 2023 5:39 PM

You've got to have a washcloth to exfoliate your face IMO.

I don't like those "poufs" because I feel like they never fully dry inside and then you have to worry about mildew.

by Anonymousreply 13July 21, 2023 5:39 PM

They need to come up with a Mildon't.

by Anonymousreply 14July 21, 2023 5:43 PM

Poofs develop bacteria, I prefer the large scrubber, for body and face.

Mesh cloth for body and separate cloth for bum.

by Anonymousreply 16July 21, 2023 7:03 PM

You need a washcloth to clean your hole.

by Anonymousreply 17July 21, 2023 7:21 PM

I recently bought a silicone body scrubber to replace my pouff and it’s been life changing. Can highly recommend.

Bacteria under the microscope have little appendages (kind of like an octopus) that "cling" to your skin cells. You have to SCRAPE the bacteria off your skin to really get rid of them. The bacteria "hold" onto you till you forcefully remove them. Simply rubbing a soap bar over the skin will not even begin to scrape them off. It is the bacteria on your skin (not your actual skin) that cause BO.

by Anonymousreply 19July 21, 2023 7:37 PM

R19, the surfactants in soap wash bacteria away with the water.

I warsh musef wit' a rag onna stick.

by Anonymousreply 21July 21, 2023 8:40 PM

R2 Tussy is something you desperately need.

by Anonymousreply 22July 21, 2023 8:41 PM

Like R10, I use a salux (Japanese washcloth) with shower gel.

Regardless of whether you use bar soap or shower gel, if you are just using your hands to rub the soap around, you aren't really getting clean and exfoliated.

by Anonymousreply 23July 21, 2023 8:47 PM

Just bought one to try, r23.

by Anonymousreply 24July 21, 2023 9:22 PM

[quote]I recently bought a silicone body scrubber to replace my pouff and it’s been life changing.

Tell us more, life-changing in what way?

by Anonymousreply 25July 21, 2023 9:27 PM

R15, I ordered one of those BIOE scrubber things to try and a toothbrush. Thanks!

by Anonymousreply 26July 21, 2023 9:46 PM

I shower almost everyday, so I don't don't see the need to use a washcloth each time. But once a week I will shower with a washcloth and/or a body scrubber glove and of course a back scrubber.

by Anonymousreply 27July 21, 2023 9:55 PM

Indeed, thanks to the silicone scrubber people!

by Anonymousreply 28July 21, 2023 9:58 PM

r20 "Together, these mechanisms dilute the concentration of microorganisms such as bacteria on the soap, says Tierno." The article concerns removing bacteria from the BAR OF SOAP, not necessarily your body. Read again carefully (including the title of the article).

Nice OP, I have had the toothbrush for a few years, I love this company bc they're helpful in being less wasteful and the scrubbers are great (there's now obviously more than that manufacturer, but at 3xs the cost, and I like the colors offered). They make for great gifts too, and as you could see, very economical. Not sure your life will be changed, but atleast your bathing routine will be improved.

by Anonymousreply 30July 21, 2023 10:31 PM

Do you directly wash your feet in the shower?

I don’t. I just piss on them, and then let my body wash drip down to finishes the job. No athlete’s foot for me.

by Anonymousreply 31July 21, 2023 10:45 PM

People who brush their teeth are on the same level of horrifying as those who pee in the shower.

It's really not good to neglect the feet. Shower mats for scrubbing the feet are a way to go if mobility or motivation is an issue. I prefer a proper foot bath, with Epsom salt. Our feet are helpful to the lymph systems function and helps the body release toxins. Remember that the next time you're pissing on them.

by Anonymousreply 32July 21, 2023 10:52 PM

^ brush their teeth in the shower!

by Anonymousreply 33July 21, 2023 10:52 PM

Why is it bad to brush your teeth in the shower?

by Anonymousreply 34July 21, 2023 11:00 PM

I don’t neglect my feet. I give them my full attention as I piss in the shower.

by Anonymousreply 35July 21, 2023 11:26 PM

My sister turned me on to those salux Japanese wash cloths a few years ago and I’ve never looked back. The material seems basically like a mesh poof just unbunched so it dries completely. Easy to throw in the wash as well

by Anonymousreply 36July 21, 2023 11:59 PM

Use a wash cloth and do not soap your body with bar because of you know.....germs. soap the washcloth.

by Anonymousreply 37July 22, 2023 12:38 AM

Lume is meant to scare people. Ignore it.

White people are so nasty.

Of course you need a goddamn washcloth. Are you crazy? You tucking stink.

by Anonymousreply 40July 22, 2023 10:04 AM

Using a washcloth is not necessary but doesn't hurt so long as you don't reuse them. You especially shouldn't use one that's been sitting in your shower growing bacteria. I started using a loofah several years ago, and despite my attempts at letting it fully dry out after each shower, within a week of starting using it, I developed a carbuncle on my leg that was to this day one of the most painful, horrendous things I've ever experienced. I have no doubt that I got it from using a loofah and inadvertently scrubbing bacteria into my skin. Never again.

The reality is that soap and water kills bacteria and gets rid of dirt and oil on the skin surface, which is really all you need. If you take baths, the water penetrating the skin does a bit of light exfoliation, but it is a myth that you need to be exfoliating your body everyday—exfoliation happens naturally and, unless you have a skin condition that demands it, it isn't necessary to sandpaper your skin everyday in the shower.

by Anonymousreply 41July 22, 2023 10:35 AM

How do you remove the nasty, caked on deodorant under your armpits? How do you clean your dirty ass crack? Of course you need a fucking washcloth.

by Anonymousreply 42July 22, 2023 1:02 PM

I scrub my entire body with a bar of soap and wash it off. I use an exfoliating face wash for my face and neck. And I wash and condition my hair.

I shower every day.

If you prefer a wash cloth, by all means - but seems unnecessary if you really scrub yourself down with soap on a daily basis.

by Anonymousreply 43July 22, 2023 1:22 PM

R42 it’s called hot water.

by Anonymousreply 44July 22, 2023 1:33 PM

[quite] You need a washcloth to clean your hole.

And YOU need some Old Dutch Cleanser and a Brillo pad to clean YOUR hole.

by Anonymousreply 45July 22, 2023 1:37 PM

YOU need a Root-Rooter through your ears! ^^

by Anonymousreply 46July 22, 2023 1:48 PM

I use a cabana boy to do the hard-to-reach spots.

by Anonymousreply 47July 22, 2023 1:54 PM

After bathing using a washcloth, rinse it out, squeeze out excess water and let it air dry before putting it in your laundry basket. They get stinky and moldy if you don’t.

by Anonymousreply 48August 1, 2023 10:39 PM

R15 my BIOE stuff arrived and I like it so far. The body scrubber thing takes some getting used to, I think I'm using more body wash. The toothbrush is fantastic, and I highly recommend.

by Anonymousreply 49August 1, 2023 10:45 PM

Tell us you're white without telling us you're white.

by Anonymousreply 50August 1, 2023 10:50 PM

How do you smelly fucks truly exfoliate without a washcloth? And do you stick your soapy handy up your ass?

by Anonymousreply 51August 1, 2023 10:51 PM

Bussy needs a washcloth

by Anonymousreply 52August 1, 2023 10:52 PM

I use shower gel and a washcloth. I really don't understand how you get completely clean without one.

by Anonymousreply 53August 1, 2023 10:54 PM

Team washcloth here as well. I know that it is not strictly necessary (there are lots of parts of my back that I can't reach, where only soap suds rolling down need to do the cleaning, and my back doesn't stink or exhibit signs of lack of cleanliness), but psychologically, I need to feel that the dirt and dead skin cells are being scrubbed away by something physical - especially all the areas that you would pay special attention to if you had to do a sink bath when you couldn't have a proper shower. Of course, new washcloth every day. I have a large stack of them.

by Anonymousreply 54August 2, 2023 2:16 AM

R49/OP, nice! and if you keep using the toothbrush handle make sure you order brush head replacements well before the holidays, they sell out of everything. But they're good products for the price.
