Anywhere on the web to watch The Golden Girls free?
So please don't post that tiresome rant about us only knowing the world through watching TGG in a basement.
No, I'm not being cheap, my old box sets are at my parents home (I bought them for my mum, but also for me!)
I am having a duvet day and wanted to catch maybe season 4 or 5. Seems the only places are Amazon (pay per episode) or Disney+ subscription. The girls wouldn't want me to repay to see them, they're dead!
I'm in the UK btw. Any advice appreciated

Pirate Bay is still a thing? Huh. Interesting.

It’s not free but it’s on Disney if you’re desperate

I pay for Hulu, but that's because unlike OP,
I'M NOT A CHEAP CUNT!

Yes, Pirate Bay is still a thing. You can select what episodes you want to download. I've linked to a link to download every season. But you may have to wait (depends how many seeds there are).

Dunno what's wrong with it, R12 -- it still works for me, and I copied and pasted it into another browser to check it before I posted. I do use an ad blocker, so maybe that makes it work better for me.

Yo R13 what part of "I'm in the UK" aren't you getting? Hulu only allows Americans, the fuckers

You've come to the right place, OP.

Maybe each of us can take turns describing each episode, in detail, with dialogue and scene directions, until OP nods off. I’ll go first:
A handsome older women returns home and greets her gay housekeeper/cook, in the kitchen. She begins to opine on the challenges of substitute teaching in the modern era…
Ok! Who’s next?

R17 I know. I'm thinking of getting a VPN and then trying Hulu's 30 day trial, what do people think?
Hulu won't let me sign up as I'm in the UK but it seems they have all the episodes. I really don't want to sign up to Disney+ as I only want to stream TGG this weekend as a binge

R18 lol piss off! I've seen that one a dozen times.
Not to make this a stealth Golden Girls thread but why didn't they reshoot that hash of a pilot when it was clear the series was a hit? Then replaced that mess in syndication

you didn't ask but "Leave it to Beaver' is also free on hulu.tv (A nice 'feel good' show for duvet days). cheers!

R21 thank you, I've heard of it but not watched it. I wonder why Hulu doesn't let anyone outside the US sign up.

Get a VPN and torrent them. It's the easiest.

I recommend Private Internet Access. I've used it for a decade. If you need help learning to torrent, let us know.

R24 what's you best tip to torrent? Is a VPN a good idea? Thanks

Stremio....a streaming platform.......you download it but it's safe, if a bit glitchy sometimes. You get a shit ton of shows too, new and old.

I use qbitorrent, and I recommend installing it as a portable app. I get torrents from the piratebay and 1337x.to. Microsoft will tell you that you've got a virus, but you don't. I haven't gotten a virus from torrenting in 10+ years.
Just make sure that when your file quits downloading, you close out the torrent client. You probably don't want to seed, because if you turn off your VPN, or if it turns itself off for some reason, your IP address will be exposed. That's happened to me a few times, and only once have I gotten a nasty letter from my internet provider.

So I got a vpn provider but Hulu won't let me register because my paypal and credit card are in the UK :(

OP is pretty useless. Stick to your VHS tapes then because people have given you many options to watch for free that work but you can't figure them out.

R30 that's not very helpful. I appreciate everyone's advice and I'm downloading them as torrents using a VPN. Just really slow
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 22, 2023 12:09 AM

You could probably find some DLers who'd volunteer to re-enact every single episode for you in your living room.

OP is simply old, and can’t manage modern technology.
It was so much easier when the TV Guide would tell him what to watch on all three channels.

OP, there are several Golden Girls torrents here with lots of seeds. It might be faster to torrent one of these. Also, you can select which episodes to download first once you've got a torrent going. What client are you using? I can try to explain how to pick and choose if you tell us.

R33 I'll grant you I'm not tech savvy but embarrassingly I'm in my 30s!
R34 I downloaded express VPN then JS torrent and am downloading (slowly) the seasons I don't have access to. S5 is downloading somewhat faster as it appears to have more seeds.
Is there any way I can safely keep the eps even if I get rid of the VPN?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 22, 2023 10:09 AM
|
Yes, after you download them, you can delete the VPN. I would not save them to the cloud or in an account controlled by your employer. You can leave them on your hard drive or put them on a thumb drive.
Before you delete the VPN, get any other shows or movies you might want to watch!

Thanks R36
I read something about hosting for others to seed the torrent from me, is that risky? I read it's good etiquette but is it safer to opt out, and if so, how?

While you are torrenting the file, you are seeding unless you change the settings in your torrent client. On occasion, my VPN has turned itself off, and if I'm still seeding, my IP address is exposed. You don't want that to happen. I turned off seeding just to be safe. Honestly, it's probably not worth it to you to figure out how to turn it off since this is a one-time deal for you. Also, I doubt any media company is monitoring for illicit sharing of the Golden Girls. When I did get a letter many years ago, it was because my VPN had turned off when I was torrenting a movie still in the theaters.
When you've gotten your files, and exit the client, you'll stop seeding.

Thanks R38
My files have downloaded via JStorrent, once I have all I want do I still have to keep that app in order to play episodes? At the minute I can watch the EP by clicking "stream" on the app but ideally I'd like to have access to the files on my laptop but get rid of my nefarious activity!

OP? Here's a streaming site I use often. Maybe you can get it in the UK -- it's worth a try!
BTW, I have Nord VPN. I paid (I think) $75 for two years, but I think it's worth it.
Cheers!

No, you should be able to watch them via whatever program on your computer you usually use to watch media files. I've never used the "stream" option in the app itself. I agree it's best to get rid of the client once you're done with it.
To open the media files, go to wherever you downloaded them-- probably your download folder, and click on one of them. It will either open automatically or ask you what program you want to use to open it.

Oh gosh, I haven't seen this episode in years, Dorothy pretend crying on the bed is painfully bad. Rose says she's never been to New York before yet in that episode where she moves in with the Stewardess she says she honeymooned there!
