He did guest spots and teen movies in the 80s.
Do any gays of a certain age remember Lee Montgomery?
by Anonymous | reply 88 | July 22, 2023 3:55 AM |
He looks very familiar. I would have definitely offered him a blowie.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 16, 2023 6:21 PM |
He's very...interesting.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 16, 2023 6:29 PM |
He's now sadly too old for Miss Singer. She'd have to go back in a time machine.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 16, 2023 6:30 PM |
I remember him as a child star. He was in "Ben" and "Burnt Offerings" with Karen Black and Bette Davis, I think.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 16, 2023 6:32 PM |
Was he the love interest in Girls Just Wanna Have Fun?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 16, 2023 6:32 PM |
R5 Yes. That was his first "adult" role. And then his acting career kind of evaporated after that.
I blame it on Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 16, 2023 6:34 PM |
Do I? Girls Just Want To Have Fun was one of my staple films when I was growing up, mostly because of Lee and his hot, hirsute body (yes, he was the love interest). He was a child actor and has been in many films, including the '70s horror classics BEN and BURNT OFFERINGS. He was even hotter in the post-GJWTHF Canadian sex thriller INTO THE FIRE.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 16, 2023 6:35 PM |
He used to annoy me as a child star. He had that All American suburban child look. Then he grew into a rather attractive youngster.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 16, 2023 6:35 PM |
Not really.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 16, 2023 6:35 PM |
He's no Eric Shea, that's for sure.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 16, 2023 6:36 PM |

For a Canadian, that is.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 16, 2023 6:36 PM |
Aging is a cunt.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 16, 2023 6:39 PM |
R10, while he's passably, middle-aged cute in a bald, fey way now, he definitely had quite the rack in his day. Maybe we need to see him naked today.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 16, 2023 6:40 PM |
He's the younger brother of 1970s Movie of the Week staple Belinda Montgomery.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 16, 2023 6:41 PM |
I wonder if he stuck it in SJP.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 16, 2023 6:42 PM |
I don’t remember him, but I do remember his sister Belinda. She was a regular guest star in tv shows and stared in several made-for-tv movies back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 16, 2023 6:43 PM |
R17 His IMDB profile doesn't list a wife or kids, so I'm guessing "no."
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 16, 2023 6:43 PM |
He was also in the Dan Curtis trilogy film Dead of Night, written by Richard Matheson. (It was their follow-up to Trilogy of Terror.)
The segment Montgomery was in was "Bobby," which co-starred Joan Hackett as a mother grieving over her drowned son.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 16, 2023 6:45 PM |
The Savage is Loose was a big misfire vanity project for then A-lister George C. Scott.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 16, 2023 6:47 PM |
I remember seeing an interview with him when he was an adult, talking about making "Burnt Offerings." He said in the pool scene where Oliver Reed goes nuts and tries to drown him, Oliver Reed really was holding him down in the water. Lee said he started to panic and flail around under the water, and his reactions you see in the film were real.
He said when the director yelled cut, Bette Davis really chewed Oliver Reed out for doing that to him.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 16, 2023 6:47 PM |
Lee Montgomery was no Belinda Montgomery and Belinda Montgomery was no Lee Purcell.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 16, 2023 6:48 PM |
And Lee Purcell was no ME!
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 16, 2023 6:49 PM |
He was in the ‘80s horror/comedy classic The Midnight Hour, which had an all-star cast.

[quote] I wonder if he stuck it in SJP.
Not if he had any taste.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 16, 2023 6:52 PM |
He acted alongside Martin Milner twice, in a two-parter episode of Adam 12 and in the ‘70s tv movie Runaway!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 16, 2023 6:53 PM |
He was Little Stevie in an episode of "The Mary Tyler Moore Show"...
and Mary didn't care for him

Someone claimed he was dating Doug Barr(Fall Guy) in the 80's. Pretty sure he's Canadian/American, if that's a thing. Remember his other sister, Tannis?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 16, 2023 6:54 PM |
Yes, that is Mr. Lucie Arnaz, Lawrence Luckinbill, as Stevie's father in the MTMS episode.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 16, 2023 6:56 PM |
Into The Fire is low-budget, sleazy Canadian fun. He got to bone Olivia D’Abo and Susan Anspach in it, but I’d say they were the lucky ones.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 16, 2023 6:56 PM |
He married actress/screenwriter Carole Burkett in the mid 1980s.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 16, 2023 7:03 PM |
R22 Stupid bitch. I'd have helped Oliver Reed hold the thoughtless, spoiled child down.

I wonder how he got the lead in Girls Just Want to Have Fun. In addition to SJP, it had Helen Hunt, Jonathan Silverman and Shannen Doherty. His character was supposed to be the best male dancer and it was obvious he had two left feet.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 16, 2023 8:43 PM |
I wonder how many holes he had presented to him. He's so cute, in that 80s way.

Helen Hunt and especially SJP were really charming in Girls. In fact, the entire cast was good and it very much captured a moment in Southern California.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 16, 2023 9:51 PM |
SJP was charming, but Helen couldn't help giving off her usual frosty cunt vibe.

by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 16, 2023 10:05 PM |
R47, that's why this was interesting casting. Most would have put Helen into the lead as the daughter of an Army man and SJP as the madcap friend. I think they both hit well with Helen being happy as Ethel Mertz

He did a low budget WarGames-ish movie called Prime Risk that I've always liked. He runs around in snug jeans that show off his ass and crotch and even flashes a bit of butt getting out of bed at one point. It's pretty obscure but surprisingly available to buy on Amazon and AppleTV

R46, Girls Just Want to Have Fun was supposed to be set in Chicago, though clearly the only shots of Chicago were stock location footage.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 17, 2023 12:06 AM |
R57, regardless of where it was set, it was a total Southern California vibe.

by Anonymous | reply 59 | July 17, 2023 12:12 AM |
R22. I have a DVD copy of "Burnt Offerings." On the commentary track it was very obvious that Karen Black and Dan Curtis went out of their way to not mention Oliver Reed. They spoke glowing of everybody else, including Joan Hackett who was not even in the film. Oliver really was the asshole that I heard he was.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | July 17, 2023 12:53 AM |
Time can be a cruel beast, but he was beautiful once. Let's remember that. I do wonder what SJP would look like if she had aged naturally.

I just Googled Scott Jacoby, R66. You're joking, right?
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 17, 2023 2:08 PM |
R67, was Lee Montgomery on The Golden Girls even once, let along three times? Jacoby was the only actor portraying an offspring of one of the four leads to ever be asked back for a second appearance...and then a third!

by Anonymous | reply 77 | July 17, 2023 6:05 PM |
R77 In that same interview about Oliver Reed trying to drown him, I recall Lee saying that in the movie, he and Bette, who played his grandmother, were supposed to be very close, so before filming began, she spent the day with him in LA and took him to lunch and had ice cream with him so they could bond.
As horrific as she could be, it sounds like she was very kind to him on the set of this movie.

In 1973, I'm assuming most of us were in nursery school or kindergarten.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | July 17, 2023 6:17 PM |
R78 She obviously knew nothing about how to deal with children.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | July 17, 2023 6:22 PM |
By all accounts Bette was a decent human being with a strong moral compass. Unfortunately for her, as she aged and began to drink more and buy into her legend, her treatment of certain people was not always the best. With that said, she was fundamentally a down to earth yankee and prided herself on that (probably to a fault). Her issues with her fellow actors usually have to do with her objections to their unprofessional behavor. Miriam Hopkins and Faye Dunaway--her other two signifcant rivals outside of the famous one--were both notorious for their unprofessional, difficult behaviro when working. Her rivalry with Crawford went deeper and has been well examined. However her treatment of Joan was the exception for Bette not the rule. Many (most) of her costars have positive things to say about her.

He was hot as hell in the 1982 pilot for Hotel - where Bette Davis played the Owner, in what was a glorified cameo - his character led a group of boys to rape hooker Morgan Fairchild. Bette actually singled out how impressed she was with Morgan for that ep.

[quote]As horrific as she could be, it sounds like she was very kind to him on the set of this movie.
I remember reading/hearing somewhere she really looked out for him during the making of the movie. In addition to the pool incident, the filmmakers apparently weren't very interested in following rules for child actors and she had to step in and prevent them from overworking him or putting him in potentially dangerous situations.
