Why don’t the rich actors give part of their money to poorer actors for the SAG strike?
I see people screaming about how much money executives at the big companies are making. But some of the big actors make as much or more. Why don’t they start to spread some of the wealth around?
There’s more to camaraderie than having your driver take you to the picket line, pull up, get the sign out of the trunk of the car, escort you to the line, and wait for you with the engine running while you walk around for 30 performative minutes.

Fuck you for being so stupid, r3. ACTORS are pulling Iger money and not spreading it around.
This makes a fucking joke of “solidarity”.
You are irredeemably and utterly stupid, R3.

Why don't the rich studio heads who don't really do anything but executive produce give more money to all the little people?
They're not the creatives.

I’m all for that, r7. TAKE it from all the $ people. ALL of them.
And give it to the workers.

Wrong R6
I’m as liberal as they come and don’t give a fuck about either of those two.

Most actors come from trashy backgrounds and don't know about the joys of philanthropy. Show people, you know.

Big actors make big money because, traditionally, they put butts in seats. CEOs make big bucks because....reasons? Remember, the CEOs of Netflix and Disney are not creatives, not producers in the way movie producers were.

Police officers. In big cities some can make nearly $1 million a year while others make $60k.

100% agree, r13.
Now multiply $1 million by 10 (star salary) and cut that $60k in half (regular person) and … well you get it.

[quote]Why don’t the rich actors give part of their money to poorer actors
Well, inevitably they're going to. Only the very top tier - the 1% of actors - are going to be taking home huge checks. Salaries on the top end will go down to cover the writers and other actors.
Revenue is finite. The only way to pay some people more is to pay others less.
But, the bigger issues are the AI usage to replace writers and actors. Selling your image in perpetuity for the privilege of being cast in a bit part is absurd. All big name stars started in smaller roles. If they had sole their likenesses back then, why would anyone bother to pay them big bucks now that they've made a name for themselves. You should have to pay for each use of a likeness - whether its to create a younge Sean Young for Bladerunner, Luke for new Star Wars, or any other actor.
Even then, it's going to be difficult to police. DL's resident Midjourney pro has shown us that you can generate a likeness with sufficient differences for plausible deniability, but clearly draw from the original.

Does OP not know how unions work? She doesn't know how capitalism works, that's for sure.
Let's use small words for the billionaire bootlickers of this thread.
High-earning members of the SAG union pay *millions in dues. Low-paid actors get health insurance and 1000 other benefits and protections from the earnings of the Brad Pitts and the George Clooneys of the world (tho not from the James Woods any more).
So, yeah, OP. Go fuck yourself.

Fran Drescher is looking to win an Oscar. She’s a hated phony baloney who want to strike over union mandates and is a Trumper. She went on Fox News saying that she didn’t believe in government getting involved in health care or the government doing anything for people. She can go fuck herself.

R17, I understand capitalism as it’s practiced by the wealthy. See, eg, Pitt, Cruise, et al.
Take their money and give to the actors.
Take Iger’s money and give to all the Disney employees.
Reallocation is good. Seriously.

OP, here's the answer to your clever question:
For the same reason rich people don't give their money to homeless people.
Because they don't have to.

Exactly, r20.
That’s the rich. And they have the money the working class actors need.

r21/OP, you're saying this as if this is some sort of profound realization that has suddenly come to you. As if no one has ever thought of the re-distribution of wealth before.
Do you not understand how capitalism works?

R5 / R3 is why we can’t have nice things here. The rabid, mouth foaming Bernie’ites and their psychotic ranting make Datalounge nearly impossible to enjoy or have discussions anymore. Ironically, their heroes like Bernie, whom we have to thank for Donald Trump, Soros et al. Keep them all worked up while issuing commands from their lake home mansions in Vermont and villa compounds in the south of France. The irony is downright comedic.

OP doesn't think Union Dues are real but handing random actors cash is.
I assume she thinks that charity can solve homelessness but government built housing is bullshit.

SAG dues are cheap and don't apply after $1 million. These rich actors are raking it in at the expense of working class actors. So, yes, r26, I think union dues are real and ineffective. Take Iger's money? Yes. But take Brad Pitt's too.
And I do believe that government built housing is bullshit, but I grew up in a world where government built housing meant the poor in ghettos. Government-assisted financial support for housing, on the other hand, is a much better solution.

They are? So Brad Pitt gets $X million for getting a movie made and he's taking money away from...who? You?
Doesn't Brad's name on a movie make it so that working class actors (by the hundreds) can get work? Doesn't his union dues (and Clooney's and Damon's and Affleck's, etc etc) fund the union that runs their health insurance, retirement and workers protections?
It's amazing how people will run interference for billionaires.

Why doesn't everyone make the same money on a universal credit system with population control so we don't have to randomly shanked by the crazy homeless. Why doesn't big brother surveillance everyone and eliminate crime.
We can carefully select those being born and eliminate crazy gene people and destroy the bad DNA! No one will better than anyone! We will be the same! Everyone will look the same! No individuals! No jealousy!
