Terrifying!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 6, 2023 2:59 AM |
Yikes, plus if the ship is able to be recovered in pieces, I don’t think it wasn’t such a instant death. Poor souls.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 6, 2023 3:50 AM |
What happens to a body when exposed to that kind of pressure at those depths?
Are they squashed like an aluminum can under your foot? Or do the explode outwards?
I'm curious about the physics of it all.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 6, 2023 3:55 AM |
I'm not checking out this transcript until it's been authenticated.
Leave it to the fucking trolls to make up some bullshit.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 6, 2023 3:57 AM |
OP I called this last week. Titan and it's crew members were spinning and out of control and listening to this Junk Ship creak and sputter long before they died. The whole notion of them being unaware before the implosion was BS.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 6, 2023 3:58 AM |
R2 Nah, their delicate human skin and formation would not have been able to sustain the slightest tick once pressure reached a peak. Think of that scene in Bond when the American gangsta pops the other villain in the pressure chamber. Not exactly instant but very quick.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 6, 2023 4:03 AM |
I meant to type Mexican gangsta.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 6, 2023 4:05 AM |
I don't think they were spinning out of control R5, or they would have texted that information.
At first, they were descending too rapidly.
So they tried to ascend, but they couldn't make the sub go up.
It was basically stuck at a depth of 3000 meters, when they started hearing creaking and cracking noises coming from the back of the craft.
Then the texts stopped.
So yeah, they knew it was coming.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 6, 2023 4:05 AM |
R3 - at the moment of implosion, they would have been flash-fried at 10,000 degrees F and then squeezed into cooked gel in a nanosecond then squeezed out the seams of the imploding submersible.
It is physically impossible for their vision and brains to register or process what was happening in real time as they were already were hot goo. They might have been aware they were in trouble but none of them registered the implosion because it happens so quickly that it was physiologically impossible for the signals to reach their brains in time R6/R8.
This video explains the process in simple terms.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 6, 2023 4:12 AM |
I don't understand the "flash-fried at 10,000 degrees F" part.
I understand the squeezed into gel part, because that's common sense. They're squashed.
But where does the 10,000 degree heat come from, if the ocean depths are freezing cold?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 6, 2023 4:17 AM |
Why am I having to listen to this idiot read? Just post the fucking transcript. Jesus.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 6, 2023 4:18 AM |

When you compress things they heat up.

R11, it was already posted last week.

The biggest tragedy in all of this is that the one person who could have went to prison for his slobby submarine fascination managed to splatter himself into fish food.

Fake.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 6, 2023 4:34 AM |

Airtight logic, r18
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 6, 2023 4:54 AM |
It could be fake. But eventually we will have the transcript. And this tracks with James Cameron's certainty that they died at this time and at this depth.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 6, 2023 5:12 AM |
R12 of you find it boring in not sure what you're doing in this thread. What did you expect?

by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 6, 2023 5:33 AM |
I just thought about it. This shit is fake. There ain’t no mafuckin black box that would have sustain this catastrophe and it definitely would have never been discovered if the material exist. So any real audio would have been transmitted and listened to before the implosion before we even knew what truly happened. Unless this is from the Navy and was considered Top Secret from the sonar techs who deciphered it.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 6, 2023 5:34 AM |
I also imploded.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 6, 2023 5:35 AM |
R28 there's a real time record of comms from the mothership. They had their own text platform. They didn't need to resurrect the fragments to have this.

My dad worked for Canadian Fisheries and Oceans, and was on the crew who were were the first to explore the hot vents of the north Pacific coast. He got me to write on a styrofoam cup that he took on the ship and sent down to the deep ocean in a probe. I still have that cup; it’s about a centimetre-and-a-half tall, all the space inside compressed- this is what happened to the people on that submersible… when the end came, they were compressed/squashed before they knew what was happening.
I hate knowing they were in fear for all that time (except for stockton - he can get fucked), but when the final moment came, it was too quick for their brains to register what was happening to their bodies, and that’s the only good thing about this absolute clusterfuck.

Considering that the sub was communicating with the ship via group text, it was probably easier for someone to track down the actual conversation than to write a fictional version of it.

by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 6, 2023 11:20 AM |
They died in pants shitting terror knowing exactly what was going to happen to them R55. Then, they were flash fried and compressed to sludge roughly the size of a pea. Is that what you want to hear R55?
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 6, 2023 11:30 AM |
There are a number of facts that have been already established with near, or total certainty: they were going down too fast, they attempted at some point to go back up by dropping their ballast, they lost com with people at the surface around 1h45min in the dive, there was a real time hull monitoring system that al experts said would never allow them enough time to go back up before disaster, and finally that the vessel’s weakest points were where both materials meet, at the aft and the bow.
Considering all these facts, the transcript would seem very plausible because it fits perfectly into what we know happened. And there’s no added “drama” that would make it look suspicious. Just precise, factual statements that indicate a crisis situation being managed by professionals. I vote for “real”.

by Anonymous | reply 65 | July 6, 2023 1:38 PM |
R33 It’s a way of feeling better about themselves. The fascination when wealthy people don’t just die but die a terrible death. Many people pretend they are sad about this but they are actually feeling gleeful.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | July 6, 2023 1:47 PM |
[quote] I think everyday sadism is more common than we're led to believe.
Sadly true. The misfortune of others is served up as entertainment for us all to leer at.
These people apparently deserved to die because they were rich and we’re not. Imagine being the grieving mother or sister of a 19 year old who has just died horribly, and being surrounded by jokes and derision about it.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 6, 2023 1:53 PM |

Extremely glad I didn't have to smell that.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | July 6, 2023 2:02 PM |
I believe the actual implosion was very quick and that their physical deaths were instantaneous, but I don't think their final moments were carefree, blissful ignorance of what was about to happen. They knew. There were signs. They were calling to be brought back hours earlier than planned when they lost contact. They knew they were in danger and the captain probably knew they were completely fucked.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | July 6, 2023 2:37 PM |

As for them being so close to the wreckage? That was where their wreckage fell to.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | July 6, 2023 4:05 PM |
R71 You are an idiot.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | July 6, 2023 4:06 PM |
As it turns out, the text messaging was rudimentary, just a cryptic code of single letters… maybe they were sent morse code style, I don’t understand the technology. But the transcript is definitely fake. Here’s a photo of the actual codes from an Intelligencer article:
by Anonymous | reply 74 | July 6, 2023 4:07 PM |
[quote]Regular radio waves don’t travel through water, so the sub and control room communicate using very short, coded text messages sent by acoustic pulses through the water column.
So maybe James Cameron or a submarine nerd with strong math skills, knowledge of Titan’s build, ocean pressure vs. speed and velocity, etc. wrote it.

by Anonymous | reply 78 | July 6, 2023 4:54 PM |
[quote] Does anyone know what could have caused them to descend so fast?
I was thinking maybe a small leak in the part of the sub that is sealed off from the passenger compartment.
It made the craft heavier, which made it sink faster.
And it's also what made the sub unable to ascend. Because of the added water weight.
Possibly also what caused the crackling noises.

by Anonymous | reply 86 | July 6, 2023 8:10 PM |
R69 likely true. But I think most people default to "we'll get through this and be ok." I dont think they thought they were going to die.
That was why some of the 9/11 transcripts were so awful. They had to sit there knowing they weren't going to make it.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | July 6, 2023 8:19 PM |
They'd know they were sinking and out of control, and that at crush depth, they were going to die.
In 1988, when Pan Am 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, the bomb blew the nose away from the airplane, but the main fuselage and wings continued flying as one piece for a minute or so before plunging into a nosedive toward the ground that took a few minutes. The plane's avionics bay was destroyed in the initial blast, and the oxygen masks were never deployed for passengers to use. Those passengers not killed in the blast or knocked unconscious by the shockwave would've lost consciousness in seconds due to hypoxia at that altitude. But as the plane (now wide open at the front with no nose) descended to a breathable altitude, many may have regained some fuzzy consciousness and been able to see the ground they were about to impact. A few people might have been conscious enough to understand that the plane had been bombed, and they were plummeting to their death.
It was heavily discussed during the trials for the Libyan bombers, as part of the "pain and suffering" damages sought. Did people suffer in those several minutes before they hit the ground?
