R23/R31 Netflix just dropped the s2 teaser yesterday, but nobody on these threads gives a shit about the show at all. The entire cast is queer which is unique, so these threads have been following the cast personal lives. Joe Locke who plays Charlie Spring in the show was dating Sebastian Croft (aka Bash) who plays Ben Hope for two years. They broke up a few months ago and the breakup has been very messy. Lots of good gossip, hence all the threads.

Also Kit Connor, who plays Nick Nelson is hot and a lot of people hope Joe and Kit hook up now that Joe’s not stuck with Bash.

This is the extent of what we care about regarding the show.

I watched a bunch of TikTok’s to see Pride coverage and the comments sections are hilarious. Most of the puriteens are still completely morally offended at the idea of J&B ever dating, but they’re also very confused by the obvious change in there behavior. The “wait, we’re they actually dating” realization only after they broke up is making the comments quite comical.

The biggest tell to me that no one is going to be cutting off Bash completely on Joe’s side is Lucy liking Bash’s Pride post.

You know what is something I really like about Joe and Kit? They've both really sweet with the new cast members. That being said, I think Kit's naturally affectionate with those around him and I'm not surprised he was with Bash, but the thing that's notable is how much more he is with Joe.

The entire cast is affectionate with each other, and the more videos come out, the less it looks like Joe was off hiding in a corner. He is clearly having fun pretty much the entire parade route in every fan video. The clips from before the parade started are where Joe looked uncomfortable. If this was truly the first time Joe and Bash had seen each other post breakup, it makes sense Joe would be a bit stressed.

He moves around so much on the float that there is content on him with every cast member not just Joe (also cameras are always going to be looking for him). This is the downside and I think he'll be really aware of that and not want to be seen to be influencing the planned storylines. The entertainment industry is pretty harsh about things like this and actors who instigate changes to a producer's vision (whether they asked for it or not) in order to accommodate their personal life are often labelled as difficult. I'm not saying it's right or that will happen with Joe but I do think this is something he'll have been preparing himself for and that will make it easier for him to compartmentalize it.

It’s interesting to me that the assault scene is the only part of Solitaire ever discussed. Solitaire is a very crazy story. Tori is burned by a firework set off during a concert and has tho jump in a river to put out the fire. And then later Tori plays a part in Higgs burning down so all the Higgs students have to transfer to Truham. It’s possible for Alice to introduce the character of Michael without burning down Higgs. So it’s equally possible to introduce the character of Michael with Ben beating up Charlie or Nick beating up Ben.

I’m assuming Ben will start dating Imogen in s2. I saw it as a likely subplot all along and am more convinced now that Rhea seems to be team Bash. Nick and Ben can have some kind of argument without making it the entire rugby team holding down a closeted teenager and beating the shit out of him. Maybe that’s already in s2, or maybe it’s planned for s3.

I think Kit doesn’t hate bash, but he’s not an idiot. He and joe have weathered a lot of hate together and I’m sure he’s seen joe in some of his most down moments, like the looks based comments. As has been noted before as soon as that stuff started happening he got way more sincere in interviews with Joe. And they’ve both said each other is one of their biggest support systems and best friends.

I’m sure Kit started off sympathetic to both and neutral, if closer to joe anyway, but I think after seeing the social media activity and the way the parade went down he may keep the peace but he’s not thinking too highly of bash.
