Has anyone read one of her autobiographies? I'm curious if they're worth it.
I did read that her parents were spending about 20k a year for her skating costs. It brought Tanya Harding to mind, and how the ice skating world must be reserved for wealthy families.
Her mother suffered from depression, which affected Dorothy.
As a kid I found her to be obnoxiously squeaky clean, but looking at her now I see a young woman excited about her talents and hard work paying off. She was the epitome of fresh scrubbed American wholesomeness.
