R8, I don't think anyone's saying he's fat. I think that back in his heydays, Alam's success was a result of this unusual combination of boyish good looks, and stunningly ripped muscular physique. As he has aged, and as the OP's link shows, the boyish face is fast fading, and his body has thickened. Still muscular, but the sculptural definition is gone. His appeal is now gone I think.
