Shows like The Price is Right and that annoying one with Wayne Brady as host, "Let's Make a Deal" are HIGHLY ANNOYING!

Price is Right is just typical low-brow daytime game show content. Let's Make a Deal was around forever and I LOVE Wayne Brady, but that show is awful and literally makes me cringe with embarrassment for him, the contestants and everyone else. He's got this ugly ginge sidekick/announcer guy who seems nice enough, but he does these little singing/rapping things with Brady and it's just over the top cringey. I do not get the appeal.

Like most daytime television, shows like Price Is Right, etc. have moved away from pandering to stay-at-home moms and now target a younger, more urban and likely less educated audience. Daytime television's demographic is overwhelmingly comprised of Gen Z, black, Latino (and white) women, urban residents and many un or underemployed people. Lots of unemployed people, (by choice perhaps). The majority of daily daytime TV viewers have been reported as being comprised of those with little education beyond junior high or high school, or women over the age of 60. That's what all these shows, including "Judge" Judy, People's Court, and everything Steve Harvey is on, pander to and target. It's the same demographic, I believe, that watches reality television. Those who aren't the most productive or ambitious people around, who like eating and staying glued to a TV for cheap, mindless entertainment that they can understand and/or relate to.

Old school Price is Right with Bob Barker reminds me of cozy childhood sick days.

Even in the 90s, the show felt very 70s. I miss that. The new version with Drew Carey feels very sterile with the new sets and tiny COVID-sized audience.

R4 I do, I'm just working from home today and had the local morning news on in the background prior. Was caught up in what I was working on and then that shit came on. And when I was sick with COVID...passed out after the news and awoke to that stupid trash on and made me feel even more like death. I typically listen to music or something else on in the background if I'm working from home..or get it switched off before that crap comes on. Plus, not all people work Mon-Fri and or 9-5 hours. Some work alternate days and shifts you know!!!! Used to be on a night shift.

When I watch the Barker Price is Right on Pluto, it seems like the audience is less jaded and genuinely excited to be there. That lady really wants that Chevy Chevette. The few times I've watched the current version, it seems like everyone is putting on a show for the sake of putting on a show. Even the models are boring.

R24, the CBS Evening News teased that story at the start of its broadcast tonight. With the this part muted, I just noticed footage of Bob Barker. I came here first to see if Bob had died.

Hard to believe that was the same guy (Wayne Brady) who did a stint on The Bold and the Beautiful. Wow.

I thought game shows where loud and obnoxious back in the coked-out 70s, but Gene Rayburn, Richard Dawson and Chuck Barris are genteel and understated sophisticates in comparison to the loud, over-the-hill former stand up comics who host now. Also, the audience response audio and visuals of people gasping in amazement on panel shows like America’s Got Talent and The Masked Singer are laughably over-the-top.

But if the people that watch these shows are such losers, what sort of advertiser wants to pay to reach that demographic?

And of course the advertisements tell you the audience.
