Interesting to see this topic - over the weekend I visited two longtime friends, an eldergay couple in their mid-80s, who have been together nearly 60 years. They both have health issues and during COVID became pretty much housebound. I hadn't been to see them since last summer and as we were talking, one of them kept pausing in mid-sentence. He apologized, saying they now speak only infrequently with other people, and it takes him longer to process his thoughts into words.

This made me realize just how easily elders can become isolated and lonely, even here in NYC, where there are so many orgs and services for the aging and even specifically for elder gays. When a significant number of your friends have died off, loneliness can slowly envelop your life. It's a difficult cycle to break and we really need to look at those around us who may be in need of more human contact.

Loneliness is a major issue for the elderly especially as people’s families have become smaller and smaller than they were in the past. The shrinking of families has also increased homelessness which we all know is now an epidemic. The increase of autism spectrum disorders, which will skyrocket in the coming years due to so many births now being had by parents in their late thirties, forties and fifties, will exacerbate the situation.

Secondly, Chris Murphy is not an attractive man at all.
