Derek and Mark broke up because the gossip was rampant (ITHO) they freaked. They were a couple and living together. Mark decided to make it in showbiz he needed to be with a woman. Derek did not want to live a lie. Derek’s sister (do not know her name) was already gay (not yet stated although she has decided to announce she is bi). However, she did not disclose her sexuality during the time she was “dating” bearding with Ryan. Her and Ryan were NOT a couple and it was the perfect setup, because my sister said supposedly Ryan and Ryan became great friends; hence, Derek was always around and no questions would be asked of anyone because why the hell wouldn’t Derek support his sister. In reality Ryan and Derek WERE a couple. When Derek’s sister ended the relationship it was really Derek and Ryan parting ways. Wow, I am exhausted.

I do not know if any of this is accurate and I do not care to check my sister’s facts. I could be wrong. Although, she has always been right.

Another tidbit a hairstylist who also cut my sister’s hair “accidentally” let it slip that Matthew was a client and he IS gay. This gossip was shared before Matthew really made it big. Derek and Mark know each other from childhood. When Derek was the lead in the West End production of Footloose, I believe he stayed with the Ballas family. (Mark's half British from his Mother, who has the Carrie Ann Inaba role on the British version of Dancing With The Stars, Strictly Come Dancing.

Corky and Shirley met Derek and Julianne when they were kids while they were doing a workshop in Utah. They wanted Julianne to partner with their son Mark for ballroom competitions but because Derek was having an awful time being bullied in school(s) - I think he was moved a couple times - and his parents were in a messy divorce, they first took Derek to live with them in London at age 12 - Julianne came later at age 10.

Mark got another girlfriend who he was living with when DWTS called -- actually, they got Julianne on there first and then Derek and Mark joined up. Derek's girlfriend, India something, tried to follow him over and continue their "thing" but he wanted out. Mark started a fake romance with his first DWTS partner....

Oh well, I don't believe Mark is gay. I do think Derek is but heavily closeted (his father was chairman of the Utah Republican Party, Mormon of course.)
