Temu Is Much Better Than Amazon, eBay, Wish or AliExpress

Of course gays don't like it because you can't buy used underwear there.

by Anonymousreply 107September 18, 2024 2:39 AM

A what?

by Anonymousreply 1June 18, 2023 6:21 PM

Temu is a junkyard scam just like the rest of them.

by Anonymousreply 2June 18, 2023 6:22 PM

Just checked it out. It looks cheap and unorganized, just like Wish and AliExpress. Nothing beats eBay

by Anonymousreply 3June 18, 2023 6:22 PM

The price is excellent šŸ‘Œ

by Anonymousreply 4June 18, 2023 6:24 PM

R3 if you just checked it out minutes ago, you are 3 months late!

by Anonymousreply 5June 18, 2023 6:25 PM

You can buy used underwear on Amazon?

by Anonymousreply 6June 18, 2023 6:25 PM

It’s great I got a really nicer smaller ouija board. It’s wood. All the women in my family love it.

by Anonymousreply 7June 18, 2023 6:33 PM

Where exactly can I get this used underwear? Can I specify one of the tall beefy Chinese gen z studs? They even have big fat cocks now.

Seriously with TEMu, I no longer shop at Amazon for their Amazon Basics or whatever obscure brand names they are selling under, TEMU sells the same thing with no brand names or generic names at a fraction of the price.

[...]

by Anonymousreply 13June 18, 2023 6:51 PM

OP why would I want to buy used underwear?

by Anonymousreply 14June 18, 2023 6:52 PM

Yep what R10 said, there is really no reason to spend $20 for one garment bag at Amazon when you can get three for $10 at TEMU.

by Anonymousreply 15June 18, 2023 6:52 PM

Temu is fucking ghetto and they use customs brokers to bring all their shit in from China.

Amazon is far more reliable.

Wish is ghetto, everything is from China.

Aliexpress is ghetto everything is from China and Singapore or Thailand

Ebay isn't horrible. But out of all of them Amazon is the best for new products.

Ebay and Amazon have real cx service/support. The others don't

by Anonymousreply 16June 18, 2023 6:52 PM

[quote]there is really no reason to spend $20 for one garment bag at Amazon when you can get three for $10 at TEMU

I'm guessing that all three of them will fall apart after the first time you use them. Just invest in a good one that will last and you never have to think about it again.

[quote] But the company—the U.S. offshoot of Chinese e-commerce giant Pinduoduo—is also starting to develop a reputation for undelivered packages, mysterious charges, incorrect orders, and unresponsive customer service. Temu has already been subject to more than 30 complaints to the Better Business Bureau, and has a BBB customer rating of less than 1.5 stars.

The app probably comes pre-loaded with Chinese spyware, for your convenance.

by Anonymousreply 22June 18, 2023 7:04 PM

Well, no one is forcing you to buy anything from TEMU! Keep ordering from Amazon or eBay or shopping local if you prefer, I am just glad there is another option here.

by Anonymousreply 23June 18, 2023 7:12 PM

So I just decided to test the app out and they don't give you the option of subscribing without providing a password for google / apple etc. So... nope.

by Anonymousreply 29June 18, 2023 8:20 PM

I just looked at the site for the first time and found Morgan 'silvery coins' for a little over two dollars each, so obviously fraudulent. Who buys this crap?

by Anonymousreply 30June 19, 2023 12:43 AM

It's cheap Chinese manufactured crap, but for instances where that will do it works great. Furniture and electronics I buy off Amazon or from a brick-and-mortar store; foam interior doormats and fake flowers I can risk getting an inferior version of if it only costs me a few bucks.

That said, two items I've bought have really impressed me with their function: a black pebble bath mat that grips the tub securely, and a pet hair roller that's made of plastic probably no sturdier than fast food utensils but cleans area rugs as if by magic.

by Anonymousreply 31June 19, 2023 2:09 AM

I noticed my SO's phone dragging. They had loaded the Temu app. I uninstalled and the phone picked up. I went ahead and reset the phone because you never know how intrusive those apps can be.

As for the quality of their goods, I have no idea. I used to work for a place that got all their shit from China. The older stuff in the warehouse was a much higher quality than the more recent imports. As the standard of living has improved, the quality of cheap goods has declined.

It is not surprising.

by Anonymousreply 32June 19, 2023 2:39 AM

Amazon is just for new stuff. Also, Amazon doesn't ship to a lot of countries. And if it does, a lot of the time shipping cost twice as much as the actual item. Those other three sites are just Chinese junk. Ebay is the best. Anyone can sell on eBay, you don't need to be a certified store. So you can find the most stuff there. All the junk you can find on Temu, Wish and AliExpress, you can also find on eBay. The same Chinese sellers sell on all these sites. But on eBay you can find a bunch of second hand stuff that you can't find anywhere else on the internet.

by Anonymousreply 33June 19, 2023 1:46 PM

I have been wanting to stock up on rock posters to wallpaper a guest room. They have tons on Temu for cheap, cheap cheap. I'm just worried I will spend the money and they will never arrive. Or like someone up thread said, they will start spamming me or something weird.

by Anonymousreply 34August 28, 2023 8:59 PM

Temu is absolute garbage, AND it installs malware on your phone/computer.

There is NO sale worth the BS that site puts you through, or the surveillance they do on your activity. Waddle to the dollar store instead.

by Anonymousreply 35August 28, 2023 9:04 PM

Don’t you have to buy in bulk from Ali? And isn’t Amazon now a ā€œbuy a minimum of three of this productā€ now if it’s under $50?

by Anonymousreply 36August 28, 2023 9:04 PM

I buy stuff from aliexpress, never had an issue. I certainly don't buy anything electronic, clothes, make up, dog stuff or kitchenware.

by Anonymousreply 37August 28, 2023 9:12 PM

I wouldn't spend a cent on cheap Chinese shit, sorry.

by Anonymousreply 38August 28, 2023 9:14 PM

eBay SUCKS since Trump. I used to buy medication you can’t get here in US, like extra strength (2%) Voltaren gel. Don’t tell me it’s available and OTC in US - only 1% Voltaren is available OTC here.

I even used to get 10mg codeine pills to help with horrible arthritis pain from Lyme disease. Bought robaxin pills from Canada where it’s OTC. Try buying robaxin now, US will stop it at border or charge you minimum $50 import fee for something I used to pay less than $20 for..

Also bought Emla, an excellent topical anesthetic with lidocaine and prilocaine in it.

Trump administration banned all of it from eBay. You can only buy what you can get otc in US on eBay. And useless foreign herbal crap.

by Anonymousreply 39August 28, 2023 9:14 PM

What do you mean I can’t buy medication on eBay? Where will I find my morphine drip refills?

by Anonymousreply 40August 28, 2023 9:17 PM

I’ve bought numerous items from Temu and have had zero issues. A lot of the items can be found on Amazon for 5-10 dollars more. I found a great Marimekko-esque throw in tobacco and black that cost me $17. That has been my biggest purchase.

I mostly by little things that I don’t want to pay $10 a pop for and get for a $1.87 or some ridiculous price. I am selective, and look closely at items before purchasing.

by Anonymousreply 41August 28, 2023 9:19 PM

TEMU rocks, Bitches.

by Anonymousreply 42August 28, 2023 9:37 PM

[quote]The app probably comes pre-loaded with Chinese spyware, for your convenance.

[quote]Shopping app that didn't exist 4 months ago now a source of privacy concerns

I won't order from any vendor that requires me to download their app to do so. I'm probably not as diligent about internet security as I should be, but I'm not entirely lax either. There is no fucking reason to require an app to place an order -- account details? fine; offer an app if it comes with come real some convenience or benefit to the customer? fine; but allow purchases only after downloading an app? Fuck no.

China's record on internet security and its record of allying with businesses and business fronts to harvest personal and financial information is not at all encouraging.

I don't buy a lot of plastic and synthetic goods, cheap tools, cheap metal products, cheap kitchen items, and short-lived household goods from any source. Sometimes these thing inevitably come from China, but I won't buy anything at all directly from China. They misrepresent customs rules, shipping dates, forget careful packaging, and forget bothering to send anything back -- even if half the time they send something only vaguely similar to the product (mis-)represented.

Carry n and fill your houses with plastic shower curtains and plastic this and plastic that, and shirts that cost $4.14 each, cat litter boxes for a fraction of the cost of ones bougfht in stores, or luxury brands for pennies on the dollar, up to the rafters in cheap shit at bargain prices. I don't need tawdry shit and bad knock-offs and products deceitfully represented, let alone a storeroom filled of them. The vendors lie from start to finish and, worse, their prices are artificially low in order to clog your mobiles with malware to harvest your financial data.

by Anonymousreply 43August 28, 2023 9:45 PM

Temu should just ship their plastic shit straight into landfill and cut out the middle man.

by Anonymousreply 44August 28, 2023 10:59 PM

You may not be able to buy used underwear on Temu, but there's a strange subculture of old men showing off their underwear purchases in video "reviews" on the app/website, with gratuitous posing and waistband snapping, ending with and obligatory dick flash.

by Anonymousreply 45August 29, 2023 3:06 PM

Does it take a month for shipping from China? I bought a birdcage from an Facebook ad. Nothing at all gave the impression it was a Chinese company until after purchase. It took a month for delivery that actually never happened. Tracking said delivered but it was never received and security video had no delivery of it either.

by Anonymousreply 46August 29, 2023 3:27 PM

My Temu purchases have tended to 7-10 business days, about what I'd expect for free ground shipping. I think orders are fulfilled from stateside warehouses, not shipped directly from overseas.

by Anonymousreply 47September 5, 2023 7:25 PM

I had never heard of Temu before reading this thread. So I looked for a review from a reputable website. The best I could find was a review from ZDNet. The review is rather restraint and doesn't advise directly to stay away from Temu. It has some good information though about the affiliation to China, trusting with use of data etc.

Personally, I don't find the site very compelling. I wouldn't buy expensive things there. And I usually don't purchase cheap 3-dollar tchotchkes. So this isn't for me.

[quote] Temu allows China-based vendors to sell and ship directly to customers without having to rely on intermediate distributors in the destination country, making products more affordable.[15] It sells products at a loss in order to undercut competitors' prices and get a foothold in new markets.[16] Temu offers free goods to some users who successfully refer new users via affiliate codes, social media, and gamification.[8]

[quote]The Biden administration has proposed rules that could make it more costly for Chinese e-commerce platforms like Shein and Temu to ship goods into the US. In his announcement proposing to crack down on "unsafe, unfairly traded products," President Joe Biden accused China-founded e-commerce platforms selling cheap goods of abusing the "de minimis exemption" that makes shipments valued under $800 duty-free.

[quote]Allowing this alleged abuse to continue would not just hurt US businesses like H&M and Zara that increasingly struggle to compete with platforms like Shein and Temu, Biden alleged. Most of Temu is nasty Chinese/Asian junk which just falls apart. I watched a documentary on the quality of the clothing that was coming out of Temu and the overall conclusion was that if you got 3 wears out a piece then you got very lucky. There is also all the extra slavery or bad, unsafe work conditions in various Asian countries and gross environmental pollution that Temu's business model has created.
