Well, they always see themselves as victims, don't they? It's never THEIR fault.

Caviezel would accept roles and then once on the set would demand scenes be changed to accommodate his 'faith'. So, he'd accept a role with a love scene, then refuse to do the scene at the last minute...et cetera. That's unprofessional, and unprofessional people tend to do poorly in any industry.

How is he punished? He still works and had many opportunities. He's difficult to work with which is why those roles may have dried up. Still, he was in a popular TV show. He can produce his own stuff.

He appears briefly in Gus Van Sant's My Own Private Idaho. Made me wonder.

I was at a bluegrass festival yesterday at which a group of young children played and sang a song. The lyrics went:

“I was [at some location or engaged in some activity; I believe “showering” was one of them] and somebody touched me.”

This line was repeated several times — the kids being touched by somebody while they were doing various things

I sat there thinking, they can’t really be singing about child abuse or stranger danger, can they? Is it meant to be educational??

Then came the line, “It must have been the hand of the Lord.”

My mind boggled.

I don’t know if Hollywood punished that guy for being some version of freakiness that it finds unacceptable but if they did I wouldn’t say they were on the wrong track.

I actually think that might be the case, R41. A friend of mine saw that movie (which, as I recall, was widely considered religious torture porn) and seemed to start on the path toward radicalized Catholicism around that time. I remember her talking about the sufferings of Jesus as portrayed in that movie as if it were all factual.
