In other words, bi men tend to hang out with straight dudes. Gay men are much less likely to have grown up and even as adults befriend women and effeminate men. Consequently, they tend to pick up nonmasculine traits, or just feel freer to not be conventionally masculine. Of course, effeminate or nonmasculine guys are less likely to hang with heterosexual dudes just like gay men.

Yes, bisexuality exists, but I believe many guys who identify as bisexual have just not accepted their homosexuality.

As for "manly," OP. I'm one man you might describe as such, but I am completely gay. In high school and college, I remained in the closet. The openly gay guys I knew then were by and large queeny. I'd argue though that they were more "manly" than I was back then. They showed courage at a time when anti-gay attitudes were rife amongst the general population. They had the balls to be who they were...a "manly" attribute to me.

I’d say just the opposite.

At one time I spent my work day interviewing people about their sex lives. IMO lots of men have sex with other men and they do so because they can. They like sex and sex with men is so easy.

Two groups of men tended to have the most sex with other men. Prisoners which you would kind of expect. And long distant truck drivers. Opportunity and boredom I would guess.

Taxi drivers kind of went both ways as far as boys and girls.

A lot of what you might call bi guys are run of the mill sex addicts. Not always or really attracted to other men but like the feel and excitement of sex.

Simply speaking they absorb masculinity better while growing up, and there's a huge interest in them in looking manly so they can have sex with women, after all, they crave that type of experience.

The view that they are 'closeted' gays in denial is a very heterocentric one, LOTS of guys in straight porn do have gay sex at times behind the cameras. Their attraction towards females isn't fake.

My friends just had a conversation about this. We all said we know a lot of NonStraight males, but almost all of them who identify as gay, are stereotypical to some degree in that they are either effeminate, flamboyant, or display nonmasculine traits that would make a stranger suspect they are gay. However, we know a lot of bisexual and not fully straight/mostly straight guys who are unclockable, have no discernible traits or mannerisms associated with gay men. I know some who are downright thuggish, but bi or mostly straight.

It's because gay men are less likely to have children so they don't have to be alpha, dominant, masculine to attract women to breed kids. While bi and str8 men has to. " Masculinity " is just combination of genes and prenatal testosterone - hooded eyes, square jawline, wide shoulders , small waist and hips, high cheekbones - all those features are what make someone "masculine"- gay men dont need this.

This is the reason why when you look at James Charles, Jeffre Star, Sam Harris, Boy George you have 0 doubt they are 100% gay and vaginophobic.

Could the participation in biologically determined sexual relations mean that bis have more testosterone or that they maintain higher levels of testosterone? There are studies that show men who take on too much the parenting role in the care of small babies show a drop in testosterone levels. Could there be some link in "traditional" male roles and behavior with testosterone levels?

R23, but I think the difference in masculinity predates sexual activity. I think generally boys ( children) that are truly bi probably are significantly more masculine than boys who are completely homosexual
