If your kid knows how to play on an iPad, they should know how to use the loo.
Teachers in Switzerland are complaining about too many students wearing diapers in class because they don’t know how to use the toilet.

Seriously fucked up. So parents are so lazy now that they can't potty train?

Wtf. I know potty training is a chore I certainly wouldn't recommend going about it the way my mom did which was to decide that way 16 or 18 months or whatever that it was time to stop using diapers and whip us if we had an accident.

Reminded me of this episode of super nanny where the kid yells “wipe my ass”

Any Swiss posters want to comment?

I was toilet trained at knifepoint.

I thought the woman in OP's pic was Meghan Markle.

This is women in the workforce, drinking wine, being mommy influencers…. mothers serve a very important role, and as long as we want to keep denying that society will continue on it’s down slide.

If I were a teacher there is no way in hell I would show a kid how to clean themselves. I would tell them in a polite manner and I would not be in the bathroom with them. Way too easy to get accused of something. I would not blame the kid because they are told how to do things by their parent.
Can you imagine between this and kids not showering after gym class what it could smell like.

Haha! Losers.

I've never heard of such a thing. Some people shouldn't be parents.

At some point, wouldn't a child not want to crap their pants all on their own?

Students are not allowed to begin kindergarten if they can’t toilet themselves at my school. Junior kindergarteners can start school at 3 (as long as they turn 4 between September - December).

Get off the soapbox, R7, the majority of Swiss mothers work part time. From the article: “The most common arrangement for Swiss couples with children these days is strikingly reminiscent of the traditional family model of working dad and stay-at-home mum prevalent several decades ago. Although he is no longer the sole breadwinner, the father still tends to hold down a full-time job, while the mother works part-time.”
Somehow, American mothers (in a country with less generous parental leave policies, abysmal wages that haven’t kept pace with the cost of living, and twice the poverty rate of Switzerland) manage to interrupt their “wine drinking and influencing” long enough potty-train their children.

When I was teaching in the classroom, l was struck by some kids not knowing how to tell time on a clock. I’m talking 6th graders. The thought of students, no matter what age, coming to school without being toilet trained is appalling. That is totally on the parents. The parents need to be trained.

The world's going down the shitter. Fast.

Can’t the mothers change the diapers when they come to breastfeed their kids at lunchtime?

I'm currently exploring diaper wearing so as to avoid the traumatizing experience of accessing a women's restroom. I'll keep you updated on this fascinating journey.

Do they not have something like CPS over there? Fuckssake, that's disgusting.

There are dozens upon dozens of youtube and tiktok videos of people asking teens to tell the time with a clock with hands in which they have no idea. They also can't read cursive. It's hilarious and sad.
But, this is a new low.

Yeah, sure it's all that wine-drinking and influencing that women do. Spot on, R7

Agreed, R8. When I.worked at BSA camp, we were always sure to avoid being in an isolated or otherwise unoccupied location alone with a scout. We always had at least two staff members in those situations.
Even now when I'm out and about, I'll go to a different restroom if there's an unoccupied child in one I happen to enter. Which doesn't happen ALL the time, but it is still too frequent. No way, no thanks. I'm good.

The data cited in the article comes from the Swiss government, R20. Was your mommy so busy influencing she never taught you what a “puff piece” is?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 15, 2023 2:48 AM |
Surely by age 11 they're old enough to train themselves?

This. Is. Not. A. Thing!
