OUTRAGEOUS BEHAVIOR: PETE DAVIDSON's message to PETA: 'Fuck You, Suck My Dick'
Pete Davidson is going to war with PETA over the new dog he bought, and he fired the latest shot via a profanity-laced voice mail for the animal rights group -- a move he doesn't regret, but says came from a place of grief.
PETA says the actor left the heated message Monday for the org's Senior VP of Cruelty Investigations, Daphna Nachminovitch. He got her name because she'd issued a statement to TMZ, expressing PETA's collective disappointment in Pete buying a puppy at an NYC pet store instead of adopting from a shelter.
On the voice mail, Pete announces himself and says he's responding to Daphna's statement, which he calls uneducated and premature. He notes he's allergic to dogs -- as his rep told us -- and that's why he had to get a cavapoo, a nearly hypoallergenic breed because they don't shed.
He also says the dog is for his mother, who's previous pup just died.
Then comes an expletive-laced diatribe that might rival Christian Bale (not really, though) ... in which he angrily tells Daphna to do her research before talking to media, drops an F-bomb and makes a vulgar suggestion involving his penis.

About time. Peta euthanized perfectly healthy animals because they oppose pets being held in captivity. Seriously, fuck them. They are a setback for serious animal rights activists who want sensible measures like obviously opposing the majority of practices that animals unfortunate enough to end up in the food industry have to suffer.

There's a lot that can go wrong with an adopted 'reactive' dog, which is why reputable breeders should be used, instead of pet shops. I also like that a good breeder includes spay/neutering clauses, and they usually want a veterinarian reference too. Due diligence is done all around.

R36 After adding another pup to the mix here, they're all from the same breeder, I had to get a trainer, and she was very candid about rescued dogs, shelters etc.
1. He may not have met a lengthy list of prerequisites like a fenced in yard, vet references, etc.
2. Dogs that shelters are eager to adopt out, are usually traumatized, and they can't all be rehabbed.
JMO, fuck PETA, fuck pet stores. Go with a licensed breeder, and research your ass off before putting money down.

[quote]I also like that a good breeder includes spay/neutering clauses, and they usually want a veterinarian reference too.
Shelters will do that too. They’ll make you provide a vet name and number if you already have a pet and they will actually s/n the animal before adopting. A “good breeder” could just as easily require s/n because they are selling purebred animals and don’t want their customers breeding them themselves and cutting in on their business. That’s definitely not what shelters are doing. There aren’t many “good breeders” because almost by definition breeders are bad.
R8, I’d also heard those rumors for years but didn’t know the truth and before I got to your post I googled “PETA euthanizes” and the first link was PETA’s own page on why they euthanize.
I’d strongly recommend no one with a weak stomach or who gets upset seeing injured animals visit it. I almost puked.
They explain why they euthanize (and I’ve volunteered at cat rescues for a long time and there isn’t a single “no kill” shelter or rescue that doesn’t have to euthanize at some point. When an animal is dying and in extreme pain and there is no way they can save it or help it, it’s really the only humane thing they can do).
The pics PETA chose for that page are purely intended for shock value. I’ve never seen such bad cases in my life. I’m sure vets have, but nobody would ever bring an animal in to a rescue in that condition or if they tried they’d be met at the door by a rescue staffer screaming. “JESUS FUCKING CHRIST! Take that animal to a vet right now!!”
The first couple of pics are of cats missing half or almost all of their faces. They could’ve made their point without those photos. But they did it for shock value. I didn’t scroll past the first two pics.

PETA does amazing work for animals. And unlike what R3 said, they only advocate euthanasia when dealing with horribly overcrowded kennels. They're quite right in that stance.
But they are the WORST when it comes to their relations with the public in general. Whereas 95% of what they do is saving animals in terrible places, they have no idea how to connect to the public to let them know this. They spend all their publicity money on silly stunts that keep them in the news but seriously turn people off.
They could use new leadership. Most of their staff are old, angry leftovers from the 1990s.

I don’t get the hatred of intentional mutts. I mean the wife and I have a proper AKC registered CKCS, but if we were allergic to the fur, a Cavapoo would give the highest likelihood of maintaining the Cavi personality with a hypoallergenic coat. It is a problem that many of the the intentional mutts come from puppy mills, but it’s the fact that the dog is bred from parents kept in inhumane conditions not that the dog is purchased that is the problem. Meanwhile a lot of the rescues by me have a symbiotic relationship with the mills acting as a repository for dogs the mills and/or stores can’t sell rather than re-homing dogs who have fallen hard times. This encourages irresponsible breeding by the mills since they can off-load the undesirables to what is more a discount outlet than anything else. I do understand that in the south it is different.

My grandfather was a beagle breeder, but not really a seller. Like R49’s brother, there are still people in this world committed to a breed for the traits they exhibit. He bred beagles for hunting rabbits and it was remarkable to see dogs follow their innate instincts and be so happy to “work.”
We, in our age of keeping dogs as pets, forget that the reason that most of these breeds exist is because they were needed to do a job. They like doing their jobs and are so happy when they are successful.
This age of “mixed breeds” is unusual but times have changed and dogs, as our companions, must change as well. Historically, the only reason they are with us is because they adapted to our needs and gave us something.
I see no real difference in creating cross breeds today for desirable and breeding for traits 400-years ago which created today’s “pure breeds.”

Of all the groomers I have been to in the past 23 years, I have found each to be a bit 'off'. I can't blame them - having barking dogs in your face all day long can't be that much of a pleasure to spend each day.
I have been to five since getting my first dog (shih tzu) in 2020. The first groomer (sexy gay guy) changed careers after doing it for two years; the second groomer had a 'breakdown' after a few years and closed her salon, the next groomer was having trouble with her teenage daughter and had to close, the fourth groomer (whom I loved) relocated out of state (her hubby was in the military), and now I'm on the fifth with my third dog.

[quote][R69] As a groomer, how the hell do you justify 75.00 plus a tip to shear down a Yorkshire terrier?
Not r69, but I paid $140 to get an 18-year-old cat who stopped grooming herself groomed! 😬
They charged me 40 extra dollars because she was “aggressive”. I guess cats don’t like getting wet. And that surprise them?
And she came home, smelling like fabric softener. It was the first and last time I’ll ever get a cat groomed.
I understand dogs that have hair that continues to grow need to get haircuts, but if my other cat stops grooming himself when he’s 18, he can stay smelly.

I'd be more understanding if they freaked out from the vibration of the shears, but they let me make a mess of them without a problem- just seems like groomers are taking advantage given the demand.

They put her in a Hannibal Lecter mask and charged me $40 for it. It wasn’t in the price. We agreed on at the beginning, but was listed as an add-on fee that they may need to include. I didn’t foresee it going as bad as it did. And if they had the mask hanging on the wall, I don’t know why they had to charge $40 for it if they already owned it. I bet they make a lot of money using that mask.
