No thread on it and I watched it yesterday. Was better than its reputation. It must be one of Julia's Brit3.

I always hated the trailer where they kept whispering the title. Roberts looked pale and sickly and it was during her flop movie period so I had no interest in seeing it at the time but now it looks like it might be worth a look.

So, so bad....Her career was in trouble until "My Best Friend's Wedding" came along. I mean..."Michael Collins," anyone?

Yes it took a while for someone to comment on the similarity in looks between Jekyll and Hyde both played by Malkovich in lizard mode.

Glenn must have liked Bronagh Gallagher because she nabbed her for Albert Nobbs.

R11 Julia by most accounts clashed with both Glenn Close and Meryl Streep but faked it with Streep for that Oscar nomination.

R25, I'm going to go out on a limb and bet that both instances were Roberts' (and her massive ego's) fault.

Julia could say she clashed with M because that was the character. Julia's character was equally contemptuous of the G character in Mary Reilly.

But I would like to know what Julia thought of Malkovich.

I can’t stand watching John Malkovich. He just seems arrogant and slimy.

The same vibe comes off his Chicago theater scene friend, Gary Sinese. Maybe something was in the water back there.

Malkovich has a hideous body. They never show him below his chest.

Something to Talk About was a box office hit.

R39 the two year break came after Pelican Brief. She only had 94-96 without a 100 million dollar hit.

Roberts looked very unattractive in this movie, it's her natural look.

R46 wasn't that the point? To dress down America's Sweetheart. They didn't succeed but notice how all the key art for film posters for her films she has her face dominant on the poster. The studios were selling that image.

The Sleeping With The Enemy poster is perfect. Her face looks perfect.

Pretty Woman was a huge hit but Hollywood knew they had a star when Flatliners way over performed and Sleeping With Enemy did crazy business.
