To Leslie is on Netflix

Anyone else seen it? I love Allison Janney. The lead actress portrays a homeless alkie well.

No, I have NOT seen it.

I saw it during the controversy surrounding Andrea Riseborough's nomination for Best Actress. She was great but the movie itself felt rather amateurish to me. Did you like it, OP?

I rented it on Amazon Prime this past fall when it was made available on there. I'm a sucker for a desert/southern-set homespun drama. I enjoyed it. Great performances all around, with Riseborough obviously being the standout. I have listened to Marc Maron's podcast for years and was surprised by his performance in this—it was actually pretty good for him having little acting experience.

Still watching R2.

It was a low budget film, under a million. First time director so a bit amateurish but I liked it. It was one of those small indie films.

I'm a Marc Maron fan. The movie was meh but Marc was good as a real sweetheart of a guy. He could be a one-note actor; he played the same type of character in Sword of Trust. Very loveable.

Finally got around to watching this and it's a well made film that flags a bit.

But Andrea Riseborough is amazing. She plays someone unlikeable without any judgment. Leslie isn't a caricature, she's not a trashy trope. Leslie is exhausting and a nightmare to be around but Riseborough makes you root for her to recover.

Regardless of who lost out on a nomination last year, Andrea Riseborough deserved hers.

I saw it last year. Decent, but I honestly didn't think it was that great.
