Florida taxpayers pick up bill for Ron DeSantis’s culture war lawsuits
Suckers!
"Governor’s Disney battle and extremist policies are met with costly lawsuits covered by ‘blank check’ from Republican legislature...
...As a result of the mounting lawsuits against DeSantis, the governor’s legal costs, which the Miami Herald reported last December to cost at least $16.7m, have been soaring.
In DeSantis’s legal fight against Disney following the corporation’s condemnation of his anti-LGBTQ+ laws, it is going to cost the governor and his handpicked board nearly $1,300 per hour in legal fees as they look into how the corporation discovered a loophole in DeSantis’s plan to acquire governing rights over Disney World, Insider reports."

[quote] It's going to cost Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and his handpicked board nearly $1,300 per hour in legal fees to investigate how Disney found a loophole in the governor's plan to take over the company's governing rights over Disney World, stripping the new government-appointed board members of their power.
There’s nothing in the Insider article to back up this claim that the legal fees are going to be paid by the governor or the board members. Unless someone knows different, it can be assumed that the district is paying the legal fees, which means its taxpayer, which means Disney. Disney money will be funding the legal defense against its lawsuit.

As a former Disney shareholder, I say throw another armored car full of money onto the fire and suffocate him with more lawsuits whose defense the company's tax money will also fund.

Showtime quietly pulled an episode of its Vice newsmagazine last week — one that featured a report on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ time as a U.S. Navy lawyer serving at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility in Cuba.
Mentions of the originally scheduled episode, titled “The Gitmo Candidate & Chipping Away,” have been scrubbed from Showtime’s website and press portal. An email sent to press on May 24 noted that a screener of the episode was available; however, on May 30, a follow-up email noted a different installment, titled “Detransitioners & Draining the DRC,” as episode four.
No reason was given as to why the episode was pulled. Showtime declined comment. The Hollywood Reporter has asked Vice Media for comment but received no reply as of publication time.
The description of the episode hinted at potentially explosive material about DeSantis: “Seb Walker investigates allegations from former Guantanamo Bay detainees that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis witnessed acts condemned by the United Nations as torture during his past service at the controversial detention camp as a Navy JAG officer.”

He'll never be president. He has no common sense or personality.

People who want him as their president should just move to his shithole state and pretend. He already acts like he runs everything when he doesn't. He'll play along with their delusions.

This is desantis and Florida's government we're talking about. If they're admitting to it costing this much, it's probably cost twice as much.
