I assume the Muslims in London, Ontario who kept their kids home are immigrants. There will be a change in attitude but it takes a generation or two.

Instead of Pride lessons, give a surprise test in each subject on that day that's worth enough points to be the difference between passing or repeating the year for non-exemplary students. It is sort of weird that there's a pride day at school, though. It's hard for me to grasp, because I went to a (boring) STEM school, and it was very strictly academic.
