Seriously, if the kid is filing for a restraining order against a parent who's indifferent and neglectful and hasn't even seen the kid in years, then the mother is probably behind it, and neither parent deserves custody. A good family court judge would be begging the grandparents to take in the kids, with the promise that the court will order both parents to pay child support, because if they aren't fit to raise the kids they bred, the least they can do is provide financially.

They filmed 2 series of the Australian show pre Covid, when the girls were at a private school he paid for. Hardly uncommon for an actor working oversees to leave the family behind for that period. Post Covid he went to Australia and the girls stayed home. I have no idea what happened with their education then.

I think the main problem is that he has no real charisma. He’s good looking and a competent actor, but he has no star quality. Apparently he’s still represented by CAA, an agency I’m familiar with. CAA is major and a good judge of talent. I think they relegated Ioan to third-tier status years ago. They’ve apparently gotten him a small part in Will Smith’s latest film. That may be Ioan’s high point in this decade.

He’s done better than 99% of actors ever do. It doesn’t sound like he was very wise with any money he earned.

No, I was comparing Gruffudd's career to British actors of the same age. Like Gruffudd she had a promising start, appeared in some big action movies and period dramas but hasn't appeared in anything of note for years.

As for "important roles in A list films" I've looked at her recent films and other than the Underworld vampire series, she's not been in a hit film since The Aviator, 19 years ago. She played the Sharon Stone role in the remake of Total Recall with Colin Farrell 10 years ago. Love And Friendship was a decent film but didn't get much attention. But she's still a massively successful actress by anyone's standards. No, she's not spoken about alongside Winslet and Blanchett but then who is?

So do I, and this is why I tell young women to NEVER invest in their husband's career at the expense of their own. It may have seemed like a good idea for her to stay home to raise the kids and push Ioan's career as she aged out of pretty-girl roles, but it wasn't. I never in a million years thought I would be doing this.

Until recently everything appeared to be going well in my life. I had a wonderful husband and two brilliant kids who had cost us the earth in IVF but were so worth it!

However in August 2020, just as the pandemic was really kicking in, my entire world fell apart.
