Who is the best looking First Lady of US in recent years?

My vote is for Michelle Obama.

by Anonymousreply 56June 4, 2023 10:04 PM

I 2nd that because she is a black Queen. But in all honesty Laura Bush is a good looking woman.

by Anonymousreply 1June 2, 2023 3:02 AM

Michelle Obama is no oil painting. In fact, most First Ladies have been hideous as have the men.

by Anonymousreply 2June 2, 2023 3:06 AM

Laura Bush was pretty. Rosalynn Carter was pretty, as well. Melania Trump had the best figure & clothing style, I have to admit, but I never thought her face was pretty.

My opinions.

by Anonymousreply 3June 2, 2023 3:10 AM

Michelle looks like a man.

Ms. SWAN

R3, good opinions.

Hot take: Hillary could’ve made more of her looks, if she cared to, and would’ve put asses in seats.

How you forget ME so quickly! Maybe you have the brain disease like Donald.

Oh, sank you for bringing this up.

Be best!

by Anonymousreply 13June 2, 2023 5:40 AM

Barbara Bush was the only looker since WWII.

by Anonymousreply 14June 2, 2023 5:42 AM

Jackie Kennedy didn't have perfect classical features but she knew how to make the most of her looks.

1960-1963 are not "recent years."

by Anonymousreply 16June 2, 2023 6:00 AM

^bite your tongue!

by Anonymousreply 17June 2, 2023 6:02 AM

Well, R16, if we start at 1990, there's not a whole lot to choose from, especially since some presidents served two terms.

by Anonymousreply 18June 2, 2023 6:04 AM

We can't leave Mamie Eisenhower out of a First Ladies' beauty contest, R16. That would be criminal.

by Anonymousreply 19June 2, 2023 6:06 AM

I always thought that Laura Bush looked like she’d had a lobotomy.

by Anonymousreply 20June 2, 2023 6:20 AM

Take your pick. The photo of Hillary Clinton isn't very flattering.

By the time most people become First Lady they are beyond the years at which the DL would consider anyone hot, except for a select number of Hollywood stars who have had masses of plastic surgery, but successfully. Mrs Obama (like Jackie on Assistance in her day) was the only one in the age range that could meet this site's exacting standards.

by Anonymousreply 23June 2, 2023 11:45 AM

[quote]Hot take: Hillary could’ve made more of her looks, if she cared to, and would’ve put asses in seats.

I've always thought that, too..

She looked stunning as a teenager/college student in the '60s, but looked hideous in her twenties. The ugly '70s fashion did her no favors. Plus, those coke-bottle glasses.. Oy.

However, by the time Bill ran for president in the early '90s, she was better-dressed and looked more polished. She was in her late forties/early fifties in that decade and looks incredible in a lot of the photos/footage from that period, particularly Bill's first term when she still had long hair and was dressing feminine (i.e., dresses/skirts).

I don't know why she gave it up. It would have been one of her biggest political assets. Lord knows it helped Bill get elected that first time.

by Anonymousreply 24June 2, 2023 11:55 AM

R15- Yes, she knew how to make the most out of her EMBRYONIC looks.

by Anonymousreply 25June 2, 2023 11:59 AM

[quote]She looked stunning as a teenager/college student in the '60s, but looked hideous in her twenties.

I noticed that too when I saw a doco on Hillary. Odd strategy to marry a guy who is notoriously attractive and a player, and make yourself look as frumpy as possible. 70s fashions weren't good, but plenty of women managed to look good in them, and her hair and glasses weren't standard 70s. I wonder what psychological issues she was working through. Possibly she felt the need to look like a bluestocking to be taken seriously in her career? Or maybe she IS gay, married him because she saw they could move mountains as a couple, but changed her looks to encourage him to look elsewhere early?

by Anonymousreply 26June 2, 2023 12:10 PM

Nah R25. In the photo at R15 she radiates class and charisma. I vaguely remember that when Jack and Jackie made an official visit to France, he made some joke about all the media's attention being on her.

by Anonymousreply 27June 2, 2023 12:41 PM

Only six First Ladies since 1990, R16. BORING.

by Anonymousreply 28June 2, 2023 12:49 PM

60s Jackie never impressed me much, but 70s (New Yorker) Jackie was flawless.

The longer hair, oversized sunglasses, chic pants and tops.

She was STUNNING in that mid-70s period.

Michelle, Jackie and Laura….Roselyn was pretty too

I don't care for the bug eyed sunglasses, R29, and the brand logo emblazoned on the coat.

by Anonymousreply 34June 2, 2023 1:23 PM

r33 = Helen Keller

by Anonymousreply 35June 2, 2023 1:54 PM

R33, compared to some of the First Ladies, Jackie Kennedy was an incredible beauty.

by Anonymousreply 36June 2, 2023 1:58 PM

But I radiate both those thing as well as BEST hygene and fresh scent.

I don’t think wide-apart eyes are attractive, which is probably why I don’t like Jackie’s looks, or JFK Jr’s.

What about us, you cunts???

by Anonymousreply 39June 2, 2023 2:36 PM

Yes, Melanie. If I had to have sex with President Cheeto, I'd be showering all the time too.

by Anonymousreply 40June 2, 2023 2:47 PM

Michelle wins because of her inner glow and impeccable grooming combined with her physical looks. Melania's beauty is completely overshadowed by her inner ugliness. Hillary's beauty peaked during her years as First Lady, for sure. And I will say that Michelle Pfeiffer's portrayal of Betty Ford in that TV show helped me see the latter woman's beauty for the first time. She was always turned out, too. I don't find Laura Bush particularly attractive, but she does always look fresh, like she just bathed. I do think Jackie was the most beautiful First Lady this country's had, but as OP specified "in recent years" I don't think she counts. We're even pushing it with Hillary, at this point.

by Anonymousreply 41June 2, 2023 2:50 PM

Howard Chandler Christy did well by Grace Coolidge almost a century ago, seen here wearing red to match her White House china.

She looks far ahead of her time in this sketch done 99 years ago.

OP's boundaries were unreasonable and should be ignored.

by Anonymousreply 43June 2, 2023 2:56 PM

Photo of Jackie at R29 - stunning? Not stunning, IMO. Well put-together, made the most of her looks, nice thin figure? Yes.

by Anonymousreply 44June 2, 2023 4:33 PM

Lucille Ball

by Anonymousreply 45June 2, 2023 5:16 PM

Betty Ford was the fun one.

Gerald Ford seemed to really love and respect Betty. I think she was a little older than he was.

by Anonymousreply 47June 2, 2023 6:18 PM

R47 Her birth date is listed as 1918 and his is listed as 1913.

by Anonymousreply 48June 4, 2023 3:36 PM

R34, I had the same thought about the YSL logo. Shocked that someone of Jackie's sophistication and intelligence would have a lapse like that. And the logo is not small, either.

Lady Bird Johnson is not recent, exactly, but I always thought she was lovely. I saw her on a re-run of an early-70s Dick Cavett Show episode, and her beauty and intelligence were really striking. My favorite First Lady.

Jill Biden: “hottest,” she looks like a good time

Laura Bush: prettiest

Michelle Obama: best body

Vairst Leddy: ugly inside, nothing special outside either
