arrested with help of genetic genealogy
From their own pocket people pay private companies to take their DNA so it can be used against them and their families in court. It's fascinating to think about.

This is not a he said/she said scenario like Danny Masterson. Investigators got this guys seminal sample from a rape kit one of his victims provided. One of his victims........ he is a serial rapist with more than one victim. The sample was compared to the existing data on a website his relatives uploaded.

After the hearing, Nilo's lawyer, Jeff Garrigan, told reporters that Nilo is "looking forward to be taken back up to Massachusetts" where he will plead not guilty.
"He's looking forward to fighting these charges and showing that he's innocent," Garrigan added.
The four alleged attacks that resulted in Nilo's arrest took place in an industrial part of Boston's Charlestown neighborhood between Aug. 18, 2007, and Dec. 23, 2008, police have said.
Nilo was identified as a suspect through forensic genetic genealogy, officials said.
He lived in Boston's North End, as well as in Wisconsin, California and New York, officials have said. Investigators have urged anyone who thinks they could have been a victim or who has information on any case involving Nilo, to contact Boston Police or the FBI.

You've pinpointed a grammatical bugbear of mine. Rape is a bit of an iffy one because of the tendency of courts to rule "it didn't happen", but the locution you mention is used in relation to murders, car crashes, arson and every other kind of palpable crime.
Clearly if there's a body hanging out of the car, or lying in a basement with its head bashed in, the crash or the murder is very much actual. It is only the nature of the accused's participation that is "alleged". There seems to be no news organisation left on the planet that can make this distinction.

He looks a bit shell shocked. The video shows him to have a fairly mean/intense gaze too so I can see how he can be a rapist compared to the photo.
DNA is awesome - means more crimes can be cleared, deters people, and fewer false convictions too. I don't buy the 'having family loyalty' thing - it should be fair because it could happen to your family too. Just stop serious offenders from wherever they come even if it's from your own family.
[quote]that's what radical feminists keep spouting. It's always about the thrill of sex.
I don't buy that it's only about control or power too - I think a lot of it is about sex - but I think that some people have a sexual fetish for overpowering/raping someone so there can be a link. Same thing with serial killers - I think most of them have a sexual fetish for killing or having sex with dead bodies.

R37 - Imagine so many years of thinking you got away with it into very a cushy life, only to get caught by genetic evidence. Would love to have been in the room when the realization came crashing down.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 7, 2023 7:05 AM |
One of the most famous murders in the UK was solved by a family member's DNA sample.
A teenage prostitute was stabbed to death in Cardiff in 1988 and 5 black men were charged with murder, despite them all having alibis and despite witnesses saying they saw a white man leaving the property at the time of the murder. 2 were found not guilty at trial, 3 were released from prison on appeal.
In the early 00s when DNA testing had improved forensic examiners went back to the flat Lynette White was murdered in and found a spec of blood that wasn't the victim's. The hypothesis was that the murderer had cut himself on the knife when stabbing the victim. There was a DNA match with a teenager who had committed a petty crime, but was born after the murder. The police looked at the family and the kid had an uncle who looked exactly like the man the witnesses had described leaving the flat.
20 years in prison and counting.

by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 7, 2023 7:22 AM |
It is shocking how often cops have latched onto convicting a vulnerable person just to get a crime off their books. Often a low intelligence person they know they can browbeat into making a false confession or a Black person. A lot of that was because of how hard it is to solve crimes so DNA helps a lot with that.

R53 To be fair, a lot of women especially attractive ones won't necessarily put out and have casual sex, they'll make a straight man date them, work for it. That's why attractive straight men still use escorts if they just want sex and to sleep around. It's a different culture to gay male culture.

Rillema co-owns a contracting business called Eagle Contracting Services. His name hasn't been scrubbed from their site. There's this thread on Reddit where one poster says that he or she worked with Rillema at a company several years back. He was the CEO and was fired a year later due to rumors of an inappropriate relationship with an intern. Another poster replied with "He was a terrible person when I knew him". Rillema is quite fugly. Fox News has an article on him stating several sources said he was a secret investor in strip clubs. Daily Mail has an article on him with pics of him with his family. The kids faces are blurred out. Rillema's wife isn't a beauty queen. She has an ugly gummy smile and in a more recent she looks a bit neatherdralish. Rillema and his wife looked awkward in one of the pics of them dressed up. They are the perfect example of unattractive upper middle class couple trying to act like their shit doesn't stink. There were a couple of pics of them at Michigan State University football game. Rillema was wearing an alum sweatshirt. I wouldn't be surprised if he had victims at MSU, but they may have been scared college girls who didn't report.

That would mean that every downtrodden, unattractive person in the world would be a rapist. And of course they’re not.
A conventional date where both parties have boundaries and make individual choices wouldn’t fulfill a rapist’s needs. They want to violate.
