I wish there were more straight guys here. Since my boyfriend and I broke up I’ve been craving straight guys.

But the DL has, for most of its existence, been a party hosted by gay men FOR gay men and a gay sensibility, with a welcome open door to our lesbian sisters, as well as other respectful straights.

It IS a gay men's website. That's the way we began it and that's the way we grew and nurtured the site, so many years ago.

At one point in the early days the Lesbians were give their own section of the DL but they were lousy at respecting boundaries (they haven't changed).

I know that it irks lesbians for gay men to have anything of our own, they can't stand it. With the Datalounge, as much as you've tried to make yourselves equal, you aren't equal. This is our site. Actually it doesn’t bother me at all who posts here, most of the time. Because I’m not a control freak. I’m able to ignore something if I don’t like it. Try it.

But personally I don’t have issues with who posts, I’d rather have anyone than some of the mean, bigoted or nasty types who must be a real joy to know in real life. I’d love not to have those here.

I think of it as a gay men's site primarily because the content (ignoring the post-2015 MAGA/Russia trolls) is primarily about gay male porn, shirtless men, pop music and classic Hollywood 'divas,' and generally not content of lesbian interest.

For example, my sidebar of watched threads right now includes a 'fitness hottie,' Kylie Minogue (do lesbians love her?), Barbra Streisand, Sunny Hostin and Whoopi Goldberg, David Muir, Steve Grand, All About Eve. None of these seem like they'd be particularly of interest to gay women...maybe Sunny, maybe Whoopi?

There's no lesbian porn here, there doesn't seem to be a lot of lesbian-centered gossip.

But of course all content is open to everyone and I know we have resident ElderLez and others...it just feels to me more like they've chosen to wander into an online gay bar or something rather than the place being co-owned and operated by gay women.
