Summary? Read the goddamn book, it's not complicated. It's beautifully written and not at all exploitative. Lupe Velez drowning in the toilet after taking an overdose and arranging herself prettily on her bed...you have to read the real deal, not the Cliff's notes.

Why does everyone give him shit over Hollywood Babylon? The vast majority of Old Hollywood bios are just as fictionalized, he just had more fun with it than anyone else.

And his vision was the first truly explicitly gay, avant garde, dream like ceremony cinema. Watch Scorpio Rising or Puce Moment.

I like his films, but he was a compulsive exaggerator (if not an outright liar). Nope - he. was not the changeling prince in AMND. A little girl named Sheila Brown is said to have played the role, but maybe Anger saw the film as a child and became obsessed with being that character, so much that he grew to believe he was actually in the film. This obsession may have contributed greatly to his filmmaking career, and the fantastic tales in “Hollywood Babylon” (which I admit I enjoyed even though a lot of it turned out to be total B.S.)

R30, truth was never the point of any of the Hollywood Babylon books. (I include the unpublished third which was to include the photo of a grinning Brando with Wally Cox' cock in his mouth.) It was part of Anger's black magick shenanigans, a Puck‐like prank, or spell.
