I recall reading another article about 20 years ago that was already voicing concern that the weight of all the new skyscrapers are causing the island to sink, especially the half below Central Park.

I heard that they saved Venice so maybe New York should be next.

Yeah but there are only major skyscrapers in two clusters, ie. Midtown and Wall Street area.

This is kind of heartbreaking. I love NY. My hometown. I've been told no place in the whole world like NYC, but on top of that it has so many memories for me since childhood.

But the greedy developers are going to continue to build new construction. Just like they do everywhere else. They destroy everything they can.
