I love the music.
Her fans on TikTok have come up with all these conspiracy theories including that Jamie Lynn is pretending to be Britney. That Britney died and it’s all AI. They have videos slowed down that they say show that it’s really her sister pretending to be her. lol

#FreeBritney really did show the issue with trying to reduce complex problems down to hashtags. It really needed to be something along the lines of #Her family are shit but she clearly needs some sort of care that's capable of making her to take her meds

Does Britney leave her house often? I don’t follow her much, but it seems like most of the clips linked here are of her dancing in her empty house. She taught for her freedom, but still seems like a prisoner.
I assume she is a multimillionaire and could afford to travel the world, access the best medical care, and live the life of her choosing. If she’s not working, she could leave LA and start over somewhere else less toxic (no pun intended).

This reminds me of a few weeks ago, when I traveled to Coney Island. I was sitting down at an outdoor table, eating my hot-dog, when a man sat on the bench across from me. He starting angrily spouting off some nonsensical ramblings. I became so uncomfortable that I got up and left. Britney is so obviously schizophrenic. She needs to be locked up in a home where she's force fed medication, otherwise there will be worse to come.

R2 Just because a person needs help regulating their medication, that is no reason to deprive them of their legal right to personhood. What the court system and JS did to Britney is a travesty.
Sadly, bullshit conservatorship happens to old people all the time. Not because it's in their best interest to become wards of the state, but because people are battling over control of their assets.

R26 That was such a shame. At the time of this performance they were probably two of the most attractive people on the planet, the sexual chemistry between them that night was incredible. It’s like they couldn’t wait to rip each others clothes off once they got back to their dressing room. I suspect they were dating for a while, but kept it very private. I truly believe that Michael would have had a happy life if he had been allowed to marry Britney, and that he would still be alive today. They would be living on the ranch quietly raising their kids just like any other normal couple.
It still upsets that some people believe the lies about Michael. Michael was pure and innocent and too good for this world. When he was licking those little boys asses it wasn’t sexual at all, he was just cleaning them, just like Jesus washed the feet of lepers. Why can’t people understand this?

I think it's been commented about on here re: opening her dance studio...and that it would keep her busy and doing something else besides those dumb twirly videos or her catwalk "fashion shows" she does. She must have heard that from somewhere online because one time she made a humorous reference as if she had opened a dance studio, but I think that might be too much for to handle, unless she could have someone ELSE teaching the routine, and then just stop them and be like the creative director or show them how to do it...something along those lines. But it doesn't seem like she could handle even that, unfortunately.

I don't know why people expect her to be sane. She has a mental illness, I think that's pretty well known. Free Britney was because mentally ill people don't always need conservators- in fact they RARELY need them, and they don't need someone to lock up their millions into a trust and take millions in fees. I like her crazy. She isn't hurting anyone or herself- if she pulls out the knives, maybe she has to have some hospital time. But she doesn't need a conservator- that is off the rails. I think most artists are mentally ill. (I say artist in the broadest sense of the term)

Britney has a more complex diagnosis - what about her messy hair and public antics threatens R77? How withholding was his mommy? Keeping it all together for a lifetime is not possible for everyone. She's sad to me. Britney was hyped up all her life and lacked the skills, brains and talent to cope and survive as a "nobody." She was cute and charming and marketable for corporations. She was the perfect package to sell Europop, lite R&B and EDM to a white American audience. But she was never educated, smart or musically gifted or an excellent dancer. She had heavy investment and a big corporate push to make her happen. It's funny with all the "industry plant" accusations of Billie, Cardi and Ice Spice, nobody looks at Britney with her Disney and NSYNC/Backstreet Boys ties (who were already popular in Europe and The US had her open for them) as a prototype for that. Britney added a heavy sexuality to bubblegum teen pop too which further convinced the industry all you needed was softcore porn to make a big star. Teen pop stars back in the day were mostly innocent and suggestive at best while Britney was heavily sexualized. Britney only knows being sexy and shaking her butt and twirling around. She's just a product of her environment.
She's bitter and angry because she knows she's mediocre in every way and that's why she compares herself to or drags down every other female pop star or celebrity. Love them or hate them, Christina and Beyonce have more talent and it pisses her off they still have massive fanbases while she's stuck on Instagram embarrassing herself. Also mental illness or not, Britney is too lazy to actually improve herself. She could get singing and dancing lessons, learn an instrument or write songs. Turn her anger into something impressive and try to revive her legacy. But she won't and it's hard to feel sorry for her. While she's mentally ill, she's not braindead. She lies about everything in her life. She can drive, drink coffee, tour the world and vacation. While I agree her conservatorship was exploitation, she wasn't restrained or heavily controlled to the extent she exaggerated. She is a pathological liar. Justin Bieber and Aaron Carter are basically her male counterparts but don't get nearly the same amount of forgiveness and excuses as she did.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | May 28, 2023 5:35 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 88 | May 28, 2023 5:52 PM |
She's an absolute tragedy.
She was completely destroyed by the music business, her family, everyone around her.
She was clearly being exploited and even abused.
She plead for her freedom. A huge community supported her because people deserve to be in charge of their own fates.
And now we see why she really did need someone guiding her.
I believe she most likely would not have ended up like this if her family had not rented out her life as a cash cow. I think her life experience did this to her.
Those people can't be given control over her life.
But someone should be caring for her.
But no one could be trusted to care for her. She is too famous, worth too much, and people will always exploit her.
She has no chance.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | May 28, 2023 5:55 PM |
R88 I think it's a dumb term actually. Because most of the industry are "plants." Most of those "rags to riches" stories are phony and many so-called "indie acts" are already on a major label and supported by powerful people. The industry just likes to "test the waters" by putting an unknown out there and giving them this life story that seems relatable and aspirational and see if they will "stick." They'll give them a high-budget song or video yet claim they made they made it in their basement or something. Bieber and Billie had established their contracts before getting super popular yet had to sell an image of "hustling" and "going viral" to especially gain a young naive audience since kids want role models.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | May 28, 2023 5:56 PM |
R89 I agree. Her parents failed her and she has the right to be mad with them. But she is bringing a lot of her anger on others who weren't involved with her issues. Social media is also a terrible place to overshare your issues that should be done privately with a therapist. Also K Fed is an asshole and a loser for bringing his kids into this mess. Sam is a fame whore himbo who wanted to ride on Britney's coattails and not helping her. He's just as full of himself as her other exes. She's too wealthy and too uneducated and overemotional to not be exploited and a tragedy.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | May 28, 2023 6:04 PM |
R91 I can't blame her for being guilty or "overemotional" because she has a *severe* mental illness of some kind. She can't be held responsible for her actions or thoughts.
This is why I am so annoyed when politicians and media pundits talk about "mental illness" in terms of people feeling sad, body image, being unhappy with one's state of being. That's life. I have been extremely depressed and even suicidal throughout much of my life. Even that does not deserve to be grouped with schizophrenia and bipolar psychosis. People with psychotic tendencies do not live in the same reality we do, not a lot of the time, anyway. That's true, profound mental illness, and it's lost in the mix of discussions about what really amounts to sadness and loneliness and poor social conditioning.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | May 28, 2023 6:15 PM |
R92 You make good points. Unfortunately I think most so-called Britney fans don't care about her mental illness either. They seem to want her to either go back to her glory days like it's 2000 (despite the fact the pressures of stardom triggered her) or "crazy" like 2008 again (it's gross who that era of shaved head Britney, crying Paris and blackouted Lindsay are memes now).

The marriage must be a challenge.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | May 28, 2023 10:27 PM |
R93 Most people seem to be on some level of the sociopathy spectrum to me.
I felt horrified for Britney and by extension all big celebs when I saw video of her being physically surrounded and stalked by scores of photographers back when Perez Hilton's blog was a thing. She looked horrified being ushered through the crowds and into her car with blinding flashes all around and people yelling things at her to get her to look at them. It looked like hell.
But the public beat the shit out of her.
Then she drove with the baby on her lap, beat up a car with an umbrella, shaved her head, went into a rehab center and people were monstrous about it. Hardly any compassion.
The "Free Britney" movement should have been compassionate but it really was just a new package for people to express rage and hatred. They just directed the rage and hate at her family, the California legal system, etc. Not to say that those parties are beyond criticism at all but the point is that people's focus was on the hatred and freeing Britney was the excuse to be hateful.
She got out and now it's split between laughing at her, mocking her while pretending to feel sympathy for her, blaming her family, and making predictions about when her life will end tragically.
It's all fucking sick and there is very little compassion or empathy in any of it.
People don't say they feel for her. They objectify her. No one seems to try to imagine what she must feel like being trapped in such a hellish existence. Instead, it's been more like "free your crazy daughter so she can sing and dance for us until she dies."
by Anonymous | reply 95 | May 28, 2023 10:38 PM |

[quote] What exactly is an industry plant? I’ve heard that many times about various artists but I don’t understand why people think that of some artists or even what that means.
It's a performer who is not necessarily more talented than anyone else out there. However, the industry people with money and power put resources (marketing, studio time, glow-up (new teeth, plastic surgery, clothes), etc.) behind the person because they think/know they can make money off of that person.
Ice Spice is rumored to be an industry plant.
There's a Brady Bunch episode involving studio people wanting to turn Greg Brady into "Johnny Bravo" only because he fit the sequined suit they already had.

Off-topic: this may be a stupid question, but say your record company wants to throw big money behind you like that. As an artist you don’t want to risk being perceived as a plant because your reputation amongst your peers matters to you. Could you turn it down and still be signed? Do you even have a choice with stuff like that? Would you be an idiot to even care about what your peers think?
I am just really fascinated by the music industry, but I don’t really know much about it.

It's not right that she was put to work while under the conservatorship. Touring is a gruelling business. If she was so unwell as to under the power of her father, then touring should have been taken off the table.
She should also have a lot more than $60M to her name.
Therapy and a good shrink would make a hell of a difference to her current life. The videos and naked pics are beyond sad.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | May 29, 2023 11:13 PM |
I moderately disagree. She was slowly put back together through the work. And it's not like she didn't get self-esteem from that, in addition to money. At the start she couldn't do much dancing and had two people flanking her for every little move. But she slowly built up functioning. I watched the whole process of getting her into that Vegas residency. She rehearsed and then did that show, regularly. A full time job. She got more and more functional. She also managed a season on X factor without a complete freakout. The vegas residency grossed 137 million. I think she was able to find the stability that led her to fight to exit the conservatorship. That's my take and I'm sticking to it. I think she needs structure and it's obvious now, post conservatorship, she has no structure, and she is spiralling.

R103 I think the conservatorship was needed at first because she was completely out of control and was going to end up dead or in prison. Many in her circle admitted it saved her life. Her career and her finances were basically at rock bottom (her managers were robbing her blind, Blackout was a flop and that 2007 VMA performance got her so much flack) until that conservatorship. Now I definitely think once she got back to business with that Vegas residency and tour and getting radio hits and that perfume endorsement, her fortune skyrocketed and corrupt handlers started exploiting her and funneling money from her with aging father being too stupid to see it. I can see her likely growing more and more defiant over time due to her mental illness resurfacing (bipolar or schizoaffective is difficult to treat) and eventually getting tired of being under restrictions thus acting out again. Once Sam got into the picture, he enabled her to go force with ending the conservatorship. Its rumored Sam was the leader of #FreeBritney by posting online and acting as a whistleblower. This is one situation where I can see both sides, her family and management were overstepping boundaries (even with a mental illness, Britney has rights) and Britney's mental state becoming too erratic to control. She needed a new party to overlook her conservatorship (not her family but people should could trust) rather than it terminated altogether. She is in a very vulnerable position now with no allies and she alienated what she had previously.

I think she takes speed

R105 Mania is natural speed. Drugs like Seroquel and lithium slow down people who are naturally in fast forward.

Or maybe just unmedicated bipolar, r105, with some sort of personality disorder thrown in. I know someone who refuses to take meds for his bipolar as it will interfere with his drinking. He must have NPD as well because he is exceptionally attention seeking and extremely annoying. At least some people like Britney and care about her. Nobody likes the guy I know, not even his own family, including his kids.

Most people with personality disorders were traumatized by others—narcissist parents, abusers, pedophiles, etc.—and they develop these personality to cope and survive.
Britney's family exploited her all her life, and her reality (regardless of what others think—she pleaded to a judge publicly about this) is that her parents and her sister have effectively enslaved her as a cash cow.
Her producers, the music and stage performance industries, have milked her, too.
How could she not be fucked up?
