He was also Murphy Brown's adult son in the Murphy Brown reboot from a few years ago. He played Avery, who was famously named after the Colleen Dewhurst character in the original run that caused so much controversy at the time when Murphy had a baby as a single mom. He was a foreign correspondent who lost his job and had to move home.

They should have centered the show around him as a Ronan Farrow-type investigative reporter.

I give him credit for changing his look - it worked wonders for Charlie Hunnam to go to this long hair and scruffy look.

That's the difference between someone like McDorman and James Wolk who also seems to get chance after chance without being able to hit.

They just try inserting Wolk "as-is" into another new project. While they had previously don't this with McDorman also, this time he's changed it up. Whether it works or not, at least it's something new to look at.
