Popular TV Series that prove "too straight" for most DLers

Most of the police procedurals? Some of them have some very good-looking actors, but still.

Those aren't "straight". They're geared toward seniors.

I'm glad you started this thread, OP. I never jumped on the bandwagon for any of the following: Ted Lasso, Entourage, Lost, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, The Good Wife/Fight, Walking Dead, Glee.

I'm usually down for anything that has to do with show business, but Entourage just didn't get me, and I tried it for a whole season.

R5 is unclear on the concept. Downton Abbey, Walking Dead, and Glee aren't "too straight", in fact they all have gay content.

R5, you're missing out with "Breaking Bad" and "The Good Wife" (sometimes). I watched Downton and lived to regret it. Haven't watched the rest of them.

Friday Night Lights

Off the top of my head, I'd say Curb Your Enthusiasm. Never even checked it out, it just seems aggressively straight from a mile off.

r5 You might not have jumped on the bandwagon for The Good Wife/Fight, but those two shows weren't too straight for most DLers. They were campy as hell, especially the Baranski spinoff. Same for Glee and DA. I agree about the others listed.

Laughing at the way we all pounced on the poor r5.

Succession current season is on its fourth thread. Whatever the hell it is, it ain't too straight for DLers.

It might be just three posters talking to each other though, you never know on DL.

Although I don't think that's the case for the Succession threads.

I may be the only human in America to have never seen a single episode of Seinfeld, but I never understood the appeal. To me, that was the show for straight people only. But I know tons of gays that watched it.

I don't think breaking bad ever had any gay characters (Oh wait. Gus Fring may have been implied to be gay) but it's one of the best TV shows ever, so I think everyone should watch it. I've never seen a show, so well plotted from beginning to end. Surely the creator must've had the entire story planned out before they even shot the first episode. It was just too perfect.

But I agree with The Big Bang Theory. Two And A Half Men, and Everybody Loves Raymond.

Is it possible that ANY gay watched any of those? And that's kind of sad, especially for the Big Bang that had an openly gay lead actor.

I know Grey's Anatomy had a lot of gay characters, but I don't think I could've ever sat through an episode. That was straight lady TV.

Succession and Breaking Bad have zero interest for me.

R20 - Regarding Curb Your Enthusiasm, I would agree with you and then add that Susie Greene is a role model for another sizeable percentage of DL's posters.

No, they planned to kill Jesse off at the end of the first season but the writers strike put an end to that. Then they had to scramble and cone up with it as they went along.

Of course, gays watched The Good Wife.

But we were really watching for cunty Julianna Margulies trying to get rid of scene-stealer Archie Panjabi.

Many a DL thread dedicated to the cuntiness of Miss Margulies.

The Big Bang Theory had an openly gay lead who won Emmies.

So, yeah, I watched it. Not to mention Mayim Bialik has a tiny place in gay camp history, in spite of her conservative religious beliefs.

For me, Sopranos, total macho BS, albeit with great acting. Yeah they had one gay character, but look what happened to him.
