A domestic peace corp, where young adults give three years to serve the poorest areas of America, one year for training, then two in the field, just like our international program.

So….I can think of a LOT of gestures we could make to show that we acknowledge the wrongs committed in our past. We have to TRY to learn the lessons of the past, or we will surely make the same mistakes again. I want us to move forward, not backward, but to do that, we have to see our past for what it really is and try to heal those wounds so they can at least become scars.

Ok, this is going to sound really insensitive. Sending pretty young white Beckys and Chads into the inner city schools to "reach out" to poor ghetto black kids would be met with intense hostility and even violence. And honestly, with the cost of living being what it is, young people want to MAKE MONEY as quickly as possible in order to have a certain standard of living.
