YouTube auto reviewer Comes Out of the Closet

His name is Roman. What got me was the fact that he was so troubled by the thought of being gay that he almost attempted suicide and admitted to it online. I’ve been watching him off and on for a few years. Sometimes his snark is exhausting. It occurred to me that he might be gay because of his bitchy personality and humor. But my gaydar is not reliable. It sounds like he’s had a hard time with it. And he’s from Central Pennsylvania, the Alabama of the North. And now he’s out at forty one. I wish him the best….

I saw another car guy comes out video recently. People think gays don't have a thing about cars the way str8 guys do? There many huge car threads on DL. Though one Mary ran in and said how gay we were for liking American cars of the 70s. I kid you not.

by Anonymousreply 1May 12, 2023 1:20 AM

Maybe if he were cuter looking, this would get more traction, OP.

by Anonymousreply 2May 12, 2023 1:27 AM

There is a kitschy quality to cars of the 60s and 70s. Very gay.

Isn’t the Hagerty reviewer Jason Cammisa gay too? So is Frank Markus and Martin Padgett. Both used to work for Motor Trend and Car and Driver respectively. Padgett seems to be a bit arrogant. A lot of automotive journalists are.

I’m not familiar with the guy you’re referring to OP.

by Anonymousreply 3May 12, 2023 1:31 AM

Phallicly speaking, he puts my gearshift in reverse. Also, he seems a little aut(o)tistic? Or slightly recarded?

by Anonymousreply 4May 12, 2023 1:32 AM

Car jack off videos are hot, if Roman wants a side hustle.

by Anonymousreply 5May 12, 2023 1:32 AM

Millennial guys were the first generation to have online gay pron at their fingertips. Now they're all fluid/bi.

by Anonymousreply 6May 12, 2023 1:37 AM

[quote]Learning to Be Gay

Lesson # 1 - lighten up, Mary!

by Anonymousreply 7May 12, 2023 1:49 AM

Lesson #2: Follies!

by Anonymousreply 8May 12, 2023 1:51 AM

It’s always the “masculine” ones who are the biggest cowards.

Good for him I guess.

by Anonymousreply 9May 12, 2023 1:53 AM

[quote]It’s always the “masculine” ones who are the biggest cowards.

They feel they'll be rejected by the draggy str8s they befriend.

And don't "identify" with gay "culture".

by Anonymousreply 10May 12, 2023 1:54 AM

OMG, he's gay? I watched a few Regular Car Reviews but found him to be annoying so stopped. Granted he is not nearly as annoying as Doug Demuro (whom I despise) or Hoovie (who I can tolerate watching once every few months).

by Anonymousreply 11May 12, 2023 2:00 AM

[quote]OMG, he's gay?

^ THIS is probably what he's been dealing with.

Is he always so covered up or can we see what he actually looks like?

by Anonymousreply 12May 12, 2023 2:03 AM

I fucked him in a 79 dodge horizon. It was glorious.

by Anonymousreply 13May 12, 2023 2:22 AM

Glum, self-obsessed, and bathing in detached depression.

I can’t imagine wanting more after this clip.

by Anonymousreply 14May 12, 2023 2:35 AM

He makes being gay sound awful. Like he’s stage 4 and has been enlightened about embracing death.

Sucking dick and getting fucked doesn’t need to be this serious.

by Anonymousreply 15May 12, 2023 2:40 AM

I think he needs to smoke a lot of pot.

by Anonymousreply 16May 12, 2023 2:44 AM

@r1, "People think gays don't have a thing about cars the way str8 guys do? "

I'm a total car guy AND totally Gay 👍

by Anonymousreply 17May 12, 2023 3:50 AM

Here he is larking about in the shower shaving his head and "being funny". He's got the gay sense of humor thing sorted, that's for sure.

Not being true to himself for 40 years. Poor guy

Hope he makes up for unnecessarily lost time

by Anonymousreply 19May 12, 2023 10:02 AM

Maybe this is a stunt to get more views. A guy crashed a plane for views, these guys will do anything. His "coming out" video didn't seem authentic, maybe I'm wrong but I was getting a bullshit vibe from the whole thing.

by Anonymousreply 20May 12, 2023 10:05 AM

R18: sorry I’m rather slow, but who/what is ‘Jevv Baebos’?

by Anonymousreply 21May 12, 2023 10:05 AM

Jeff Bezos r21?

by Anonymousreply 22May 12, 2023 10:07 AM

R22: but isn’t Bezos bald?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 23May 12, 2023 10:09 AM

yes, hence the shaving of the head in the shower.

by Anonymousreply 24May 12, 2023 10:11 AM

R24: OIC . Thanks

It’s probably because of the ‘straightness’ of it that got me confused

by Anonymousreply 25May 12, 2023 10:14 AM

" but isn’t Bezos bald? "

He also got his face caught in a blender 🥴

by Anonymousreply 26May 12, 2023 10:53 AM

R1- I was the person who started the thread about how much I miss the big American cars of the 1970’s and I had over 400 responses to my thread.

by Anonymousreply 27May 12, 2023 11:03 AM

I’m wondering if someone he hooked up with threatened to out him and this was a carefully orchestrated way for him to get out ahead of the situation.

by Anonymousreply 28May 12, 2023 11:10 AM

Meh. Gay guys love cars too. Who cares.

by Anonymousreply 29May 12, 2023 11:10 AM

I worked at a gasoline station for two years when I was in high school- pumping gas ⛽️ and checking under the hood, putting air in peoples tires 🛞 sometimes- we were full serve - I automatically cleaned 🧼 the front and back windows. They were very few self-serve gasoline stations in my area back in the early 80s.

by Anonymousreply 30May 12, 2023 11:17 AM

The guy who does the Regular Old Cars reviews with him seems like he is nicer. He actually does real stories on the automotive industry, not esoteric snark like this Roman character.

by Anonymousreply 31May 12, 2023 11:36 AM

He looks a lot cuter in this video and actually smiles a lot.

He is definitely "straight acting" - I know people hate that expression but it is appropriate in this instance. I wonder how much gay sex experience he has had.

Looks like he found another gay car nerd @ 6:00

They should hook up.

They're are gays everywhere.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 33May 12, 2023 11:51 AM

R32 He’s not even attractive. He can talk about all the pussy he got he wants, most girls wouldn’t find him attractive he looks like a nerd.

He’s not Colton Underwood or anything.

by Anonymousreply 34May 12, 2023 11:58 AM

Mr. Regular!

by Anonymousreply 35May 12, 2023 12:14 PM

R33- The other guy at 6 minutes is most certainly NOT straight acting/sounding.

by Anonymousreply 36May 12, 2023 12:23 PM

R32- I agree the SJW only allow us to say MASCULINE. I once bought a book by Michelangelo Signorelie ( spelled his name wrong I know) and woman was interviewed and said they're are masculine gay men that still look GAY.

I agree- what makes a certain gay guy look and sound straight is not always about being so masculine. A perfect example is Ted Schmidt from Queer As Folk. He was not at all effeminate but not masculine either yet he could easily pass for a nerdy/geeky straight guy.

by Anonymousreply 37May 12, 2023 12:27 PM

R34- Colton Underwood is quite bland looking to me.

by Anonymousreply 38May 12, 2023 12:33 PM

There are tons of car gay groups on Facebook.

by Anonymousreply 39May 12, 2023 12:38 PM

Coming out should be celebratory, not funereal. At age 40, like, c'mon. It's time to get LAID. That's exciting!

by Anonymousreply 40May 12, 2023 12:39 PM

Maybe he’s not strongly attracted to either sex.

by Anonymousreply 41May 12, 2023 12:42 PM

Can you imagine being on a date with this guy going on about his cars? Hard pass.

by Anonymousreply 42May 12, 2023 12:50 PM

R31- Do you mean this guy?

I have a crush on him. I think he's cute. I love big American cars from the 1960's and especially the 1970's- because I actually remember those.

by Anonymousreply 43May 12, 2023 12:51 PM

If he's feeling suicidal about being gay I'm sure his sexuality and sexual attractions are NOT tepid, R41.

Trust me this guy has problems he's just hanging all his baggage on "being gay".

by Anonymousreply 44May 12, 2023 12:51 PM

I dated a car geek once. I’m somewhat of a car geek myself. But this guy took it to the next level…he might have been on the autism spectrum.

by Anonymousreply 45May 12, 2023 1:26 PM

*Ding ding ding ding*

R45 I think you may have just cracked the code with this guy.

by Anonymousreply 46May 12, 2023 1:28 PM

You can't be obsessed with other people's approval and be gay. Breeders are never going to approve of you.

by Anonymousreply 47May 12, 2023 1:31 PM

So how was he scratching the homo-itch for the past 40 years if he's only coming out now...?

by Anonymousreply 48May 12, 2023 1:31 PM

Yes r46. This guy kept correcting me if I got a statistic wrong or said a certain car had a certain engine, things like that. And if I didn’t like the same car he liked. It got exhausting. I stayed only because he was paying for the food. I didn’t contact him again. I once saw him in a bar shortly before I got out of the military (this was San Diego). He waved at me and I walked right past him. I probably should’ve said something to him but he was annoying af.

by Anonymousreply 49May 12, 2023 1:33 PM

@r42, "Can you imagine being on a date with this guy going on about his cars? Hard pass. "

I only date guys who know their way around a car. If you can't identify 75% of the cars on the road and at least know the engine/hp/drivetrain of your own car, then we might not have much to talk about 😏

by Anonymousreply 50May 12, 2023 1:33 PM

He sure put a lot of… ummmm… thought into that.

by Anonymousreply 51May 12, 2023 1:35 PM

[quote]I only date guys who know their way around a car. If you can't identify 75% of the cars on the road

But they all look the same.

by Anonymousreply 52May 12, 2023 1:40 PM

He could be on the spectrum but he’s a master of sarcastic humor so it’s unlikely. I’m guessing internalized homophobia and toxic masculinity.

by Anonymousreply 53May 12, 2023 3:23 PM

@r52 "But they all look the same. "

So do people 😏

by Anonymousreply 54May 12, 2023 3:27 PM

Verificatia of sizemeat?

by Anonymousreply 55May 12, 2023 4:27 PM

Good for him for coming out of the closet!

But "being a YouTube personality gets you through the door???" Good Lord, what has the world come to!!

by Anonymousreply 56May 12, 2023 5:51 PM

He just needs to make a few friends and start dating. My partner wasn't experienced when we met and he was 35. This guy is masculine and fit enough that there is a huge market for guys like him. Plenty of gay men want there friends to be fun, sassy and campy but want their man to be manly and serious. He'll be fine.

by Anonymousreply 57May 12, 2023 7:10 PM

R57- That sounds like me 😑

I'm manly and serious.

by Anonymousreply 58May 12, 2023 8:18 PM

I bet it is massive. Skinny guys like him have surprises in their pants.

by Anonymousreply 59May 12, 2023 11:14 PM

R59- I have VERY large feet and I also have a large

CK

by Anonymousreply 60May 13, 2023 12:54 AM

R58 Go find you a dizzy, silly twink. He will let you fuck him whenever you want and you don't have to go to brunch with his magpie friends either. You will be in control.

by Anonymousreply 61May 13, 2023 12:58 AM

R61- I like that word Magpie

It's such a datalounge thing to say.

by Anonymousreply 62May 13, 2023 1:02 AM

I think he' s very cute. Nice body type, and the chest hair is a huge plus. His personality is definitely weird (seems like he could very well be on the high-functioning end of the spectrum), but I frankly enjoy the company of people who are a bit left of center. 100% would date/fuck him.

I usually stay quiet when people come out late in life do to lack of compassion. But I am glad there are those who provide sympathy and support.

I always have unkind questions like: He mentioned High School seniors shouting f-g, was that his imagination or a bullying experience? Attempted suicide but still didn’t come out, was he hoping for a cure? Is he only coming out now because he gave up? I understand my inquiry doesn’t deserve an answer but “Why now?” Is all I can think about so I just sit back and let warm hearts take the lead.

by Anonymousreply 64May 13, 2023 4:49 AM

R64 people are complicated and unique. There is a plethora of potential reasons for him not coming out until now. It happens often, probably less so in today's world, but it's still not unheard of. It can be a difficult thing to come to terms with for a variety of reasons. I don't think there's a need to have compassion or judgment for it—it just is what it is.
