My big fat Greek Mama 2 was a DUD at the box office so why would they make a third movie 🎥

R2 it was only a flop compared to the first one. However, it was actually financially successful for them. It cost 18 million to make and they didn’t spend that much on advertising. It cost a little over 30 million total and they earned 90 million worldwide. it did make profit which is why they’re making a third.

The first was a sleeper hit that became a surprise blockbuster. The amount of money the first one made is rare for a romcom, yet alone a small Indie romcom that was made for $5 million.

Because nobody in Hollywood has novel ideas anymore. All they churn out are sequels, Super Hero movies, and remakes.

Did anyone ask for this sequel?

I remember in the first one they had a toenail painting scene and I could clearly see some dirt in one of the actor's toenails. Just say no.

This looks like a fun time! It's not really about the plot, it's about taking a virtual vacation in Greece. Watch the beautiful landscape, the beautiful Mediterranean men, and maybe laugh at one comedic line from Andrea Martin. What do you guys think of John Corbett? He's definitely hot, but his "blonde himbo golden retriever" personality is a turn off

I (inexplicably) loved the first movie. Didn't see the second. I will definitely watch this one, if only because of the Greek scenery. Nia looks great.

What a surprise. It’s another Greek ugly duckling story. She’s so pitifully bland and one-note, yet she keeps getting work because she appeals to flyover fraus who still go to the movies. She’s like an ethnic Bonnie Hunt.

Nia wrote and starred in "Connie & Carla," a genderbended modern take on "Some Like it Hot" so she's not a one trick pony, but the studios will only give money to a guaranteed cash cow. The Big Fat Greek Universe is it for her, if she wants to keep working.

Connie & Carla flopped tragically, sadly. As did the Greek Wedding TV series.

So, it's basically Mamma Mia with lots of exaggerated working class Greek immigrant stereotypes, instead of songs and pseudo-hippie, middle-upper class WASP dullards.

Yet one more uninspired film to avoid, in short.

I loved the first movie and have watched it multiple times. (The second one was bad)

But, this third one looks good though. I’ll watch when it comes to Netflix or HBO

The first is a classic. The second was terrible I hear.

I got sick of Corbett on SATC, boring character. I read he is cruel to Bo Derek which has turned me off to him.

I agree that Nia looks good and John Corbett is bland.
