Monkeypox is back!

there has been a resurgence of Mpox in multiple cities across the world. Chicago had 13 cases as of May 8. Four more cases were confirmed on May 9. All of them are sexually active gay men. More than half have had the vaccine. Health officials are voicing growing concern over some of the large summer parties in the Chicago area, specifically IML in a couple weeks.

by Anonymousreply 73June 16, 2023 6:13 PM

WOW - Everything's as if we never said goodbye.

by Anonymousreply 1May 10, 2023 8:38 PM

since the national health organizations are too chickenshit to talk to us as adults about the virus, I'll give a little reminder. There is a very, very, very slight chance of passing this through simple skin contact, an overwhelming majority of the cases are passed through unprotected sex with multiple partners. do whatever you have to to feel safe, but you are not considered at bush risk if you are monogamous or have few sexual partners. Even the occasional hook up is not considered that dangerous. Primarily these are people who have had hundreds of partners in a year and specifically people who have engaged in unprotected group sex.

by Anonymousreply 2May 10, 2023 8:40 PM

there has not been an incredible amount of research into this, but it does appear that wearing a condom drastically decreases your chance of getting the virus. Most of the cases stem from unprotected anal sex.

by Anonymousreply 3May 10, 2023 8:42 PM

I am responsible for all of these cases

by Anonymousreply 4May 10, 2023 8:51 PM

I got my double-dose vaccine last summer.

by Anonymousreply 5May 10, 2023 8:59 PM

The majority of the men with confirmed cases in Chicago have been vaccinated completely, but the good news is their symptoms seem to be much less severe.

by Anonymousreply 6May 10, 2023 9:10 PM

Play games…. 🎰

by Anonymousreply 7May 10, 2023 9:11 PM

Cue the pearl clutching nellie prisspot parade......

by Anonymousreply 8May 10, 2023 9:13 PM

Is there a link to a study showing reduced severity of symptoms in men who’ve had the vaccine?

What are we hearing anecdotally?

by Anonymousreply 9May 10, 2023 9:15 PM

You write as if there is some cumulative impact. It only take ONE person to transmit to you.

Now, if you have dozens of casual partners, you increase the chances of running into that ONE person which is why the odds of getting infected increase with the number of partners. But, let's be clear, you can become infected from a random hookup.

People forget the lessons learned from the days when getting infected with HIV and getting AIDS was a death sentence.

by Anonymousreply 10May 10, 2023 9:18 PM

[quote] you are not considered at bush risk if you are monogamous

Good because I’m very proud of my bush and I’d hate for it to be spoiled by a lesion.

by Anonymousreply 11May 10, 2023 9:24 PM

R10 says PANIC!!1!

by Anonymousreply 12May 10, 2023 9:25 PM

It doesn't have to be.

by Anonymousreply 13May 10, 2023 9:27 PM

RISKY SEX IS….RISKY

by Anonymousreply 14May 10, 2023 9:33 PM

What why would we call it out for what it is? That would make us party poopers. Let’s be reckless and hope we don’t catch it instead!

by Anonymousreply 15May 10, 2023 9:37 PM

[quote][R10] says PANIC!!1!

No one is panicking, r12.

I was merely pointing out the utter flaw in your thinking.

People need to assess risk accurately. Implying that just because you don't have dozens of partners that it's safe to hookup occasionally neglects the fact that any of us who were alive in the 1990s knew - you are not only having sex with the person, but everyone they've had sex with, as well.

Now, for a passaround bottom like r12, that may sound fun to have sex with everyone that your current hookup had sex with.

Some of us take a more measured approach. Each person should do whatever suits them without panic or bravado.

by Anonymousreply 16May 10, 2023 9:42 PM

Doesn't she though, R12? And she's not even a man, or gay.

by Anonymousreply 19May 10, 2023 10:04 PM

R16 girl first of all i wasn’t the person you were replying to previously and secondly my god you’re boring.

by Anonymousreply 20May 10, 2023 10:39 PM

I don’t like that name, it insinuates I have the instincts of a primate. We must change it this instant!

by Anonymousreply 21May 10, 2023 10:48 PM

R10 you can be infected with a single hookup, but that risk is much lower than a cumdump night at a bathhouse. and it is ok and important to point that out so people can make the best decision for themselves.

by Anonymousreply 22May 11, 2023 1:48 AM

Well since everyone seems to finally be over Covid, we need more hysteria to keep up the cycle of gloom and doom.

by Anonymousreply 23May 11, 2023 1:52 AM

the number of confirmed cases in Chicago has now risen to 20. One of them is a reinfection of someone who has it last year. Most of the cases are in vaccinated men. All 20 are gay or bi men.

by Anonymousreply 24May 15, 2023 9:46 PM

Fuck! Half of them were vaccinated? Well, so much for that plan.

by Anonymousreply 25May 15, 2023 9:50 PM

Does this rule out rimming?

by Anonymousreply 26May 15, 2023 9:58 PM

R25 it is important to note that, although many were vaccinated, it does appear that their symptoms were much less severe than unvaccinated cases.

by Anonymousreply 27May 15, 2023 10:08 PM

Being gay is a curse.

by Anonymousreply 28May 15, 2023 10:53 PM

Being cursed is gay.

by Anonymousreply 29May 15, 2023 11:23 PM

Really disappointing to hear that the a lot of the newly guys infected are vaccinated. My vaccination scar was HORRIBLE, I still have the mark on my arm almost a year later. And on top of it the vaccine made me sick like dog for 2 days, just like the Covid vaccines. I hope they had VERY light symptoms.

by Anonymousreply 30May 15, 2023 11:45 PM

NBC News says none of the Chicago patients have required treatment for pain so far. Last summer people were being hospitalized for pain.

by Anonymousreply 31May 16, 2023 12:01 AM

[quote] All of them are sexually active gay men. More than half have had the vaccine.

Countdown before they start blaming Reagan for this too.

by Anonymousreply 32May 16, 2023 1:59 AM

R32 Reagan made me unzip my pants and show hole!

by Anonymousreply 33May 16, 2023 2:04 AM

[quote][R25] it is important to note that, although many were vaccinated, it does appear that their symptoms were much less severe than unvaccinated cases.

That's good news, but, presumably, if they did get infected after being vaccinated they were also capable of passing that infection on to someone else. Who may not be vaccinated.

by Anonymousreply 34May 16, 2023 7:31 AM

R30 where did you “hear” that?

by Anonymousreply 35May 16, 2023 7:35 AM

Lol another vaccine not worth its name. Wow! What a world.

by Anonymousreply 36May 16, 2023 7:50 AM

[quote] Lol another vaccine not worth its name.

The administration REDEFINED the term vaccine in late 2021 when it became obvious the holy "jabs" were not preventing massive reinfections.

by Anonymousreply 37May 16, 2023 9:09 AM

[quote] there has not been an incredible amount of research into this, but it does appear that wearing a condom drastically decreases your chance of getting the virus. Most of the cases stem from unprotected anal sex.

Wrong. It’s skin to skin. Wearing a condom will only stop you from getting it on your shaft or butthole. If you touch it with your hand, you can get it. It just so happens that gay men were the ones it infected and were passing it around due to sexual activity. Sexual activity is where our bodies are closest to one another - skin to skin. Children get money pix. Do you think they were getting hit with semen?

by Anonymousreply 38May 16, 2023 9:37 AM

[quote] Wrong. It’s skin to skin.

Yeah but the type of skin is a factor here too. Thinner skin and skin that is covered in a mucus membrane (mouth / butt / dick) is much more susceptible to thicker skin, like that on your hand or torso. So the type of contact does factor into your likelihood to have it passed to you when you have contact with an infected person. So yes sex with a person that had sores on their sexual organs is much a much more likely vehicle for transmission than for it to happen while shaking hands with someone with a sore on their hand.

by Anonymousreply 39May 16, 2023 9:51 AM

So what the latest in nyc? My gears are grinding in anticipation of pride month. I plan to make up for lost time do to covid and suck and bottom my way through the entire month with ppl visiting from all over. I didn't get vaxxed cuz I didn't wanna deal with the side affects. I take weekend prep, so hoping that can protect me a little. So what's safe and what isn't?

by Anonymousreply 40May 17, 2023 4:02 AM

R39 but isn't circumcised skin dry?

R40 = unfunny troll

by Anonymousreply 43May 17, 2023 5:25 PM

This thread is such bullshit. The antivax freaks deal exclusively in false information.

by Anonymousreply 44May 17, 2023 5:37 PM

Bump for original thread.

Oohh R37, anti-vaxxer and a Reagan dicksucker? You must be a devil with the ladies.

by Anonymousreply 47May 20, 2023 9:21 PM

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll need to clean up my guest bedroom and change the bedding. Do you know what time of day they’ll arrive?

by Anonymousreply 48May 20, 2023 9:24 PM

I have two vaccines. So if I get a real infection, will I be forever immune afterwards? Yay

by Anonymousreply 49May 20, 2023 9:56 PM

Pornstar Derek Kage just posted that he has monkeypox and is experiencing "lesions, fever, and pain" He says he was double-vaccinated.

by Anonymousreply 50May 21, 2023 5:54 AM

R49 No. several people have now been re-infected

by Anonymousreply 51May 21, 2023 5:59 AM

𝑉𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑖𝑛𝑒𝑠 just ain't what they were in my day. I wouldn't have allowed Fauci and his sort to even clean my test tubes.

by Anonymousreply 52May 21, 2023 6:07 AM

[quote]I don’t like that name, it insinuates I have the instincts of a primate. We must change it this instant!

It was changed to Mpox, but people continue to use monkeypox. And it's been circulating in Africa since 1970, and we never decided that "monkeypox" was stigmatizing until it reached America.

by Anonymousreply 53May 21, 2023 6:09 AM

This is so irritating. Just when summer is around the corner, and I’m getting more ass than I have in 6 or 7 years.

Will there be a new formulation of the vaccine?

by Anonymousreply 54May 21, 2023 6:20 AM

Would you settle for a new super gonorrhea?

by Anonymousreply 55May 21, 2023 6:52 AM

Clearly mpox mutated or it is a different strain . Bad news ! I hope it s true that the symptoms are mild comparing to non-vaccinated

by Anonymousreply 56May 21, 2023 7:02 AM

I love how gay men were used to spread and mutate mpox around the world killing of 1% of the population and making the others wart monsters.

I agree, this sucks. This is going to mess up our summer OnlyFans content plans. We have 2 Atlantis cruises booked with some of the best ass on the continent. This is not a good development.

by Anonymousreply 61May 21, 2023 9:15 PM

R61, are you Greg McKeon?

Wow! You're all gonna get Norovirus, COVID, *and* Mpox!

The trifecta!!

Have fun and good luck, whores!

by Anonymousreply 63May 21, 2023 9:32 PM

Good. Hot gay guys deserve to be put down a peg and suffer every once in a while.

by Anonymousreply 64May 23, 2023 6:05 PM

numbers in Chicago have slowed down this week but the total number of confirmed cases has risen to 28

by Anonymousreply 65May 23, 2023 6:35 PM

R65 IML here we come

by Anonymousreply 66May 28, 2023 3:11 AM

I got two shots of the vaccine last Sept/Oct. Should I get it again?

by Anonymousreply 67May 28, 2023 3:23 AM

Has anyone in NYC caught it yet? I continued to be a total slut all last week.

by Anonymousreply 68May 28, 2023 2:19 PM

Only one new case in Chicago for the week ended May 27.

by Anonymousreply 69May 31, 2023 8:25 PM

DEGENERATES!

by Anonymousreply 70May 31, 2023 8:32 PM

One case? This is such bs.

by Anonymousreply 71June 15, 2023 10:26 PM

Eleven cases have been found in the capital in the past few weeks, mainly in what officials described as “interconnected sexual networks of gay, bisexual, or other men who have sex with men”.

They are offered two doses, with one dose offering 78 per cent protection from 14 days after receiving it and the second designed to provide longer term protection. Three of the new cases had received only one dose.

Case numbers remain low nationwide with only 21 cases of mpox reported in the UK since the beginning of the year.
